Target Acquired

Location: Venice, Italy
Harlan could feel the sweat trickle down his face. He wiped the sweat off his face and continued walking from rooftop to rooftop, sniper rifle in his hand, silently counting the buildings. Eleven, twelve, thirteen… He could hear the boat engines. The people walking, talking, eating, flirting. He did his best to block them out, but how could you?
Twenty, twenty one, twenty two, twenty three.
Harlan stopped. He knelt down, fixed his sniper rifle, loaded it with ammo, lowered himself down and adjusted his sniper rifle, aiming it at the window across him, ready to shoot as he watches four men enter a room. He watched as one man handed a man with a bodyguard a suitcase. As the man opened it, Harlan couldn’t help but wonder what was in it. Money? Drugs? Bomb?
Harlan took a moment to consider his options, think about what to do. He was sent to assassinate the man with the suitcase, but he didn’t expect this much people. And… He couldn’t help it… What was in the case?
As the agent considered his options, a flare of light hit one of the men in the eye. He quickly turned to the window to see the T.H.E.P.A. agent outside. Realizing that he has been made, Harlan pulled the trigger, shooting one of the men and watches as the man with the briefcase, along with two men, run out the building. Harlan cursed as he dropped his gun and ran down the building, finding himself in the middle of the busy street. As he noticed the man with the suitcase running, Harlan ran after him. He chased him through the narrow streets to the ports of Venice.
The man took out his gun and shot at Harlan, who took cover while the man with the briefcase and his bodyguard got in a speedboat and began drive off. The other man was about to get on his own speedboat when Harlan grabbed him and threw him off the boat and drove after the man with the suitcase.
Harlan chased the man through the narrow canals of Venice, Italy. The man looked back and sped up as he sees Harlan right behind, chasing him.
Harlan sped up, trying to catch up with the man but the man brought out his gun and started shooting. Harlan ducked and continued speeding up, catching up with the man before jumping onto the other boat. A fight ensued with Harlan and the bodyguard as Harlan punches and throws the bodyguard off the boat. The man with the suitcase then took out a gun but Harlan punched it away almost immediately. He tried hitting Harlan with the suitcase but Harlan just caught the suitcase, slammed it to his face, then kicked the man off the boat.
Harlan looked back and smiled to himself as he slowed down. Curious, he opened the suitcase, to find a picture of a man. Harlan looked at the picture with a sense of familiarity. After wondering for a while, he put the picture back in the suitcase, shutting it and driving off.
