Child of Chaos
The Child of Chaos
The day Charma was born was nothing like a regular day.
The sky was dark as if night had swallowed the afternoon, thunder rumbled endlessly across the clouds, and the wind pushed violently through the trees while rain splashed against the earth in restless waves.
Everything about the atmosphere felt chaotic, as though the universe itself had been disturbed by something powerful entering existence.
Inside a small home beneath the roaring storm, a baby girl had just come into the world. Her name was Charma, the daughter of Ambrose and Lila, two beings whose existence alone was rare. Ambrose was a Tycitus, one of the watchers of time, while Lila was a Calaxii mage, a race known for their deep connection to magic and life force. Many who looked at the newborn would have simply said she was “cute as a button,” a tiny child wrapped gently in cloth and sleeping peacefully. Yet hidden behind that innocent appearance was a truth far greater than anyone outside that room could understand.
Charma had been born under an ancient prophecy passed down through Lila’s lineage, one that foretold the birth of a fifth-generation baby girl who would possess the magic of the universe itself. The prophecy said that child would hold the power to either save the universe or destroy.
Lightning ripped through the sky above the house as Ambrose gently lifted the child into his arms. His face softened with pride as he looked down at her tiny face. “I’m so happy we were blessed with such a beautiful baby girl,” he said quietly. Lila, exhausted but glowing with happiness, smiled warmly as she looked at their daughter. “I know,” she replied softly. “She is the apple of my womb and the reason of my being. In my bloodline it has always been said that the fifth-generation baby girl would carry the magic of all things.” Her voice lowered slightly as she continued. “She will either save the world or destroy it.”
For a brief moment Charma’s small eyes opened, staring toward the storm outside. Strangely, the thunder stopped. The rain softened. The wind calmed. It was as if the universe had paused to acknowledge her arrival.
For the next few years life seemed peaceful. Lila embraced motherhood with devotion, determined to protect her child from any harm that might come from the prophecy she carried. Ambrose watched carefully over time itself, often sensing disturbances that others could never feel.
Charma grew as any normal child would, laughing, exploring, and learning the world around her. Yet there was always a feeling that something about her was different. That truth revealed itself one quiet evening when the sun was setting and the sky glowed orange over the horizon. Lila, Ambrose, and little Charma decided to go out for a walk together, enjoying the calm moment as a family. Everything seemed normal until suddenly the sky split open with a violent beam of light.
“VMMMMM!”
A powerful blast shot directly toward them from above. Another followed immediately after, then another, striking the ground with explosive force. The smell of burning energy filled the air while the earth beneath their feet trembled.
Lila instinctively stepped in front of Charma. “Who’s doing that?!” she shouted in panic. Ambrose stared in disbelief at what was happening around them. Each time a beam descended toward the child, a glowing blue shield suddenly appeared, blocking the attack before it could reach her. The shields formed repeatedly, one after another, surrounding Charma in a protective cocoon of light. Ambrose realized the truth almost instantly. “It’s Charma,” he said quietly, still stunned. The three-year-old sat calmly in his arms, completely unaware of the chaos around her. She wasn’t casting the shields intentionally. The energy was responding instinctively to protect her.
Neither Lila nor Ambrose had ever seen anything like it before. Even powerful Calaxii mages required immense life force to produce shields of that strength, and Charma had created them effortlessly without even knowing she was doing it. The couple quickly fled the area once the attacks stopped, their minds racing with confusion.
Later that night, while Charma slept peacefully in her room, Lila stood beside the bed watching her daughter. The sight of the child resting so calmly after such a terrifying event filled her with both love and worry. “My child there’s so much I have to say,” she whispered softly while brushing Charma’s forehead. “But first I need answers.” Determined to understand what had happened, Lila stepped outside and launched into the night sky, flying swiftly through the darkness until she arrived at an abandoned factory surrounded by piles of rusted metal and broken machinery.
The factory looked deserted, but the moment she stepped inside she realized the place had been carefully guarded. Hidden traps lined the building beams of energy, mechanical triggers, and explosive devices placed in almost every corner.
For most people it would have been impossible to pass through safely, but Lila was not just any mage. She had once been known across many territories as the Mage of Many Talents, a champion who had mastered countless magical techniques. Moving with precision and confidence, she passed through every obstacle until she finally reached the office area inside the factory.
