Bait and switch with inconsistent writing
"Before you start this, you should know that the story closes in on a climax and then says read the rest of it elsewhere. I dropped my overall rating by one star because of that. The good: At times, the writing is wonderful. The main characters are interesting, but somewhat underdeveloped given the 36 chapters given here. The plot line has a nice mix of predictable and twists with good emotional engagement. The bad: At times, the writing becomes very sloppy. Random line breaks in the middle of paragraphs. Changing past versus present tense mid-sentence. Missing opening or closing quotes. The story includes chapter numbers, about half of which clip the second digit, which somewhat epitomizes the sloppiness rampant as the story moves on. I suspect the story was copied from another site and never proof read on here. The story itself at times meanders. The 36 chapters here would have been much better being 25 or so. Bottom line: I regret having read this because of the switch and bait along with inconsistent writing. Both are relatively easily fixable; it could have been a wonderful story, easily 5 stars, with a solid editing pass. And posting the entire story here."
