Ep1: Face Your Fears!
It was a peaceful Friday night, you were currently laying on your bed, playing some games on your phone. On tv, you had some calming music playing in the background to help you relax from school earlier today.
There was a feeling, a hopeful feeling that J.B. didn’t contact you for a mission. It was pitch-black dark outside, the moon glowed brightly in the night as mist flowed within the wind. Taking a bite of your snack, you got a text from the group chat.
“Yo, [Nickname]! J.B. just sent us to go on a mission.” It was from Jack. Reading the text, you emitted a whine, wanting to relax in your bed. Your phone made a ding, looking up to see the new message. “Me and Parker are on our way to pick you up. See you soon!”
Emitting a low grumble, you trudged your way out of bed, missing the warmth. It’s not like you didn’t want to go, you liked to hang with your best friends. Even when you three had to go on a ghost hunt together, you enjoyed their company.
Putting on some comfortable clothing, you finished your snack as you heard another notification on your phone. This time, the message was from Parker in the group chat. “We’re outside! :)” you couldn’t help but chuckle, feeling your cheeks warm up just a bit.
Making your way downstairs, you knew that your parents would either be wide awake for no reason, or fast asleep. “Mom, dad. My friends want me to come with them, is that okay?” you uttered, earning smiles from them.
“Sure kiddo!” Your father replied, giving you a playful noogie. “You need to get out more anyway. It’s your final year in high school, of course you can go out with your friends.” you chuckled at your father, feeling your mother hold your hand.
“Just be careful out there, sweetie.” she hummed with a gentle tone. “Tell them I said hi!” nodding, you made sure your phone was in your pocket as you headed out. Closing the door behind you, a cold breeze brushed against you as your best friends stood a few feet away with wide grins.
“Yay! You’re not sleeping yet.” the boy with the small scar exclaimed with joy, pulling you into a tight hug. He was wearing his iconic red letterman with black pants, black shoes with a red and black hat. “We need to be careful, J.B. told us that the location we’re going to is familiar to us.”
Retracting away from the hug, you felt the purple-haired girl patting your back. She wore a light-blue long-sleeve shirt with a black shirt over it. She had her fanny pack across her chest while wearing white shoes and a yellow beanie.
“C’mon, before we hear Jack whine about not posting a new video on his Boo-tube channel.” she teased as you both chuckled at the jacket-wearing boy as he whined.
“Hey! I need views. I’m almost at a thousand subscribers!” he retorted back, feeling proud of his hard work. Pulling out his phone, he began to record as he made sure his phone was facing him. “Yo! Welcome back to the channel. Today, I’m here with my best friends, [Name] and Parker!”
You couldn’t help but shake your head as the three of you began to walk in the cold, dark and misty night. “Dude, you’re gonna wake up the neighbors.” you teased, followed by Parker chuckling with agreement as he sticked his tongue out at both of you.
As the three of you continued to walk down the sidewalk, hearing a few cars pass by. You felt your phone vibrate, seeing that you were close to the location. Pulling it out and going to the ghost tracker app that J.B. installed on your phones, the location happened to be your school; Newbury High.
There was really no chance of escaping school. “You gotta be kidding me...” you groaned, hearing your friends chuckle as they glanced towards the tall and large building. The school was empty, there were no cars inside and all the lights were off.
The gates were already ajar, watching green mist fume through the bars. “Looks like we managed to make it in time. Readings are off the charts.” Parker hummed, getting her phone out and activating the app.
Jack really hoped that he had Spencer with him, knowing that he would protect him during these ghost hunts. Switching to the ghost tracking app, he scans the building, noticing how different it was on the screen.
“Whoa, how many ghosts do you think are in there?” he uttered in awe as he walked closer. Maybe he could get some footage from his channel, if he comes out of there alive.
“There has to be more than ten in here, this entire school is practically filled with the brim of them.” you stated, watching the purple-haired girl slowly open the door, revealing the long, dark hallway of the school.
Turning the flashlight on with your phones, you three began to scan the area. ‘Something’s definitely up...’ Jack thought, a wave of uneasiness flowed in his chest as his flashlight landed on a portrait, nearly scaring the life of him. ‘Creepy, but cute doll...’
The portrait held a young woman wearing fancy white clothing, sitting in a blue lounge chair while holding a blue teddy bear doll. The sound of something breaking made the three of you tense up, following the sound.
Turning towards the main hall, Parker’s flashlight landed on a person that was hunched over on the ground, twitching. Getting closer, her eyes narrowed in disbelief. “Mr. Douglas?” as she uttered his name, his head sharply turned towards the three of you.
A ghostly growl escaped his lips, white eyes boring into the three teenagers’ souls. “He’s been gloomed!” you exclaimed, shooting him with the app as Jack did the same. Once he was shot down, he became unconscious as a raging ghost emerged from his body.
