Chapter 1
"The wedding was two weeks away when the truth arrived.
Not in whispers. Not in rumors.
But in a single sentence that shattered everything they thought they knew:
‘You two share the same blood.
The wedding was only fourteen days away when everything fell apart.
Bambie was at work when the call came. She almost didn’t pick it—her phone had been ringing all morning, and she was tired. But something about this one felt… different.
“Hello, Mummy?” she said, half distracted, still typing on her laptop.
There was no reply at first. Only silence. Then a shaky breath.
“bambie… come home. There’s something you need to hear.”
Her fingers froze above the keyboard.
“What is it?”
Another pause. Longer this time. Heavy.
“It’s about henry.”
Her heart skipped.
“What about him?”
And then the words came—slow, careful, like they could break if spoken too quickly.
“You and Henry… you are family.”
Bambi laughed.
At first, it sounded like a joke. A bad one. The kind that didn’t even deserve a reaction.
“That’s not funny, Mummy.”
“I’m not joking.”
The air around her suddenly felt tight. Suffocating.
“It’s a mistake,” Bambi said quickly, standing up. “There has to be a mistake.”
But deep down, something cold had already settled in her chest.
Three years.
That was how long she and Henry had been together.
Three years of shared dreams, late-night calls, stolen kisses in quiet corners of the office where they first met. Three years of promises—of forever, of a life they were already planning.
Henry wasn’t just her boyfriend.
He was her home. They met on her first day at work.
She had been nervous, adjusting her clothes every five seconds, trying not to look lost. Then he walked up to her with that easy smile.
“You look like you’re about to run away,” he said.
“I might,” she replied.
“Don’t. I’ll help you survive your first day.”
And he did.
From that moment, everything had felt… right.
Bambi grabbed her bag with trembling hands.
“I’m coming home,” she said, her voice barely steady.
As she stepped out of the office, her mind was already racing.
It’s not true.
It can’t be true.
But for the first time since she met Henry, fear began to creep into her love.
Because if it was true…
Then everything they had built was already broken.