“Reina?” she called out, hoping to hear a familiar voice. There was no response. As she searched the room, she noticed a bed pushed against the wall with a figure lying under a sheet. Her heart sank as she pulled the cloth back. Reina was dead. Lila leaned closer, studying the strange symbol carved into Reina’s skin. It looked like a circle with sharp lines crossing through it, almost like something trying to contain energy. Lila recognized it from old records about extremist groups that believed the universe must exist in perfect order. To them, chaos was dangerous and had to be eliminated. A cold feeling rushed through her chest. If this symbol belonged to who she thought it did, then Reina had not just been killed for information. She had been marked as a warning. And if they knew about Charma, her daughter could already be their next target.
Shock rushed through Lila’s body as she stared at the lifeless form of her closest friend. Carved into Reina’s body was a strange symbol she had never seen before. The sight made Lila dizzy, forcing her to steady herself against the desk nearby. She knew she couldn’t stay long. Whoever had done this might still be nearby. Quickly she searched through the drawers of Reina’s desk and discovered several files containing information that immediately caught her attention. The folders were labeled “Ordinaries,” “Irregulars,” and most disturbing of all “Charma.” Realizing the danger of what she had found as if Reina was gathering info. Lila grabbed the files and fled the building before anyone returned.
Reina had not always been a victim. She had once been the daughter of one of the greatest military leaders on the planet Gilmantria, a world famous for its war culture and advanced machinery.
As a child Reina admired combat and strategy but her true passion was technology. She had the rare ability to understand machines instantly, taking broken devices apart and rebuilding them into powerful new inventions.
Her mother had hoped she would become the next leader of the Gilman army, but Reina never wanted that responsibility. On the day of Pontisa, the ceremonial event where the future heir would take control, Reina shocked everyone by running away.
For days she wandered the streets alone until one night she defended an elderly man using inventions she had built from scrap metal. It was during that moment that Lila appeared, impressed by Reina’s creativity. From that day forward the two traveled the universe together as allies and family, forming a bond that could not easily be broken.
Reina’s death led Lila to reopen parts of her past she had hoped never to revisit. While Ambrose watched over Charma, Lila spent every day searching for the truth behind the mysterious files and the strange symbol carved into Reina’s body.
During her investigation she encountered Spear, Reina’s younger sister and a powerful warrior of Gilmantria. At first their meeting was tense, but once Spear revealed she was also searching for her sister’s killer, they realized they were chasing the same enemy. Their search eventually uncovered the existence of a cult known as the Justifiers, a secret organization made up of both ordinaries and irregulars who believed the universe needed strict order. According to rumors, they planned to eliminate powerful individuals who could disrupt their vision of balance.
Following clues from multiple sources, Lila and Spear discovered that members of the Justifiers were secretly gathering at a bar known as Drinks Up.
Outside the building a long line formed in a dark alley where individuals were tested before entering. Only those who possessed a Justifier symbol and a certain level of power were allowed inside. With no other options, Spear suggested using magic to replicate the symbol and create an illusion of acceptable power levels. Lila hesitated, explaining that Calaxii magic required emotional energy and life force, but eventually she agreed. After casting the spell, the illusion worked perfectly. They passed through the security checks and entered the bar where music blasted and crowds danced under flashing lights. Hidden among the chaos were the Justifiers themselves.
After searching through the crowd and gathering information, the lights suddenly shut off and a spotlight illuminated the stage. A man stepped forward and the entire room went silent.
“I am Magnus,” he announced proudly. “Leader of the Justifiers. We are here to eliminate the unrighteous and kill the Gifted One.” Hearing those words confirmed everything Lila feared. Charma was their target. Acting quickly, Lila and Spear followed Magnus backstage, ambushed him, and restrained him to force answers from him. Magnus confessed that Reina had been killed because she had played a role in the creation of Charma. But before he could reveal anything more, Spear drove her blade into his chest in a moment of rage. Magnus’s body burst into flames and vanished into ashes.
Although they had stopped the cult leader that night, Lila couldn’t shake the feeling that the truth was far more complicated than it seemed.
Back at home, Charma continued growing, unaware that powerful forces across the universe had already begun moving against her. Soon she would enter a new chapter of her life, one where she would begin training, discovering the mysteries of her abilities, and slowly learning the terrifying truth behind the prophecy tied to her birth.
And somewhere beyond the safety of her home, hidden within the darkness of the universe, something else had begun to awaken something connected to Charma’s destiny that had been waiting for the moment when the Child of Chaos would finally discover who she truly was.
