First Cry
Reader's Note 😊
For a better experience while reading this chapter, I recommend listening to the "Metro Proposal Theme" from the movie Dude
🎧 Play the music in the background before you start reading and let the melody flow with the emotions of this story. ❤️
Now let's begin... ✨
⸻
The first cry of a newborn baby is one of the most special moments for its parents.
In the same way, there is a special moment in everyone's life — the very first moment you see the person you are about to love.
The moment love hits you like lightning.
It knocks you down, lifts you up, throws you into the sky, and drops you back to the ground. In that single moment, you somehow know...
She is the one.
Let me introduce the hero of this story.
Pradeep Vishwanath.
(A fictional name.)
And the love of his life,
Jenifer Juliet.
(Also a fictional name.)
⸻
The story begins in May 2017.
Across the whole of Tamil Nadu, students were under a lot of stress. No, it wasn't because of any protests or disasters.
It was 12th board exam results day.
Pradeep had a very rough year in 12th grade. Apart from studies, he had many other "important responsibilities" — like watching movies with friends, playing cricket on weekends, and attending group studies that rarely involved any real studying.
So concentrating on studies was... difficult.
But life is full of small miracles.
Against all expectations, this fellow somehow passed his 12th grade with very average marks. Yet he celebrated like he had topped the state. There were happy tears, laughter, and relief all around.
To be fair, Pradeep had very loving parents. They were friendly, supportive, and always stood by him.
Pradeep had always believed that he would one day have a love marriage. He knew his parents were open-minded and would support him no matter what.
But what he didn't know was this:
Within the next few months, he would meet the girl who would change his life forever.
The girl he would love for years.
⸻
Like many teenagers in Tamil Nadu, Pradeep also joined Engineering college.
Admission procedures, paperwork, hostel talks, new classmates — all the usual chaos. Before he even realized it, two months had passed.
Then came July.
There is something special about this month. July was named after the great Roman statesman Julius Caesar.
And when people think about Julius Caesar, they usually remember wars and politics.
But history also remembers something else.
His legendary love for the Egyptian queen Cleopatra — a love story that lived far beyond their time.
And in this very month of July...
Our hero met the love of his life.
Yes.
Pradeep Vishwanath met Jenifer Juliet.
Coincidence?
Maybe.
But love has always been a little magical.
And magic... sometimes happens when you least expect it.
⸻
It was a Friday afternoon in July.
Post-lunch Chemistry lab practicals.
Most students were tired. The lab was quiet except for the clinking of glass beakers and the smell of chemicals.
Pradeep was half asleep.
Actually... more than half asleep.
His eyes slowly closed while he stood near the lab table.
Unfortunately, the lab teacher noticed.
Without warning, she threw a piece of chalk at him.
Thud.
It hit his head.
"Pradeep! Mix the acids and start the experiment!" she shouted.
Still half asleep and confused, he turned to the girl standing in front of him and casually said,
"Can you pass me the H2O acid?"
H₂O.
Water.
The girl in front of him burst into laughter.
Not loudly.
Just a soft, beautiful laugh.
Between the racks of the lab table, he could only see her eyes and her smile.
And in that moment...
Everything changed.
That single moment.
He felt like he had fallen into a deep ocean of love.
⸻
From this point onward, the story is mine to tell.
Have you ever been struck by lightning?
That's how powerful her eyes were.
Her calm face.
Her gentle smile.
All the beautiful love stories I had ever read... every magical word I had ever come across in books...
It all felt like it was standing right in front of me.
In a single girl.
The girl who suddenly filled my world with calmness, happiness, excitement, and fear — all at once.
All of this happened within a fraction of a second.
And then...
There was the first cry.
A love was born.
A love meant to last a lifetime.
And in that very moment, I knew...
This love would stay with me forever.
