I kick my bedroom door shut, letting my bag slip off my shoulder and onto the floor. Thank God it's weekend, I genuinely don't think I could've made it through another day of school. It wasn't that school was bad it was just boring. The week had been uneventful so it just passed painfully slowly, each lesson feeling like five hours instead of one.
My bed feels so soft, it's a pure luxury to flop down after a long day sat hunched over a desk. The science stools were actually killing me, they seem just too high for the desks so you have to sit all bent forward - making the back ache unbearable.
I take a few minutes to just lie down and stare at the ceiling. It is almost perfectly white and smooth aside from a couple of bubbles in the paint. I can hear my mum shouting something at my brother, he probably got in trouble again. I wait and the familiar footsteps come pounding up the stairs, then the door across the hallway slams shut.
I stand up, the floorboards creak in their usual pattern as I walk across the room to grab my joggers and t-shirt which are still hung over my desk chair from yesterday. Changing out of my scratchy tights and too big blazer that I "will grow into eventually" is yet another relief. I wish school didn't have a uniform, it would be a lot more tolerable that way.
Suddenly a chill passes over me and I can't help but glance to the mirror stood in the corner. My reflection stares back at me, perfectly mimicking my confused expression. Something feels off. The light streaming in from the window seems darker, more claustrophobic.
I let my eyes scan over every object in the room, everything seems normal - not one item out of place. I blink and the sensation vanishes just as quickly as it started.
My phone buzzes in my school bag which is slumped next to the door. I unzip the pocket and grab it, falling back down onto the mattress. The screen lights up with a random notification, nothing interesting. I sigh and move the pillows behind me until it's comfortable then open ClassCharts.
I've got three homework's due for Monday; Sparx maths and reader, and a bunch of online geography quizzes. If I get through some of it now then there's less to do later.
I switch tabs to Sparx reader and start scanning through the text. We've been set Romeo and Juliet to read for English, my head already hurts trying to decipher the language.
Once I finish the section and answer the questions I have earned a whole 6SRP - only 294 left to go.
