Oliver Wood
Hermione granger was kidnapped from Quidditch play ground with zero witnesses but one person who saw her getting kidnapped. McGonagall gathers around everyone from castle to find out who did it and how?
McGonagall- “Hermione was taken from the Quidditch pitch and no one saw anything?”
Minerva McGonagall’s voice was dangerously sharp.
There was an awkward pause.
Slowly, Oliver Wood raised his hand.
“Well… I did see it.”
Everyone turned toward him at once.
“You saw it?” McGonagall said, eyes narrowing. “And you did nothing?”
Wood shifted slightly, looking uncomfortable.
“Well… I was rather busy chasing the Snitch,” said Oliver Wood weakly.
The silence that followed was terrifying.
For a moment, nobody spoke.
Then Ginny Weasley stepped forward, staring at him as if she might hex him on the spot.
“You saw someone kidnap Hermione Granger… and you kept playing?”
Wood shifted uncomfortably.
“Well— the Snitch was right there—”
“WOOD!” Ginny snapped.
Ron Weasley ran a hand through his hair, looking completely baffled.
“Mate… even I’d stop chasing the Snitch for that.”
He paused, then added darkly,
“And that’s saying something.”
From the back of the room, identical voices spoke at the same time.
“Important question though—” said Fred Weasley.
“—did you at least win the match?” finished George Weasley.
Everyone turned to Oliver Wood.
Wood hesitated.
“…No.”
There was a long, deadly silence.
Ron Weasley slowly raised his wand.
“Right,” he said grimly. “That’s unforgivable.”
Around the room, wands lifted one by one.
Ginny Weasley sighed. “Honestly, Wood…”
“WAIT—” Wood started.
A dozen voices shouted spells at once.
Wood yelped as a jinx shot past his ear and ducked behind a chair.
“IT WAS A VERY FAST SNITCH!” he shouted desperately.
“You let someone kidnap Hermione Granger!” Ron yelled.
From the back, Fred Weasley called out cheerfully,
“To be fair—”
“—the real crime,” added George Weasley,
“is losing the match.”
ENOUGH!”
Minerva McGonagall’s voice cracked like a whip across the room.
The spells stopped mid-air.
A tall, dark figure stepped inside, robes sweeping behind him. The room fell silent.
Lord Voldemort looked around slowly at the chaos, his red eyes narrowing.
“What,” he said coldly, “is going on here?”
Everyone froze.
Oliver Wood was still crouched behind a desk.
One of the students pointed at him.
“He saw someone kidnap Hermione Granger and didn’t help!”
Voldemort stared at Wood for a long moment.
Then he said calmly,
“Did you at least win the match?”
Wood swallowed.
“…No.”
Voldemort’s expression darkened.
“Pathetic,” he muttered.
He raised his wand slightly.
“If this man did not make the Quidditch World Cup team, I shall personally kill him.”
From the back of the room, Fred Weasley whispered to George Weasley,
“Blimey.”
George nodded.
“Even You-Know-Who has standards.”
A voice suddenly came from the doorway.
“Honestly, Wood…”
Everyone turned.
Standing there, looking dusty but perfectly fine, was Hermione Granger.
Ron Weasley nearly dropped his wand.
“Hermione?!”
She crossed her arms and looked straight at Oliver Wood.
“So let me get this straight,” she said coolly. “You saw me being kidnapped, chose to keep playing… and you still lost the match?”
The entire room went silent.
From the back, Fred Weasley muttered,
“That’s… actually worse.”
George Weasley nodded solemnly.
“Much worse.”
The room fell silent.
Lord Voldemort slowly turned toward Wood.
His expression was one of deep disappointment.
“Incompetence of this magnitude is unacceptable,” he said coldly.
He gestured lazily with his wand.
“Someone retire this man from the captaincy immediately.”
From the back, Fred Weasley whispered to George Weasley,
“Blimey.”
George nodded.
“First time I’ve agreed with You-Know-Who.”
Ron Weasley sighed.
“Honestly, Wood… this might be the worst performance review in Hogwarts history.”
Suddenly, a voice spoke from behind him.
“My Lord…”
Everyone turned as Bellatrix Lestrange stepped forward, looking rather pleased with herself.
“I should mention something.”
Voldemort raised an eyebrow slightly.
“What is it, Bellatrix?”
She smiled proudly.
“I may have… jinxed the Snitch.”
The room went quiet again.
“That’s why he lost the match.”
Ron Weasley blinked.
“Wait— so he ignored Hermione Granger being kidnapped… chasing a Snitch that was already jinxed?”
From the back, Fred Weasley shook his head slowly.
“That’s tragic.”
George Weasley added solemnly,
“Truly tragic.”
Slowly, Oliver Wood stood up from behind the desk where he had been hiding.
“You… what?” he whispered.
Bellatrix looked delighted.
“I jinxed the Snitch.”
Wood stared at her like his soul had just left his body.
