🌹 Introduction 🌹
"The number one rule in my family? Honor your parents."
"They're the supreme beings who gave you life, who sweated and sacrificed so much to put a roof over your head, food on your plate, an epic amount of food."
"The least you can do in return is...every single thing they ask."
"Course, some people are like, 'Be careful. Honoring your parents sounds great, but if you take it too far, well, you might forget to honor yourself.'"
"Luckily, I don't have that problem."
A young boy of 13 was strutting down the street with his backpack on his back and a flute case in his hands. The had short black hair, round glasses, and was wearing blue jeans, sneakers and a red sweater.
"I'm Mei-Shan Lee."
"And ever since I turned 13, I've been doing my own thing. Making my own moves, 24/7, 365."
"I wear what I want..."
He gestured to a tamagotchi clipped to his backpack strap.
"Say what I want..."
He gestured to his flute case that had multiple stickers on it. The biggest one being a sticker that says, "This Guy Loves Math."
"...and I will not hesitate to do a spontaneous cartwheel if I feel so moved."
Mei-Shan tried to do a cartwheel, but he got halfway up before his backpack fell off and all his stuff spilled out.
"Oh, crap." He quickly stuffed everything back in his bag as the people around him gave him weird looks.
Mei-Shan climbed onto a street car.
"Not to brag, but being 13 mean I'm a officially a grown up."
He whipped out a transportation commission card.
"At least according to the Toronto Transit Commission."
"Good for you." The bus driver said awkwardly.
Mei-Shan pulled out his Algebra book and started doing some problems while he was riding the bus.
"All about that hustle, am I right?" He asked the man sitting next to him, who looked around uncomfortably.
...
Mei-Shan threw open the door to his school, his flute case hanging from his mouth.
"Besties, assemble!" He yelled.
"Miriam!"
A girl with braces and a wool hat was standing in front of her open locker eating chips. When she heard her name, she turned to face him.
"Hey!" She greeted Mei-Shan.
"Priya!
A girl with circular glasses, black fingernails and a nose piercing lowered her vampire book to reveal her monotone expression.
"Yo." She closed her book and went to walk beside the other two.
"Abby!"
A short girl in pink overalls with highlighted tips was angrily yelling in Korean at some kids who had littered.
She stopped yelling when she heard her name and she instantly perked up.
"Yeah. What's up, Mei?" She ran over to her three friends.
"And finally..."
Mei's sentence died in his throat as the whole world seemed to slow down. A girl was walking down the hallway in slow motion.
"(Y/n)" Mei breathed.
The girl flipped her (h/l) (h/c) hair over her shoulders and slowly blinked her bright (e/c) eyes at him, her (s/c) skin glowing in the light.
"Oh, hey guys!" She waved.
Mei shook his head and the world was back to moving at its regular speed.
"H-Hey (Y/n)!" He greeted with a small wave, while the others greeted her more enthusiastically.
Once they were all together, they put their hands in a circle and wiggled their fingers and made a weird noise.
"Ready to change the world?" Mei asked.
"So ready!" Miriam replied.
"I was born to do this." Priya deadpanned.
"Heck yeah!" (Y/n) responded.
"Let's burn this place to the ground!" Abby shrieked.
...
Mei was in his math class and raised his hand.
"Y equals negative four."
...
Now he was in his French class speaking perfect French.
...
In another class he was yet again answering questions. "Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan."
...
I know, it's a lot.
Mei was now aggressively playing his flute in front of everyone as his classmates and teacher gave him weird looks.
But this is grade eight. I don't got time to mess around. I guess you could call me...
...
"A very enterprising, midly annoying young man." One teacher commented.
...
"A major weirdo." A goth girl said, standing under the bleachers.
...
"An overachieving dork-narc." A boy with braces and a sweatband scoffed.
He tried to shoot a basket, but Mei jumped in front of him and grabbed the ball.
"I accept and embrace all labels."
He tried to throw the ball in the hoop, but he missed and shot it over the fence and into the street where it was run over.
"Oops."
"Hey! Oh, you're dead."
...
The school bell rang and everyone was exiting the school to go home.
"Excuse me! Move, please!" Mei was pushing through the crowd of students, his friends right behind him.
"Share the sidewalk people!" He scolded.
...
"Anyway, who cares what stupid, evil Tyler or anyone else thinks? This is gonna be my year."
Mei kept walking down the street, not noticing his friends had stopped.
"And nothings gonna stop this train from-." Mei yelps, as he was suddenly pulled back by his backpack.
"Shh, come on."
