Prologue
The knife slides through flesh, the young man stares at the corpse on the metal table. It’s exhilarating, peeling apart a body and molding it to his own specifications. Trash that needed to be removed from the world shouldn’t be missed and anyways weren’t we supposed to reuse the refuse that society no longer needed.
That’s why he did this, art. Showcasing the worst of society in macabre poses, in ways that his victims would abhor. It’s fun and exciting he never has to think about much, everything comes together as it’s supposed to-
Sylas gently pinched his hand, staring at the web forum he was in, post editor up and blinking at him. He needed to stop daydreaming and write.
He was... lonely. It was weird to say, considering he wanted for very little, a custom ordered laptop with amazing specifications and upgradability just because he had the cash to burn. Yet, most of the people around him had been drifting away, none of them really into the same things as him.
Money could not buy you friends, even if you didn’t care about spending on them whenever. There was no bitterness, though, everyone came and left in a decent fashion, and if they found his blunt honesty too much he couldn’t blame them.
Loneliness still wasn’t fun, even when you could unpack it and talk to a private therapist whenever you needed, or go to fancy parties to network because of your parent’s company.
No, he needed a friend, and this time he was going to find someone he could talk to about his interest.
It didn’t take long for him to decide that he was going to find someone online first, sitting in a horror novelist forum specifically for people who wrote slashers and serial killers. It was the best place to meet someone like him.
The page was blank, he was too concerned with how to write this in the first place, he wasn’t giving himself enough of an opportunity to write it at all.
Normally he was decisive and acted quickly, especially when it came to matters of the arts, but this required planning and thoughtfulness. He needed to actually figure out who was worth talking to and what would get him the best responses.
Reaching over he grabbed his water bottle with he right hand, and clicked through the tabs using his left, drinking as he reread all of the proper terminology he was going to need for this.

I’m looking for a friend to discuss in depth descriptions of murders and kills done in our works, slashing butchers to ash covered arsonists, the details gory and as anatomically correct as one could perceive. We’d bounce ideas off of each other and help our works grow. Preferably someone with a lot of experience in this area but I’m alright with any level. Whether hobbyist or for work, does not matter. You can find some of my work here. [link]
I’m not interested in those who are squeamish and I’d consider myself a political activist. I’m hoping to make a long term friend with this, and hope to eventually see each other offline to have more discussions and share resources we might not be able to send properly online.
Reach out in comments or direct messages, thanks.

Now, he just needed to wait. Someone would understand him, respond and he’d be less lonely. After all, whomever was like him would surely understand and respond in kind. It would be a very excitable time for the both of them.
Yes, Sylas would just have to wait a little bit, then everything would be sorted.
