Summary

This is the tale of unrequited love — a love that yearned to belong, a love that ached to speak its name aloud, yet turned silent whenever Samil stood near. Nyra stood at the beginning of a new chapter in her life, opening her world to new people, new emotions, and endless possibilities If beginnings can be this beautiful, then surely endings must be even more extraordinary. Yet the question remains — will they find their happy ending, or will this tale become the very thing that breaks them both?

"You have to drop me off" I yelled at my sister who is in the living room eating her breakfast after her nightshift . "I am NOT! dropping you off , since you don't even make any efforts to learn driving for gods sake" she yelled out enough to make my mom yell out saying “SHUT UP” from the kitchen . ‘oh boy too much yelling today’ I said to myself.

“Alright you’ll take her to work cause she is an idiot who don’t know who to drive and you’ll start learning on how to drive , cause nobody is gonna be around to help you all the time” my dad gave the final verdict while he’s grabbing the breakfast from the kitchen.

“Ughh alright! I will but only if you don’t take your sweet time to get ready for an hour” said my sister annoyingly. I promise I won’t , I just need 50 minutes to get ready” I said out loud giggling while rushing into the bathroom with my towel and dress.

It did took me close to an hour to get ready cause it is my 1st day of work like ever! And I wanna look my best and feel confident so I took some time to get ready and straighten my hair so I look well put together. I didn't wear any make-up not because I don’t like it but because it’s hard to find a right shade for my brown skin , always too light or too dark. The trial and error method of these shades filled one of my cupboards of my dresser , which led me to give up ultimately. But hey, at least i found my favorite lipstick shade from my beloved ‘lakmē 696’.

I tired not to go over board with my attire , so I wore a formal black shirt tucked in a wide legged blue denim to have casual formal look and the black handbag which was gifted my most unaffectionate sister who claimed that she just got it because it was on a cheap sale and nothing else , which happened to be close by my first day of my work.

I got out of my room with my bag and asked my family how I look for my 1st day of work. “could have tied that hair ,look it is falling in your face kanna (dear)“ my dad responded while I’m tucking my hair behind my ears.

"No dad , this is the fashio--" but before i could complete my sentence, my dad said "yeah looking like a ghost is fashion huh?" with a chuckle . I only frowned and began leaving the house and said my byes to my family and thankyous to their wishes for my first day.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The drive from my house to my work is 15 minutes if we use a bike scotty , which we use for our regular transportation in the city , cause of the convivence. My sister handed me the helmet said that I should wear it ; if not I'll actually look like a ghost cause the wind will mess up my hair. I put on my helmet , hopped on the bike after my sister.

Cool breeze hitting me softly on my face while I’m on the back seat of my sisters bike. She rides like a racer but today i feel everything going slowly ,the car beside me with a child inside with his mother resting peacefully, the dad of two children taking them to their school, they look just like me and my sister when we were kids, morning chai , fragrance garam dosa everything seemed so unreal as i see them everyday, but today they are different or else I’m seeing them differently cause of the rush of adrenaline

The drive was calm except for few cussing at fellow drivers who has no business of being on the road for the way they drive which pissed my sister off. The calmness was slowly vanishing as I'm approaching the office. Some uneasiness made my stomach nauseous.

We stopped at the entrance of two big towers that seemed like it would give me a neck cramp if I look up at them for more than 30 seconds. Tall towers , glass walls reflecting the early morning sun , people in business casuals moving in and out the gates of those big buildings. All that made me feel like behind the gates there is another whole new world which I've never seen before waiting for me, welcoming me.

The thoughts flooding my brain and that made my eyes tear like a kid at kindergarten. My sister noticed my face with mixed emotions expressed that "It seems overwhelming and scary but trust me you'll have fun and everything will turn out great", "so you should step inside with a smile on your face before you get late ". My sister always been passive mean towards me but today she is nice and that's nice. But before I could say that , she complained by saying " now if you don't go , I'll go , cause you, Miss. Madam dragged me when it is my bed time " started hopping on to the bike.

"Okay I'll leave , Thanks for the ride and drive safe " said my goodbye and started walking towards the big gates at the entrance where the security is checking everybody ID's. I walked to the gate and gave him my ID and got access for the entry. I looked back one last time before I walked inside just to see if my sister is still there, hoping for her to be there. She was sitting on the bike waiting, waved at me when I looked back at her. She gestured a thumbs up and waved me bye .I walked inside the gates towards the towers unaware of how my life would turn its course of action .

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before me stood two tall towers reaching up to 15 floors divided with huge stretch of road , for people to walk between them to move from one tower to another. Each tower is surrounded with beautiful stretch of garden and benches for people to sit an enjoy their break times. Just like any morning , this morning is busy for the people, cause people are getting in and out if the office complex and some going to parking lots , come to cafe. Everybody is moving like fluid , passing through buildings, passing through people, just kept moving. I looked at the mail that had the address for my office, which is on the 3rd floor of tower 2. I made my way to the office, got in the elevator , reached my floor. It seems like the entire 3rd floor is the office cause the moment i stepped outside, I was big logo with "SKYES" on the wall in green color. Left to logo was the office with glass doors and all officey look to it. Some of the people in the elevator got off with me, I assume that they work in the same office. They walked in while talking to one other , which means they already work here. But before I could ask them, that they walked inside. I stepped inside and was greeted by the receptionist, an old man probably around 55 to 60ish said "Good Morning Miss, How may I help you?" with a pleasant smile. "Good Morning, Mr--" I glanced at his name tag, said "Link", "Hi, I am the new employee, My name is Priti and today is my first day", "so where do you think i should wait". "he smiled and said "congratulations! , and yeah the new employees need to wait in the room 2A just around this right corner" "but before that I have to manually entre your entry since you don't have clock-in yet" and asked me for my ID. I gave him my ID, waited for him to complete this work, I started to wander my eyes ;looking at the inside walls that are filled with group pictures of employees, the text on the wall, which seems like some quotes, ."here you go" said the receptionist while handing me my ID and told me "you'll see people walking into it to the room which has the number 2A". I thanked him and started walking towards the room . I took the right turn and saw a mini hallway with few room on both side, the empty walls are filled with pictures like the waiting area, more quotes. It is exceptional lit to the point it feel as bright as a hospital hallway. Then I saw room at the corner of the hallway with sign 2A on the glass door. As I was making my way to room, a group of people walking towards the same room from the other side of the hallway. A group of five or six people walked toward Room 2A from the other end of the hallway. Men and women, all around my age, all wearing masks. I barely glanced at them. After all, we’d be spending the next few months together anyway.

Little did I know, one of them would change my life forever.