"Get your butt over here."
"Go, go, go."
"Come on, come on."
The four girls and Mei crawled along the ground past the door of a store called the Daisy Mart.
They all slowly peeked through the window at the cashier.
"Ooh."
"Uh..."
"Hmm..."
"Mmm...Devon."
Devon slowly turned around and was wearing a fishers hat and had a bored expression on his face.
"My mom cuts his hair at the salon, and I felt it. It's very soft."
Abby said aggressively.
"Woah, can I have some?" Priya asked.
"Yeah, Abby, hook a sister up." Miriam agreed.
"He is kinda cute." (Y/n) agreed.
"Gross. He looks like hobo." Mei said, trying not to let his jealousy of (Y/n) possibly liking someone else show.
"A hot hobo." Abby countered.
"May I remind you what real men look like?" Mei pulled out a magazine that had a boy band named 4-Town on it.
"4-Town!" The girls gasped.
"Yes! 4-Town!" Mei opens the magazine and they all swooned.
~Fantasy sequence~
"Jesse went to art school."
A blonde boy was sitting down, making pottery, when he stopped and wiped his forehead.
"Tae Young fosters injured doves."
Another blonde boy kissed the bandaged foot of a dove before it flew off.
"Robaire speaks French."
And blog with black hair and dark skin took a sip from his drink in front of the Eiffel Tower
"And Aaron T and Aaron Z are like, really talented too."
The scene panned over to two more boys sitting at a table waving.
We are 4-Townies, remember? Ride or die!" Mei yelled.
Mei was standing on top of a hill surrounded by the member of 4-Town, with (Y/n) standing next to him as he had his hand wrapped around her waist.
...
"Yeah, but tickets to 4-Town are like, a bajilion dollars, and Devons right here." Priya pointed out.
"And free!" Abby added.
Mei's expression dropped as a street car rode by.
"Ah, fudgesicles! I gotta go." Mei whined.
"Wait! We're going karaokeing today." Miriam called after him.
"Yeah!"
"Come with us."
"Come on!"
"Please!" They all begged.
Mei had to try hard to resist their puppy eyes, especially (Y/n)'s.
"I...can't. It's cleaning day." Mei told them.
"Mei, everyday is cleaning day. Can't you just get one afternoon off?" Miriam whined.
"But, I like cleaning." Then he gasped. "Plus, I got this new feather duster and, oh my gosh, you guys, it's picks up so much dirt, it's bananas!"
"Awe, but I was hoping we could do a song together." (Y/n) said.
Mei's face turned bright red. "R-Really? You-You were?"
"Fine. We'll let you go. If you can pass the gauntlet. (Y/n), help me out."
Miriam pulled (Y/n) over to block Mei's path and they started dancing.
"Come on."
"Mir, (Y/n), not now."
"You can't resist it." Miriam said.
"Yeah, come on Mei." (Y/n) bumped her hip with his, and grabbed his hands and started to spin around with him.
Mei chuckled at her cute behavior and dropped his flute and backpack on the ground.
"Yeah, that's it! You're never not on my mind!"
(Y/n) began to sing the lyrics to one of 4-Town's songs and everyone else joined in.
"Oh my, oh my, oh yeah, oh my. I'm never not by your side, your side, your side. Alright!"
They all posed at the end and started laughing.
"You passed. And here is your reward." (Y/n) pulled out a 4-Town CD and handed it to him. "Ninety-nine Australian tour, with the Girl I Love Your Jeans remix."
"O...M...G, (Y/n)! I'll guard it with my life!" Mei grabbed the CD and kissed it before throwing his arms around her, discreetly sniffing her hair. "Thank you, thank you, thank you! I love you!"
Mei's eyes widened when he realized what he said, and pulled away immediately.
"Uh... you know...as a friend...and fellow 4-Townie..." Mei stuttered.
"Yeah, no...I-I know what you meant..." she replied awkwardly, while Miriam, Abby, and Priya made kissy faces at Mei from behind her.
"4-Town forever!" He yelled, hoping to get his friends to stop making fun of him. They all knew about his massive crush on (Y/n).
"We'll karaoke another time, I promise!" Mei picked up his stuff and headed towards the tram.
"Sure Mei!" Miriam waved.
"It'll be on me. The snacks, the tunes..." he promised.
"Whoo!"
"You're my jam dude!"
Mei climbed on, and waved at his friend from the back window as he drove off. As soon as he turned the corner, the four girls deflated.
"He is so brainwashed." Priya said, the others nodding in agreement.
