Chapter 1
Hi!! I am Zyra. My age is 27, and I am overseeing my grandfather's company. Currently, I am the CEO. We are the number one company in our city. We do a food product business—ready-to-eat meal products with good quality ingredients, hygiene, and food safety standards. After my entry, the company grew, and we became a top company in the city. My mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa are proud, as I am the only heir of the family. This company was started by my grandfather, then my dad took control, and now I am running it. Today we have a hiring process in our company, and it's going to be different today, I thought, and went to my company early.
Hello!! I am Ariyan. Today, I have an interview at a big company (Zyra Foods). I wish I will pass today, I thought.
"You will," a voice echoed. It was my mom; she caught my mind's voice. My mom and dad wished me luck, and I went to the company.
It is a huge company, I thought. Will I get selected today? I went to the receptionist and asked them where to go. They told me where the interview process was going on.
"Thank you," I said, and went to that room. I opened the door to see more than 50 people were there. I got shocked and sat on an empty seat beside a girl. The room was almost filled. Will I get it? I thought. A person came in; she told us the interview would start in 15 minutes.
"We will call your name one by one, okay?" she said. "All the best."
POV (Zyra): Our company needed a loyal employee. Because it is food products, we should choose the person so wisely. If we make even one small mistake, it leads to a bigger problem, so I want loyal and wise people. Today's target is 10 people, but more than 50 people are attending. So, it won't be like a normal meeting or interview; I am going to test everyone and choose the 10 people.
I went inside the room like a normal girl who came for an interview. After some time, my assistant, Rhea, came and told everyone the interview was going to start in 15 minutes and went off.
Let's start the process, I thought, and saw a man sitting beside me. He must be around my age, I think. I asked him politely, "What is your name?"
He told me, "Ariyan."
"Nice to meet you," I said, and told him my name was Zara. "So, where are you coming from?" I asked him again. He was so nervous; I could see it. "It's okay, be calm," I said.
He looked at me and asked, "How are you so cool? I can't be. I want this job no matter what happens."
"Why?" I asked.
He told me, "This company is good and top in food products. I like their products."
I asked, "Do you have previous experience in this job?"
He said, "Yes, a few months ago I was working in a food product company, Arfh Company. It was nice at the start, but after a few months, I came to know the food they were preparing was not of good quality. I got shocked after seeing it. I complained to higher officials, but they didn't respond well. I couldn't work peacefully there after knowing what was happening, and I couldn't do anything. They are risking people's lives. They want money only, not quality. So after that, I resigned from there and applied to this company. This company has a good name, I hope."
Arfh Company is our enemy in business. Now I got the story of it. I had heard they don't give good food; now I can confirm it, I thought.
He asked, "What are you thinking?"
"Nothing," I told him, and smiled.
He asked, "Do you have any experience?"
I said, "No."
"Oh," he replied.
One person is selected. He is the right choice, I think. Now I have to pick 9 more. Let's start the next step, which is that everyone in the company should be treated equally. No bullying, no comparison, nothing. I don't want people, especially my people, to be treated differently. I want all of them to see this company as theirs and work, and that's why we are in the lead.
A lady came inside with a tray which had beverages on it. She asked, "What do you want to drink?" to some people and was walking slowly. I signaled her. She then fell down. After seeing her, the man who was sitting beside me and some other people went to help her. They asked, "Are you okay?" She said she was fine, gave drinks to everyone, and went off.
The man who was sitting beside me was already selected, but he again passed the test. Now, including him, I chose 6 people; they were my top 6.
It's time for the next round, I thought, and right on cue, Rhea came. She called out the names for the interview and went off.
After 10 minutes, my employee came in again. He gave sample food to everyone—the same sample food to everyone. Now the task was they had to eat it, which would make them pass for the next round. I wanted the top 10, and the remaining would be handled by my staff.
I had one in my hand and saw many of them were checking the packet, and many kept it in their bags. The person beside me was curiously looking at the packet.
"What happened?" I asked.
He said, "No, I was just checking the ingredients," he told me, and opened the packet. He smelled it and ate it.
"How is it?" I asked.
"Very good," he said.
I thought he passed all the rounds and now should complete the interview. I saw many people were eating it; I saw joy in them. I wanted that only.
I signaled Rhea to come to me. I stood up and pointed out all the people who should be interviewed, and told her the remaining could go.
The man beside me saw I was about to walk away. He stood up and asked, "Are you not going inside?"
I smiled at him and offered my hand. He saw it first, stood up, and shook my hand.
I told him, "Hi, I am Zyra, the CEO of the company. Welcome to Zyra Foods. Hope you do well in the interview."
He was shocked after hearing those words.
