The moonlight painted her fragile like porcelain placed in a room of wolves.The doors closed behind him.

Not slammed. Not rushed.Closed.

“Turn around.” His voice was calm.

That was worse.She obeyed.Jeonha stood a few steps away, crown discarded, hair loose against his forehead not the king before the court, but the man who ruled her silence.

“You think I do not see it?” he asked softly.

Her throat tightened. “See… what, Jeonha?”

“The way they break you.” His gaze dropped not to shame her, but to measure her.

“The way you let them.” Her breath hitched.

“I do not let them”

He stepped closer.

One step.

Then another.

Her wrists were pinned above her head, pressed into the silken sheets before she could breathe.

His shadow swallowed her completely.

She could feel the heat of him through layers of fabric.

“Did you truly believe,”

he murmured, lowering himself inch by inch,

“that you could hide it from me… hmm?”

Her breath faltered.

His lips hovered just above hers not touching, not claiming only threatening to.

The restraint was worse than a kiss.

“Aerin,”

he whispered, his voice dark silk against her skin.

His thumb shifted slightly against her wrists, a silent reminder of who held control.

“You tremble,”

he continued softly, his nose brushing hers,

“and yet you still try to stand against me.”

Her chest rose sharply.

He watched it.

Measured it.

Owned the reaction.

“You are mine,” he said not loudly, not angrily but as if stating something inevitable.

“Do not mistake my patience for blindness.”

“You are my queen,” he murmured.

“If they wound you, they wound me.”

His thumb tilted her chin upward.Her tears betrayed her.“And yet,” he continued, voice lowering,

“when I question you… you look at me like I am the enemy.” The accusation was quiet.

Controlled. Deadly.

“I doubted you,” he admitted.

“Because I cannot afford weakness beside me.”

Her lips trembled.
