Chapter 1 The Girl I Didn’t Like
I was six.
She was eight.
Two years older.
Two years more confident.
And two years more irritating.
We met in school.
The first day, we didn’t talk at all.
I remember noticing her — loud, expressive, a little dramatic.
And I remember thinking, “I don’t like her.”
The second day changed everything.
She came and sat near me.
And instead of being sweet like a normal person,
she started irritating me.
I don’t even remember what started it,
but I clearly remember her saying —
“Oi, toke aar sathe boste baron korechay na tor ma.
Dara, ami tor ma ke bolbo tui abar aar sathe boschis!”
I was shocked.
Who even says that on the second day of school?
At that time, she wasn’t special.
She wasn’t important.
She was just this annoying senior girl
who talked too much.
But slowly… very slowly…
we started talking more.
Not because we planned to.
Not because we had something deep.
It just happened.
Conversations became normal.
Normal became daily.
Daily became habit.
And without realizing it,
the girl I didn’t like
started becoming someone I couldn’t ignore.
Back then, I had no idea
that this irritating girl
would stay in my life for the next ten years.
Aur tab mujhe bilkul bhi nahi pata tha
ki ek din yahi ladki
meri sabse badi kahani ban jayegi.
