Prologue

The rain poured heavily over the empty street.

Aanya Sharma ran as fast as she could, her breath uneven, her heart pounding loudly in her chest. Her heels clicked against the wet road, echoing in the silent night.

She shouldn’t have come here. But now it was too late.

A black car suddenly stopped in front of her. The headlights blinded her for a moment. Aanya froze.

The car door opened slowly.

A tall man stepped out.

Even in the rain and darkness, she could feel something dangerous about him. His black shirt was slightly open at the collar, and his sharp eyes stayed fixed on her.

“Running away?” he asked calmly.

His voice was deep. Cold.

Aanya took a step back.

“I—I think you have the wrong person,” she said, trying to keep her voice steady.

The man walked closer.

Slow. Confident. Like he had all the time in the world.

Rain drops slid down his face, but he didn’t seem to care.

“Aanya Sharma,” he said quietly.

Her heart stopped.

“How do you know my name?” she whispered.

A small smile appeared on his lips. It wasn’t friendly.

It was dangerous.

“Because,” he said, stepping even closer, “I’ve been looking for you.”

Aanya tried to move back again, but the cold wall behind her stopped her.

Now he was standing right in front of her.

Too close.

She could feel his presence, strong and overwhelming.

“Who are you?” she asked.

The man leaned down slightly, his dark eyes locked on hers.

“Rudra Singh,” he replied.

The name sent a chill through her body.

Everyone in the city knew that name.

Powerful.

Ruthless.

Untouchable.

Rudra lifted his hand and gently tucked a wet strand of hair behind her ear. The touch was soft, but it made her shiver.

“You saw something tonight,” he said quietly.

Aanya’s stomach dropped.

“And now,” he continued, his voice almost a whisper, “ you belong to me.”

Thunder cracked across the sky.

And in that moment, Aanya realized something terrifying.

Her life was about to change forever