“Light it up!” you three began to shoot at the ghost, earning a pained screech before it was captured by your phone. Before you could even take a breather, you noticed the interior of the school had turned blue.
Your phone violently vibrated, noticing the multiple readings that practically surrounded you and your friends. “They’re everywhere...” you muttered, running up the first flight of stairs. Jack suggested that they should split up, earning deadpanned expressions from you and Parker.
“Really? In a haunted school? Nice plan, Jack.” the purple-haired girl uttered sarcastically as he gave you both a bright grin.
“I know, right?” He then heads towards the east hallway, guessing that you and Parker were taking the west hallways. Jogging into one of the rooms, he made sure that he wasn’t in a ghost’s range.
Suddenly, the sound of bats screeching made him take cover, watching multiple bats formed into a giant ghost one. The bat held a wide, sharp and toothy grin, staring down at the boy with hunger as he pounced.
His screams alerted his friends, your rushed footsteps echoed in the halls as you barged inside. Taking a look around, you see Jack’s phone, but he himself was missing. “[Name]...” Parker whispered, silently telling you to look up.
Slowly lifting your gaze upwards, you see a yellow ghost bat holding Jack, possessing him while biting his head. “Hello, Parker and [Name]. You really should try this, I find it... uplifting.” emitted a cackle, you didn’t want to blast the ghost while Jack was still there.
Then, the sound of a ghostly bark caught your attention, watching a small ghost dog growl before attacking the ghost that was possessing your friend. “Spencer!” you exclaimed with relief as the ghost dog tackled the ghost, letting your friend go.
Approaching him, you both helped him up, asking if he was okay. He gave you both reassuring smiles, watching his ghost dog eliminate the ghost bat. Your phone vibrated, seeing that you got a notification from J.B., telling you three to get out of there.
Without taking any chances, the three of you headed out of the room, heading inside the elevator. As the doors closed, followed by a low dinging noise, a sigh escaped your lips. The lights over you start to flick, followed by the elevator itself stopping before plummeting down to the basement.
Thankfully, you guys weren’t hurt. The doors opened to reveal a dim-lit basement, in the center of the ground was the blue teddy bear you saw on the portrait earlier. You noticed the toy starting to glow, watching a monstrous version of the toy emerge from it.
“Aren’t you too old to be playing with toys?! Lady E will return!” letting out a menacing laugh, electricity began to crackle around him. You three tried to blast him, but it barely even damaged him.
“We need to go, now!”
Taking your word, you three rushed up the flight of stairs that led you into the main hall of the school. Glancing towards the exit, it was blocked off by a large ghost that used to be an ice-cream man, pouring a bunch of gloom onto the door.
Cursing under your breath, you three were quickly surrounded by multiple ghosts, each hissing, screeching and laughing at the three. Then, a familiar voice caught your attention, looking towards the back entrance of the school.
“Kids, over here!” it was Mr. Douglass, quickly waving you three over to him. Running out of the school, you noticed a school bus that was built by J.B., watching her emerge from the vehicle with a wide grin.
“Hey kids! Hope I didn’t miss all the fun!” taking out a giant laser, she began to blast the teddy bear ghost. You, Jack and Harper exchanged smirks, taking your phones out and helping your mentor with the ghost.
The foe couldn’t handle the attacks, emitting a pained roar before it was sucked into J.B.’s phone. “Looks like you kids managed to survive.” she chuckled, heading inside the school bus, followed by you three and Douglass. “I’ll drop you all off at home.”
“Thank you, I feel like I’m gonna pass out.” Jack huffed, the back of his head landed onto the comfortable seats. You tiredly hum in agreement, yawning in the process. You knew that you couldn’t fall asleep, knowing that J.B. and Douglass would drive like they wanted to break the speed limit.
Eventually, you saw your house coming into view, hearing the bus hiss as it came to a stop. “I’m sorry that I made you three do this mission late tonight.” The three teenagers reassured her that it was fine, hoping that they wouldn’t have a mission for the next few days.
Hopping out of the bus, you were pulled into a group hug by your friends, enjoying the warmth. “See you guys later.” you hummed, slowly retracting from the hug before waving goodbye, watching the two hop back inside the bus.
“Later, [Nickname]!”
“Tell your parents I said hi!”
Chuckling at the two, you walked towards the door of your house, hearing the bus drive away in the distance. Unlocking the door, you see your parents sleeping on the couch. Making sure to quietly close and lock the door, you trudged your way into your room.
Taking your shoes off and changing into some pj’s, you made sure to put your phone on the charger before faceplanting onto the bed. As a few seconds passed, you heard your phone dinged, seeing that it was from the group chat.
“You guys wanna hang out tomorrow?” the message was from Jack, making you emit a tired chuckle as Parker replied.
“I’m down. Hby, [Name]?” reading her message, you texted them back with a small smile.
“Sure.” Turning your phone off, you made yourself comfortable under the covers before falling asleep, looking forward to tomorrow.
