THE MYSTERY OF LA MORT

Call of Hidden Secrets

New York, 3:33 a.m. Everybody was enjoying their sleep without knowing anything about the secrets of the world that could destroy their sleep forever.

In New York, there lived the only saviors of this planet, if they lose nobody is there to stop the catastrophe.

A telephone rang on the table. Nobody answered. The telephone again rang, but this time more loudly and with a strange noise, which was difficult to notice at that time. Again, no one answered. The phone rang again, but this time with a louder and shriller noise that could make anyone deaf. Felix came rushing to the phone, but he didn’t answer. He stood there, analyzing the weird noise of the ringtone.

He took the phone and said, “Hey, this is Detective Felix. What is the case about?”

The person on the other side didn’t answer. He said, “Sorry, you are not audible. Can you be a bit louder?”

The other person answered, “38°39′40.0"N 68°23′17.9"W.”

Felix asked, “Ok, I noted it. So, what happened?”

Again, nobody answered. He apologized, saying, “Sorry, I still can’t hear you. Can you be louder?” A weird shrill voice came from the other side, which said, “You and your friends will die.”

Before Felix could say anything, he already hung up the phone by repeating only that he will die soon.

Felix felt uneasy with that shrill voice. It felt like a person whose vocal cords are cut is trying to shout to survive a zombie apocalypse. Felix went to his bedroom. He took some documents and his laptop and sat in the living room of his huge apartment in the Plaza hotel in New York.

He was one of the three most intelligent and handsome detectives the world has ever had in the past three hundred years. The other two were Stalin and Andrew. They all were good friends, and they always worked together. They had solved the weirdest cases that nobody could solve. They helped the government to catch the most wanted terrorists who were hiding in a place that others considered haunted. They made their hiding in Bodie, California. They first made the people of Bodie leave the place by scaring them with fake horror props. People started to believe the rumors, and gradually the city became abandoned. They then set up their office there, from where they controlled all the attacks. Felix, Andrew, and Stalin worked together, and they solved this case that nobody was able to in only a month of investigation. They have solved various other mysterious cases too. People often called the trio ‘Modern Ghostbusters of Crimes’ as they solved various mysterious cases that included paranormal activities, but after investigation, they found that every time, these rumors were spread by the criminals to aid their hiding in the abandoned places.

The clock showed 4:35 a.m.

Felix was highly confused and disturbed with the call. He was still searching for something in those heavy files of cases that were solved by them. He suddenly stood and went down to his apartment with his car keys. He read something so disturbing that it made him rush to his office.

He called his friends and asked them to quickly come to the office.

He was extremely scared of that shrill voice. His face became completely pale and emotionless, like someone took all his joy, and now he is left with sadness and fear.

When Stalin and Andrew arrived, they were shocked to see Felix so disturbed. Felix told everything to them.

Stalin said, “I think that was a prank call.”

“But that is not possible, as how can someone change the ringtone of his telephone?” argued Andrew.

“Maybe he was hallucinating because he forgot to take his pills.”

“But still, even if I was hallucinating, it is nearly impossible that the coordinates that I heard were of a real haunted and mysterious place,” said Felix.

“What do you mean?” asked Stalin.

“When I searched about those coordinates, I found something very strange and mysterious,” Felix said while giving those documents to Andrew and Stalin and also turning the laptop to their side.

“So, you were not hallucinating,” said Stalin.

“Of course, I was not hallucinating. I am not mental. I only take those pills because you forced me to,” said Felix angrily.

There was a sense of urgency in his face while Andrew was analyzing the documents and Stalin read research articles on the internet. Felix was also very angry as Stalin again told him he was mental, although he didn’t say it directly. Felix was the best detective among them also. So, he believed that Stalin was always jealous of him; that’s why he spread the rumor that he was mentally sick and needed medications. He only took those pills because Andrew asked him to, but when he got to know that those pills were given to him by a psychiatrist, he stopped taking them.

“Please don’t start again. We have a bigger problem to focus on,” said Andrew to stop Stalin from making further arguments.

“But this only has that the place is haunted, and the reason is unknown. This is not useful,” said Andrew.

“Is there anything useful on the internet?” asked Andrew.

“No, I think you were hallucinating again,” said Stalin with a sense of jealousy and mystery.

“No, I was not hallucinating. I am not mental. If you guys don’t trust me, I will work alone and prove to you that I am not mental,” said Felix angrily.

He collected all his documents and his laptop and left the office angrily.

“You know that he is ill. You should not directly call him mental like that,” said Andrew.

“But I thought that it was necessary to make him realize his situation, and he started taking those pills,” said Stalin with a sense of sorrow in his voice.

“I know that your intentions are good, but didn’t you see his anger and uneasiness in his voice? If we directly tell him or ask to take those pills, this could worsen his mental health,” said Andrew and sat on a chair in front of the table where Felix laid those documents.

“But his situation is becoming worse day by day,” said Stalin.

“Yeah, now he is getting more hallucinations,” said Andrew. “We have to think of something really quick, or we will lose our best friend.”

“I feel really very bad for him. I can’t believe how a small incident can give a huge trauma to such an intelligent detective that he is now mad and is stuck in a delusion,” said Stalin with tears falling from his eyes.

“Yes, his condition is not good. Now he can’t even differentiate between day and night. According to him, it is approximately 5 am in the morning, while it’s actually 4 pm,” said Andrew.

“Yes, we can’t leave him alone for long. I think we should report his condition to the doctor and ask for his advice,” said Stalin.

“But then we have to tell the complete truth. We can’t do this,” said Andrew.

“We have done very bad to him. I think we have to commit everything to the doctor and the police,” said Stalin.

“What we did was under pressure, and we cannot confess everything, as it could also result in more trouble for him, as he will have to face the reality for which he is not ready,” said Andrew.