“So you’re telling me,” he said faintly, “I spent forty minutes chasing a cursed Snitch… ignored Hermione Granger being kidnapped… and the match was unwinnable anyway?”
He slowly sat down on the nearest chair.
“I need a moment.”
From the back, Fred Weasley whispered to George Weasley,
“He’s taking it well.”
George nodded thoughtfully.
“Better than I expected.”
Oliver Wood sat frozen for a moment, staring at Bellatrix Lestrange.
Then suddenly he stood up.
Very slowly, he raised his wand and pointed it straight at her.
The room gasped.
Ron Weasley blinked.
“Blimey… he’s finally lost it.”
Wood’s voice was shaking with fury.
“You… jinxed… the Snitch?”
Bellatrix only grinned wider.
“It was rather funny watching you chase it.”
Wood tightened his grip on his wand.
“That match,” he said darkly, “was the Quidditch Cup qualifier.”
From the back, Fred Weasley whispered to George Weasley,
“Uh-oh.”
George nodded.
“He’s gone full Quidditch captain.”
From the side, Minerva McGonagall suddenly coughed loudly.
“Ahem.”
She quickly turned her face away, adjusting her glasses with great dignity.
Anyone looking closely might have noticed she was very carefully hiding a smile.
Ron Weasley leaned toward Harry Potter and whispered,
“Did Professor McGonagall just laugh?”
From the back, Fred Weasley murmured to George Weasley,
“Wood’s the first person to make her laugh in front of Lord Voldemort.”
George nodded solemnly.
“Historic moment.”
Minerva McGonagall cleared her throat and straightened her robes, regaining her usual stern expression.
“Well,” she said sharply, “this is all very fascinating, but I still have one question.”
The room quieted again.
She turned slowly toward Lord Voldemort.
“I still don’t know who kidnapped Hermione Granger.”
There was a pause.
Then she added crisply,
“Was it you, Voldemort?”
The entire room froze.
From the back, Ron Weasley whispered,
“Did she just… accuse You-Know-Who like a student caught stealing biscuits?”
Fred Weasley nodded.
“Professor McGonagall doesn’t do intimidation.”
George Weasley added,
“She does interrogation.”
Voldemort stared at her for a long moment.
Finally he said, very slowly,
“Professor… I am attempting to conquer the wizarding world.”
He gestured impatiently toward Hermione Granger.
“Do you truly think I have time to kidnap a Hogwarts student from a Quidditch pitch?”
From the back, Ron Weasley whispered,
“Fair point, actually.”
Voldemort continued coldly,
“If I wished to capture her, I would not sneak around during a school match.”
Then he glanced at Oliver Wood.
“Although clearly it would have been the perfect time. No one was paying attention.”
There was a small pause.
McGonagall suddenly coughed.
“Ahem.”
She lifted a hand to her mouth and turned slightly away, adjusting her glasses with great seriousness.
For a brief moment, it looked suspiciously like she was hiding a laugh.
Ron Weasley leaned toward Harry Potter and whispered,
“Did Professor McGonagall just laugh at You-Know-Who’s joke?”
From the back, Fred Weasley murmured to George Weasley,
“Historic day.”
George nodded solemnly.
“First time Lord Voldemort has accidentally done comedy.”
Ron Weasley looked at Hermione Granger, still confused.
“Right… so if it wasn’t him,” he said, nodding cautiously toward Lord Voldemort, “then who actually kidnapped you?”
Everyone turned to Hermione.
Hermione hesitated for a moment.
“Well…” she said slowly, “that’s the strange part.”
The room leaned in slightly.
“Whoever it was,” she continued, “they were wearing a cloak, and they kept complaining about how Quidditch matches take far too long.”
There was a pause.
Oliver Wood suddenly looked offended.
“That’s ridiculous,” he said immediately. “A proper match takes exactly as long as it needs.”
From the back, Fred Weasley whispered to George Weasley,
“Imagine kidnapping someone just to escape a Quidditch match.”
George nodded thoughtfully.
“Honestly… I understand the motive.”
A gentle voice suddenly came from the doorway.
“Well… Quidditch matches do become rather long and boring a few times.”
Everyone turned.
Albus Dumbledore stood there peacefully, hands folded behind his back, as if he had been listening for quite a while.
Oliver Wood looked personally offended.
“Professor!” he said in horror. “Quidditch is never boring!”
Dumbledore smiled gently.
“Ah, Mr. Wood,” he said calmly, “that may depend on whether one is playing… or watching someone chase a jinxed Snitch for forty minutes.”
From the back, Fred Weasley whispered to George Weasley,
“Even Dumbledore’s roasting him now.”
George nodded solemnly.
“Wood will never recover from this.”
Albus Dumbledore finished speaking and the room fell quiet again.
Then suddenly, Bellatrix Lestrange stepped forward.
“My Lord,” she said eagerly to Lord Voldemort, “I believe I know who the kidnapper was.”
Every head turned toward her.
