The Group Chat
The group chat was called “Don’t Make It Weird”
Which was ironic.
Because everything about the friend group was already weird.
Jade sat at her desk in class high as always, vaping in the back of the class room, pretending to do work while her phone buzzed nonstop.
Sienna: Everyone at Adrian’s tonight???
Miles: Define everyone
Lucas: If snacks exist im coming
Harper: i swear if Miles plays that terrible playlist again im leaving
Miles: MY MUSIC IS GOOD
Nora: No it isn’t
Jade smirked.
Their group of ten had been hanging out almost every weekend for the last year, and somehow every time they did , something chaotic happend.
Someone confessed a crush.
Two people argued.
Someone got embarrassed.
And occasionally…
Two peopel disappeared for a suspicious amount of time.
Jade looked up from her phobe just as Sienna slid into the desk beside her.
“Tell me you’re coming tonight.” Sienna whispered.
“Maybe.” Jade said.
Sienna narrowed her eyes.
“That means yes.”
Across the room, Harper and Miles were already arguing.
“You can’t just invite random people.” Harper said.
“Its not random people.” Miles defended.
“You met them yesterday.”
“That counts as knowing them.”
Nora leaned toward Alina.
“This is how every hangout truns into chaos.” Nora said quietly.
Alina laughed softly.
“Yet we still show up.”
Meanwhile, near the back of the room, Adrian and Ethan were talking.
Or at least Adrian was.
Ethan mostly just nodded.
Lucas suddenly turned around in his seat.
“Important question.” He announced.
Everyone looked up.
“Who’s bringing food tonight?”
Harper thew a pencil at him.
“THAT’S your important question?”
Lucas shrugged.
“Yes.”
Jade shook her head, smiling.
This friend group was loud.
Messy.
Full of secrets.
And somehow…
Impossible to stay away from.
And tonight at Adrian’s house?
Something awkward was definitely going to happen.
