The corridor before Finals
Final exams were next week.
After this year, they would step into Class 10.
She had promised herself she had moved on.
Her dream was cardiology. 🫀
His dream was neurosurgery.
Different goals. Different futures.
At least that’s what she kept repeating in her mind.
That day, she was passing by his classroom during a short break. She didn’t mean to look inside.
But she did.
He was laughing with his friends, a few girls sitting near him. And in that one second —
Eye contact.
Her heart started beating so fast she almost forgot to breathe.
She quickly walked ahead.
It’s nothing. Focus on exams. You’ve moved on.
Halfway through the corridor, she remembered she had left her water bottle in class.
She turned back.
And saw him walking toward her.
Her thoughts started fighting each other.
He’s not coming for you. Stop imagining. Just change your path.
She tried to walk from the other side.
“Hey, you. Stop there.”
She froze.
“Whenever I come in front of you, you run away. Am I that scary?”
Her heart forgot all its discipline.
“No… it’s not like that.”
He walked beside her.
“How did the exam go?”
They talked while walking in the corridor. Barely five minutes. About exams, stress, preparations for finals.
But those five minutes felt heavier than the whole year.
When they reached her class, he said,
“Let’s head to our respective classes. Lecture is about to start.”
He walked away.
And she stood there… confused again.
