Chapter 1

Will having it all ever be enough? When all our desires are met, will that void of emptiness be gone or will we keep on digging for more?Hmm... This is a story about a man; a man who had it all but was too blind to see. A man named Denzel, had everything he ever dreamt of... a family, successful career and friends in high places but he still wanted more. More of what? Only he knows...allow me to introduce them.

Denzel owned a well renowned record label, TRIBAL GROOVES is the name. Artists, hot artists were signed to his record label and the newbies dreamt of working under it. Denzel, loved by many and hated by few, was a kind man but an adulterer at its best. He loved Londie (his wife) and his two children so much but he just couldn't keep it together!

"Babe...are you coming to Sindi's soccer game?" asked Londie

"Wouldn't miss it for the world." he replied

"That's great, dad." said excited Sindi

"Hey dad, can you buy me a cricket bat?" asked his son, Luvo

"What happened to your last one?" asked Londie

"It got stolen." said Luvo

"You've got to be more responsible, son. These things cost a fortune." said Denzel

"I won't lose this one, I promise." said little Luvo

"Alright...a man is as good as his word, son.I'll take your word for it." said Denzel.

"Great! Thanks, dad."

"Don't mention it, buddy. Babe, what time is the game?"

"Three in the afternoon." answered Londie

"Okay...three. I've got to get going people; behave in school. Baby, i'll see you at three o'clock." he said

"Alright, baby. Have a great day at work."

"I will, thank you baby. Bye, kids."

Isn't this lovely? This is just a fantasy for many, nowadays you don't get to see a genuinely happy family.

"Good morning, sir." said Greta, Denzel's PA

"Morning, Greta. What's my day like today?"

"You've got a meeting with the board at nine O'clock then lunch with Mr Dobson to talk about his son, being a rapper."

"Yikes! Not looking forward to that. Listen, I've got my daughter's game at three."

"Three...alright. I'll move the rest of the work to after three."

"Great. Can i get some some coffee?"

"Sure thing, Greta. Let me call, Sonny."

Sonny was an events planner, the town's party animal and he happened to be close to Denzel.

"Sonny! My man." said Denzel

"What's up, Denzel? How is it going, big man?"

"All good; all good. Can't complain."

"That's what i love to hear. Hey, hope you're still coming to my party tonight."

"That's tonight?"

"What do you mean that's tonight? Of course it is, man."

"Hey, i forgot bro."

"So? Are you coming or what?"

"I'm coming but I won't stay for long, man. Got to get home to the wife."

"Copy that. How is the family?"

"They're doing fine."

"That's great. Look, I've got to go man...there is a lot of stuff I still have to do for tonight's party."

"Oh! Is it going to be one of those wild parties of yours?"

"My parties are always wild, that's how i roll."

"(laughs) Alright then. Guess I'll see you tonight."

"You know it, boy. Catch you later."

"Alright, crazy boy."

It seemed as if ll of Denzel's ducks were in a row, that's what it seemed like but when looking at the situation with closer lenses, you'd realize that there is an underlying matter waiting to be unfolded for the longest of time.

It was after Sindi's game that Denzel had a talk with his wife.

"So, baby..." he began

"Yeah?"

"Sonny had a birthday and he is throwing a party, tonight."

"Okay?"

"And he would appreciate it, if I came. Bu i told him that I won't be staying for long."

"Denzel...you know how i feel about these parties of yours."

"Darling, I know."

"You know what happens when you and Sonny go partying, it's always one thing after the other."

"(Sighs) I understand why you feel thath way but this time it will be different. Honey, I'm no longer that guy who does those silly things."

"Baby, I want to believe you."

"Believe me, mother of my kids. It's just to honor Sonny and then I'll be back home to you, Sindi and Luvo. I promise."

"Promise?"

"(smiles) Promise."

The evening came and Sonny's party came alive.

"Denzel, my man." said Sonny

"It's the birthday boy."

"I knew you were coming."

"Of course, I wouldn't miss it for the world."

"C'mon in, dude. I want you to meet some friends of mine."

Ah yes! This party might be the rise or downfall of a prominent man named, Denzel. Everyone feared Sonny's parties, for there were like a wildfire set ablaze in a forest.

Sonny and Denzel were seated by the booth, talking businees and pleasure.

"This party is lit." said Denzel

"I know, right?"

I need to dash any moment from now." said Denzel

"No way! So early?"

"I promise Londie that I'll be back before bedtime."

"Oh? You best get going then; I don't want to fight with Londie." said Sonny

"(Chuckles) Neither do I." he replied

"Let me go get you a gift for the road...wait here, i'll be back."

"Okay."

It was as if a whirlwind moved by and time went on a stand still. The music seemed to fade in the background, as per visioned in Denzel's head, as a beautiful woman walked into the booth. Her silky smooth legs in those red heed were jaw dropping... the shape of her body was nothing short of perfection and her beauty was a snare set against a man's heart and soul.

"You look like you in need of some company." she said in a sweet, seductive voice.

"(Clears throat) Just... just waiting for a friend."

"Female friend?" she asked

"(stutters) No...no. The birthday boy."

"Oh? Can i join you? While you wait?"

Before Denzel could answer, Sonny walked back into the booth. He gives the seductive female a look; a look that speaks volume in the sight of silence. Sonny definitely knew the girl.

"It was nice meeting you." said the girl as she exited the booth

"You too..." said captivated Denzel

Sonny moves closer to Denzel.

"What was that about? Didn't you say you were leaving?" asked Sonny

"You told me to wait." responded Denzel

"Dude, that girl is bad news."

"Who is she?"

"That's not important...just stay away from her."

"So...where is the gift?"

"There...it's a bottle of the finest cognac."

"Ah! Thank you, I appreciate it."

"Don't mention it. Tell Londi I said hi and kiss those little ones goodnight for me."

"Sure thing."

"Keep in touch."

"Keep in touch. See ya."
