The Alpha's Choice. Legacy of the Void. Book 2.

Summary

The bond is broken. The throne is won. But the nightmare is just beginning. Garrett, the Alpha of Silver Ridge, is no longer a "Hollow." Restored by a sacrifice that haunts his every waking moment, he leads his pack not by destiny, but by choice. Beside him stands Atilla, the fierce Luna who proved that loyalty is stronger than any fated thread. But peace is a fragile mask. Inside Garrett's chest, a fragment of an obsidian shard pulses with a dying golden light-the last remnant of Elara, the Solstice Princess who gave her life to the Void. It is a gift, a weapon, and a curse. As a new, eldritch threat rises from the shadows of the Northern Pass, the "Heralds of the Unseen" claim that the door to the Void didn't just close-it cracked. Now, Garrett and Atilla must navigate a world where the ancient laws of wolves are crumbling. When the "True Mate" bond is gone, can a pack survive on choice alone? Or will the Void reclaim the soul it was promised?

Prologue

The Thread That Snapped.

The Pillar of the Moon did not scream when it shattered. It hummed.

As Elara, the Solstice Princess, vanished into the swirling maw of the Void, the world felt a moment of absolute, terrifying silence. For a single heartbeat, the laws of nature held their breath. The "True Mate" bond—a golden tether that had dictated the lives of Alphas for millennia—didn't just break. It unraveled.

Far below the peak, at the edge of the Silver Ridge territory, an ancient stone tablet in the Hall of Elders cracked down the center.

"The Princess is gone," Elder Haka whispered, his blind eyes tracking a shadow only he could see. "The sacrifice is complete."

But as Garrett pulled himself from the brink of "Hollowness," and as the golden light of Elara's soul stabilized his heart, something else happened. The Void, cheated of its full meal by the jagged obsidian shard Garrett now held, reached back.

A hairline fracture appeared in the sky, invisible to the naked eye but felt by every wolf in the valley. It wasn't a door closing. It was a seal breaking.

From that fracture, a new sound began to leak into the world—a sound like a thousand whispers layered over the wind. It was the "New Thread" mentioned in the forbidden scrolls, a destiny that wasn't written by the Goddess, but carved by the Void.

The era of Fated Mates was over. The era of the Unseen had begun.

And in the Northern Pass, as the first indigo veins began to glow on the corpses of the fallen, the Void found its new voice.

"The sun is trapped in stone," the darkness hissed. "And we are very, very hungry."

My Blacksmith Savior
