Chapter 1

One day, Linjen was playing her flute and she saw a boy(kid) who was going to fall from the hill. Without hassle she calmly rescued the boy. She then said, “ It's a relief kiddo that you are save now. What are you doing here alone? Where are your parents?” The boy started to cry cause he was injured by the incident. Linjen knew the situation and without asking further questions she gave the boy a piggyback ride till they get to her home and aided him by applying some locally made natural bandages.

She then asked the boy the same questions again. The boy replied with a cheerful smile on his face, “ Sister, I'm from the city-side and I came here with my family, to visit my grandma's house for our holiday. Thank you for helping me, I know I was a bit clumsy today, sorry.... I was playing and I didn't realise when and how I got there.... I know it might sound like an excuse...” Linjen confronted him, “ Oh kiddo, don't worry about that anymore. Next time be careful while playing, okay? So, tell me where is your grandma's home? I will drop you there with my bike.” The kid asked in amazed, “ Wah, sister! Do you know how to ride a bike?” Linjen laughed and showed him her bicycle to which she frankly called her bike, “ Tada! See, that's my bike ahaha...” Both laughed merrily and the boy said with a cheerful smile, “ Sister, I have an elder brother and he is still single. I will introduce you to him.”The boy then asked to Linjen, “ Sister, I'm Nganba! May I know your name too? You're so kind! And.....are you still single or taken? Or....do you....have.. someone you like?....” Linjen said with a confused expression, “ Ahh....hh, Silly boy! I'm still single of course, nor I don't have anyone I like, till now with those who I've met, I've regarded them as my brother and sister. But....wait! Why am I telling you all this?(She said while giving some sweets which she had prepared) You silly boy! What are you up to, huh? And about my name, you don't need to know it” The boy said smilingly, “ Perfect! Sister, my brother is still single, would you consider dating him? Trust me, he's a nice guy. He is a bit introvert but he will adapt to it slowly hehe....” Linjen asked, “ Hey kiddo, what is your little brain made up of? Don't waste your time in creating delusional thoughts, okay? Now tell me your grandma's name. I know every single person in our village and I'll drop you to your place securely.” Nganba said, “ Um... I won't give up, though. Okay, my grandma's name is Bemthoi, she's my sweet granny.” Linjen recognised whose grandchild Nganba was. She then said claimingly, “ I see! I know your granny kiddo. So, you're the grandchild of grandma Bemthoi. I heard that her daughter is married to a city man so, that's your mother. (Energetically she said) Come on, sit tight! I'll drive my bike in it's full speed.” They both seated and on their way, Nganba kept pursuing Linjen to date his brother, “ Sister, I'll introduce my brother to you tomorrow. He is a very cool and handsome yet a bit introvert.” Linjen smiled and thought that Nganba must be joking, that's why she agreed, “ Okay, Okay! I will. Are you happy now?” After speaking that she burst out into laughter. Nganba became quite serious and said, “ Sister, I guess my brother must be at home too, cause he's also new here and he does not have anyone who's familiar with him in this village. I'll surely introduce both of you, so that both of you can get along well.” Linjen was quite confused, and when they reached their destination, Nganba saw his grandmother and called her as if he saw after a decade, “ Grandma! Grandma! My sweetest grandma. I'm back! Do you know that I was in a great danger today? This sister saved me. She's so lovely, isn't she? So, I'm thinking to introduce my brother to her. Don't you think, they're a perfect match, Grandma?”

Nganba then asked her grandmother where his brother was. Grandma was an open minded old lady. She also knew that Linjen was a kind and pretty woman. Deep down she also wanted someone like Linjen to be her granddaughter-in-law. She then said to Nganba, “ Oh really!? My grandson, are you okay now? Lemme make something healthy and delicious for you tonight for your fast recovery. Your brother must be inside in his own world.” After hearing this, Nganba went straight to his brother's room to call him out.Linjen was so embarrassed after hearing the conversation between Nganba and his grandmother, het face turned red as a plum. And she was stammering to speak even a slightest word. Grandma turned towards Linjen and said,“ Oh my dear girl, I've heard about you and your music. Someday I would love to listen to it too. (To end the embarrassment she said gently) Please, don't be angry to Nganba, he's still a kid now, please do treat him like your own brother, okay? ” Linjen calmed down herself and said, “ Grandma, please don't apologise. I'm not angry at all. I know Nganba is a kid now so, I should be the one to understand. Do not stress yourself. ” Grandma was contented and said, “ You aren't really angry, right? I'm so glad that you are not mad at Nganba. Come inside, let's have a sip of tea together.” Linjen refused to it by saying gently because she had something to do, “ Grandma, let's have it another time, for now I'm running a bit late, next time, it will be my treat for sure, and if possible I'd love to play music for you someday. I should go now.” Grandma said, “Dear, it was a pleasure to meet you, if you have free time someday please make sure to visit here. You are welcome here always. Tomorrow is Nganba's birthday. We won't be celebrating it very grandly but we're celebrating it in a small way in the evening, where we have invited our close ones and some relatives. As you're his saviour, you've become a close member of us too. If you would come to attend his birthday party tomorrow then it will be his best birthday gift ever.” Linjen thanked grandma for inviting her and went to her home.

What do you think whether she'll attend the birthday party tomorrow or not?
