Sienna

Tonight, the balance of power in our world was shifting. As I walked out of the black SUV and said thank you to my driver, I stared over at the Costa house. My cousins knew how to throw parties, except this one would be a little bit different.

My father recently struck a deal with Enzo Romano, forging an alliance between the Moretti and Romano families.

I’m not surprised though; crime has reached an all-time high, and every mafia family needs a strong ally—something my dad has been too stubborn to acknowledge until now.

So, tonight would be the first night the Romano Brothers would be attending the party.

I did my homework before walking in, scouring social media so I wouldn’t be completely blind.

First, Enzo Romano—the oldest at 22. He barely left a digital footprint, so there wasn’t much to know.

Then there’s Luca Romano, age 19, same as me. Extremely attractive, gives off bad boy vibes, and the comments under his photos were a parade of hearts, fire emojis, and girls begging for attention.

Lastly, there’s Devon. At 18, he possesses an undeniable charm; the Romano genes are strong. While Luca’s reputation as a natural fighter echoes throughout the mafia world, Devon remains a quieter presence on social media and in their circles. This makes me believe that he is less of a fighter than his brother.

I thought knowing more about my new allies would make me feel better walking into this party, but it didn’t. Even though I understood the importance of having allies, it didn’t mean I knew that new people in your circle can complicate things. I almost wished my dad had started this alliance earlier.

At least my cousin Gigi would be there to help keep my mind at ease.

As I walked into the estate I was greeted by two security guards who work all the parties here. The party was already packed. I tend to be fashionably late to these things. There was around one hundred people already here so it took me a bit to find Gigi.

I finally spotted her as I walked further

into the giant ballroom of the Costa estate. Looking stunning as usual, she was wearing a sparkly dark blue dress and had her black hair curled.

“Sienna!” she called out to me. “You look so pretty!”

I had on a red dress with a slit on the side, red stilettos, and had my long dark brown hair sleek and straight. I thanked her and practically dragged her to the open bar. Gigi was 17 and didn’t drink, but being this was a family party, I was able to as long as I promised not to go overboard.

“One Vodka Cranberry, please!” I said to the bartender before Gigi started right away with the gossip train.

“Have you seen the Romano brothers yet?” she asked. “My brothers told me to be careful of Luca. He has a bit of a reputation.”

I let out a slight chuckle. Gigi’s older brothers were extremely overprotective of her. I’d gotten into many arguments with them over the fact that they do everything they can to keep her from getting too deep into the family business and still treat her like a child.

“Well, my dad said I have to play nice, and I’m not doing this alone, so I guess we can be careful together,” I said.

Gigi laughed. “Anything for you, girl.”

I grabbed my drink from the bar and heard my dad’s voice coming from the Costa office. I looked over Gigi’s shoulder to see my dad and a man who I thought was Enzo walking out. Gigi saw me staring and turned to look as well.

“There’s Enzo,” I said.

Following straight behind them were what may have been two of the most gorgeous men I’d ever seen.

“Holy shit,” Gigi quietly said to me.

Luca and Devon Romano. Dark hair and green eyes. Even more beautiful in person. Honestly, I couldn’t even tell you who was hotter—it was an impossible question.

Before I even had a moment to compose myself, I saw the two of them heading to the bar.

“Oh my god, oh my god, they’re heading this way. What do we do?” I whispered.

“Girl, they’re probably just coming to get a drink.” Gigi said. “Plus, you said your dad wanted you to meet them, so here’s your chance. Just sit here, talk with me, and pretend you don’t even notice them. Let them approach us.”

That plan fell apart the moment I was caught staring at Luca as he walked up to the bar. Shit. His gaze locked onto mine, clearly aware of my interest. Way to keep it cool, Sienna.

“Well, hello there,” Luca said with a smirk. “Four tequila shots, top shelf.” He said to the bartender, clearly ignoring the “don’t go overboard” memo. He looked back at me.

“I’m Luca Romano, and this is my brother Devon Romano,” he added, pointing to his brother standing on the other side of Gigi. Devon gave a smile and a wave.

They both wore black suits that made me melt. Still, I couldn’t look desperate; I don’t just accept anyone into my circle. I kept my composure.

“Hi, I’m Sienna Moretti, and this is my cousin Gigi Costa.”

Gigi had the biggest smile on her face before giggling and saying “Hi.”

He smirked again. “So, you’re the infamous Moretti daughter. I’ve heard a lot about you.” His voice was effortlessly flirty—I could barely handle it.

My name does have a reputation as well. I was thrown into my family life at a young age. I’ve proven myself capable of handling the violence that comes with it and have become a very important member of the Moretti family. From what I’d heard, Luca has a similar role in the Romano family.

Luca and I must’ve been staring at each other silently a little too long, as Devon’s dramatic cough snapped us out of it.

I realized I’m completely ignoring him so I turned to him. “Hi! Nice to meet you two,” I said, smiling.

“You too,” he replied.

Before I could even say anything else, the bartender put four tequila shots in front of us.

“Oh, I don’t drink,” Gigi said.

“Oh, perfect, more for us,” smirked Devon, before placing two of the four shots in front of me.

I raised an eyebrow at why I ended up with two shots now that Gigi wasn’t having hers. I felt like I was being preyed on by these two—and honestly, I didn’t mind. Their green eyes gave me a thrill I shouldn’t admit. Am I crazy for that? Yeah, probably.

But tonight was about making introductions and having fun, as I always do at a Costa party. So if the Romano brothers were giving me two shots, I was taking them like a champ.

“Here’s to new allies and a good night,” Luca said before we all clinked our shot glasses and downed the tequila.

Gigi shot me a look, basically saying “be careful,” and I nodded in acknowledgment before looking right back at Luca.

The way he looked at me was almost dangerous—not just for tonight, but going forward. I didn’t know exactly what that meant, but I didn’t realize that this Moretti-Romano alliance was going to change everything.
