Chapter 1 i had to make a choice
The news was playing on tv about a man who had disappeared 2 days ago
I kept my eyes on my speghetti and meat ball in my plate
My brother asked "he is your boss right?"
Yes! I said quietly
"Poor man where did he go?he was a good guy.i hope the poilce find him soon.."
After saying this my brother again focus on his lunch
I took a meat ball from my plate and chew it slowly
My brother is right , he was good indeed but the police never gonna find him
I took a napkin and wiped the sauce near my lips
It's tasted really good 😋

I stared at my computer screen for a long time. All I wanted was to go home and take care of my brother, who was very ill. But I couldn’t leave. I had to work until 6 p.m. It was my duty, and my boss was very strict about it.
I had requested him to let me leave two hours early because I needed to take care of my brother, but he didn’t listen to me. Still, I had no choice. I needed money desperately, so I did whatever he told me to do.
I was making bills for the customers standing in front of me. One customer gave me a big smile. She had blue eyes, blonde hair, and she was wearing a small crop top. I smiled back and continued my work.
Suddenly, my boss came in to check the work. He saw the girl and started staring at her. I knew that look very well. I forgot to mention that my boss is a complete pervert. When I first joined this job, he tried to touch me inappropriately, but I stood up for myself.
At first, I thought about leaving this job. But did I have any other choice? No. So here I was, working under this disgusting man.
The customer asked for her bill. I handed it to her, and she left. My boss left too. I knew where he was going. It was his routine.
Whenever a beautiful customer entered the shop, he would stare at her, and after she left, he would follow her and try to seduce her. I never understood why no one filed a complaint against him.
I sighed and looked at my watch. It was exactly 6:00 p.m. I packed my belongings and got ready to leave.
As soon as I stepped outside, my phone rang. When I saw the number, my heart sank. It was my landlord. I didn’t want to answer, but I had no choice.
I picked up the call.
“Hey, Zara! Where is this month’s rent? You already have three months’ pending rent. I’ve given you enough time. I can’t wait anymore. Either pay me or leave my house,” he shouted.
I could imagine him holding a cigarette in his hand. He sounded extremely angry. I needed to calm him down.
I replied softly, “I understand, sir. I know I owe you three months’ rent. But please try to understand my situation. I have no one to support me, and my brother is very ill. I work in a shop, and most of my salary goes toward his medical expenses. I promise I will pay you by the end of this month.”
“Fine. But I want my money.
Otherwise, I’ll throw you and your brother out,” he said and hung up.
I stared at my phone for a few seconds. I had promised to pay by the end of the month, but where would I get the money from?
I pushed my thoughts aside and started walking toward home.
I had taken only a few steps when I heard muffled sounds coming from behind the shop. I didn’t want to check. I already had enough problems. But what if someone really needed help?
I turned back and walked toward the sound.
As I got closer, I could clearly hear someone crying for help.
When I reached there, what I saw made my stomach churn. I wanted to run away, but I couldn’t. My legs felt frozen.
Now I had to decide.
I could go home and stay with my brother, or I could help.
For once, I had a choice.
And I was terrible at making choices.
