Chapter 1
Onyx
My name is Onyx Kane I am the only son of Lilly and Dante Kane, the Alpha and Luna of the Silver Moon pack. My parents are the epitome of what a Alpha and Luna should be, they are strong, caring, compassionate, and committed to doing what is best for the pack. My parents aren’t fated mates they chose each other within our pack, but that’s normal fated mates are almost unheard of now a days. I’ve heard stories of a time when wolves ran free within the pack grounds, but because of the rise in rabid rouges packs had to build walls and closely monitor the ins and outs. Because of the walls going up the communication between each pack stopped which caused the lack of fated mates. My life was normal… until one day it wasn’t and nothing and nobody could have perpared me for that.
“Good morning baby boy! Happy birthday!” My mom coos to me waking me from my sleep. “Happy 12th birthday son.” My father says from the doorway of my room. “Good morning mom!” I say hugging her. My birthday always meant a lot to me it was one of the only days out of the year that my parents both gave me there undivided attention! We spent the whole day together doing activities, smiling, laughing and the best part is we did it together. As we ate dinner in comfortable silence I finally spoke up to ask a question I’ve been thinking about all day “Do you think my wolf will be brown like moms or black like dads?” My mother looked at me and smiled sweetly “We don’t know baby but no matter what you look like we will love you! Why are you worried about that anyways you won’t get your wolf till you’re 18?” I hung my head sad i still had 6 more years “I don’t know I think about it every birthday!” We all laughed and finished dinner. We decide after dinner to go for a walk around the pack, we waved at some pack members and stopped to talk to others, it was starting to get late and I was exhausted so my Dad carried me home while I fell asleep on his shoulder. When we got home they tucked me in and kissed me goodnight saying one final Happy Birthday.
“Onyx…Onyx…Onyx wake up!” My mother said shaking me awake. I look at my window seeing its still dark out and confused why she’s waking me up, I was about to say something when she grabbed my arm and dragged down the stairs out of the house. When we got outside I was in shock houses were on fire people were screaming while others lay unconscious on the ground, but my mom didn’t stop till we got to the door of the safe house. “Onyx you need to go inside and stay quite, the rouges breeched the wall. I have to go find your Father, I love you baby boy.” She said with tears in her eyes kissing my forehead and running towards the danger without looking back. I stood still where my mother left me until someone grabbed my arm pulled me in and slammed the door shut locking it. I looked around and seen other children, some elderly pack members and a few pregnant pack members and they were all crying. I sat down in a corner and pulled my knees to my chest waiting for my parents to return and tell me everything is okay. A few minutes later there was a sound at the door, so i stood up and walked towards it, when I heard “BEEP…BEEP…BEEP” then the door exploded and everything went dark.
