Care for some hot chocolate? (Chapter 1)

She once spoke the words, "I chose you, you were the greatest gift, comfort I've been given from the world. Arthur, you have my whole heart,” written a letter tucked away under a dusty, hollow corner. He never got to read it, but she was already very obvious. “I could tell she was just as hesitant as me, carefully choosing her words, and watching her actions. She seemed to be conscious, I watched, admiring her calm presence. I wonder how she maintained it all the time. That's another secret I'll never know, I might not even understand it, I'm pretty dumb and lost most of the time.”- 19 year old Arthur.

“You cheater! slow down!,” James scoffs as he runs alongside Arthur, beating him by a landslide.

“Did it, sucker!,” he yelled from a distance, breathing heavily as he brushed the sweat across his forehead. Approaching Arthur, ready to swear at him back when he suddenly falls into the mudpool in front of him. “Ha! you loser, the mudpool was right in front of you!” Arthur spurts out with laughter. He chooses not to say anything as he knows well that he had no chance competing with Arthur's mouth of intelligence. Arthur was the town’s famed, chatty mailboy, his mind was filled with craziness but a mouth of brilliance. He could top off any bad mouth he comes across, everybody wonders where he gets it from. Some say it's from his dad, who knew practically every single person in town, a bright, famous carpenter who everyone adores, it sometimes annoys his wife, Elena Cedarwood. Owning multiple businesses across the country and a great financial image, a big name for someone that chooses to live in her childhood hometown. Arthur eventually comes to help his friend out of the thick mud pool. “Come on bro, there’s hot chocolate at the cabin,” the two both rush to the outdoor table until he spots her.

Lilianne

She knelt down by the great lake, admiring the reflection of the sun on the pebbles swarming the shore and glistening waters across the large lake. He comes to nudge her, leaving a mud stain on her puffy white sleeve. She turns to him, narrowing her eyes at his playful grin and distant cackles. The fresh wind played with her shining blonde strands of hair, petals in the air that ranged in size,

this was it.

Her thing

She always had a thing for the beauty in little things, it made her life more filled. Lilianne was the farm girl people around always wondered about, but also admired. She was obedient, mysterious and quiet, but another kind of quiet. More so…carefree, she brings a dim presence to the room, but never goes by unnoticed. “Hot chocolate?,” she juts up in surprise before realizing the auburn-hair boy beside her, holding two mugs of chocolate goodness, the steam was heating his cheeks as much as the sun already is. He lowers to her level as she takes the warm mug offered to her.

“Whenever are you not out here, staring at plants?”

he murmurs as obnoxiously slurping the hot chocolate.

“Whenever are you not incredibly loud and irritating, Arthur?”

Lilianne complains back.

“You’re just jealous I could communicate a lot better!”

He chuckles as he reaches to play with the dandelions in front of her. She rolls her eyes at him before moving her gaze towards his ducked head, golden streaks of sunlight shining upon his auburn locks. She turns to reach for the dirt behind them and brushes his hair with it. He looks up in disbelief as she runs away. The two chase each other, letting out distant cries of laughter. Arthur is surprised by how much faster she has gotten this time. Lilianne suddenly trips over a stone, into a muddy puddle. Arthur jumps and splashes her with the muddy water. The two burst out into laughter, finding themselves in such a filthy mess. Walking by with laundry, Arthur’s mom finds the two laying in the muddy puddle giggling. She shrieks in shock “my my, what have you two been up to? Come on, let's get you guys washed up.”
