# *The Book of Death*

## ✦ Chapter 1: Six People, Zero Brain Cells

The evening was beautiful.

Soft orange sky, cool breeze, birds flying home, peaceful silence…

…and six students standing on the second-floor balcony, doing absolutely nothing useful.

Khushi stretched dramatically. “This weather feels illegal. Something mysterious should happen.”

Kabir leaned on the railing. “Yeah, like you finally passing math.”

Riya suddenly froze. “Wait.”

Everyone looked at her.

“What if ghosts also come out in good weather? Like… they’re like ‘wow nice breeze, let’s haunt people’?”

Aarav closed his eyes. “I regret being friends with you.”

Vihaan smirked. “Speaking of ghosts… there’s a myth in our school.”

Instant attention.

Khushi: “If this is about homework ghosts, I’m leaving.”

Vihaan whispered dramatically, “There’s a mysterious book. A Book of Death.”

Riya gasped. “Does it have pictures?”

Meera: “Focus.”

Kabir grinned. “Let’s find it.”

Aarav: “No.”

Khushi: “Yes.”

Riya: “Will we die?”

Kabir: “Probably.”

Riya: “Okay I’m in.”

And just like that…

Six people with zero survival instinct decided to go on a horror adventure.

---

## ✦ Chapter 2: Investigation Level: Useless

They walked through corridors like detectives.

Except they were not detectives.

They were confused.

Riya opened a random classroom. “What if it’s here?”

It was empty.

She nodded seriously. “Suspicious.”

Kabir opened another room.

It was the staff room.

They immediately ran.

Khushi whispered, “Guys I feel like something is watching us.”

Aarav pointed. “That’s literally the CCTV.”

Riya waved at it. “Hello camera uncle.”

Finally, they reached the library.

The atmosphere changed.

Quiet.

Dusty.

Creepy.

Meera whispered, “This is where it would be.”

Riya picked up a random book. “Is this it?”

Aarav: “That’s a dictionary.”

Riya: “Too dangerous. Put it back.”

Then—

Khushi stopped.

“…guys.”

She was holding a black book.

Dark. Heavy. Weird.

A strange death symbol was on it, and in the center—a diamond-shaped hollow.

Kabir leaned in. “Okay that’s definitely not normal.”

Riya poked it. “Maybe it’s shy.”

Khushi: “It’s not a cat, Riya.”

---

## ✦ Chapter 3: Open, Please? No? Okay.

They sat around the book like it was a science experiment.

Khushi tried to open it.

Nothing.

She shook it.

Nothing.

Riya suggested, “Try blowing on it like old game cartridges.”

Khushi actually tried.

Nothing.

Aarav pointed at the hollow. “Something fits here.”

Vihaan snapped. “A key!”

Riya: “Or a biscuit?”

Everyone ignored her.

After searching literally everywhere like lost treasure hunters, they ended up in the principal’s office.

Kabir whispered, “If we get caught, I’m fainting.”

Khushi whispered, “If we get caught, I’m blaming you.”

Meera opened a drawer.

Inside—

A diamond-shaped stone.

Everyone froze.

Aarav: “This is very illegal.”

Khushi: “I’m doing it.”

She placed the stone into the book.

*Click.*

The book opened.

And instantly—

“AAAAAAAAAAAA!”

Vihaan got sucked inside like a vacuum cleaner attacked him.

And something else came out.

---

## ✦ Chapter 4: This Is Not Our Friend

The thing that came out looked like Vihaan.

But wrong.

Very wrong.

His face was slightly twisted.

His eyes were angry.

Like he failed every subject and blamed everyone else.

Riya screamed, “THAT IS NOT OUR VIHAAN. OUR VIHAAN IS LESS SCARY AND MORE STUPID.”

The creature stared.

Khushi whispered, “Why is it looking at me like I owe it money?”

Kabir: “Run.”

They ran.

Fast.

Very fast.

Khushi (running): “WHY DID I TOUCH THE BOOK?!”

Aarav (running): “EXCELLENT QUESTION, WRONG TIMING!”

Riya (running): “WHAT IF IT’S FRIENDLY?!”

The creature growled loudly.

Riya: “Okay not friendly.”

They hid behind a wall.

Everyone breathing heavily.

Silence.

Kabir whispered, “We lost it.”

The creature appeared right behind them.

Everyone screamed again and ran.

---

## ✦ Chapter 5: Because We Clearly Didn’t Learn

Khushi was still holding the book.

Aarav noticed. “WHY. ARE. YOU. STILL. HOLDING. IT.”

Khushi froze. “Oh.”

Then—

She accidentally opened another page.

Everyone: “NOOOOO—”

Kabir got sucked in.

“HELP—”

And another creature came out.

This one looked like Kabir.

But… angrier.

And not funny.

Riya whispered, “This is illegal cloning.”

Meera: “STOP OPENING THE BOOK.”

Khushi: “I’M NOT DOING IT ON PURPOSE!”

Aarav: “YOU LITERALLY ARE!”

The two creatures stood there.

Watching.

Breathing heavily.

Looking like they were planning something.

Riya: “Do they eat people?”

Kabir-creature tilted its head.

Riya: “Okay that’s a yes.”

---

## ✦ Chapter 6: Feeding Time Gone Wrong

They found letters.

Khushi read:

“Do not open the Book of Death.”

Everyone stared at her.

Khushi: “…I feel attacked.”

Second letter:

“Feed what comes out… or they will grow.”

Riya blinked. “Feed them what? Our hopes and dreams?”

Aarav: “Food.”

They ran to the canteen.

Chaos.

Khushi grabbed samosas.

Riya grabbed chips.

Meera grabbed juice.

They threw food at the creatures.

The creatures stared.

Did not move.

Aarav: “Why are they not eating?”

Riya: “Maybe they’re on a diet.”

Kabir-creature growled louder.

Vihaan-creature stepped forward.

And then—

They started growing.

Slowly.

But clearly.

Taller.

Scarier.

Much scarier.

Khushi screamed, “WHY ARE THEY GROWING?!”

Aarav yelled, “BECAUSE THEY’RE NOT EATING!”

Riya panicked, “EAT THE SAMOSA PLEASE WE PAID FOR IT!”

The creatures ignored them.

And grew even taller.

---

## ✦ Chapter 7: This Is Definitely the End

Everything was chaos.

Two tall, angry, terrifying creatures.

Four panicking students.

Zero plans.

Aarav shouted, “If there’s a Book of Death, there must be a Book of Life!”

Hope.

Tiny, desperate hope.

They ran again.

Searching everywhere.

Classrooms.

Labs.

Storage rooms.

Falling.

Slipping.

Arguing.

Riya: “What if the life book is also angry?”

Khushi: “Please don’t manifest that.”

They found a hidden room.

Inside—

Another book.

Glowing faintly.

Calm.

Beautiful.

Khushi picked it up.

Aarav: “Wait—think—”

Khushi opened it.

Bright light filled the room.

Everything stopped.

The creatures froze.

For one second…

Hope.

Then—

The light disappeared.

Silence.

Slowly…

They turned around.

The creatures were still there.

But now—

Even taller.

Even closer.

Even angrier.

Riya whispered, “They didn’t shrink…”

Aarav’s voice shook. “Because… we never fed them…”

The creatures took a step forward.

The ground felt heavier.

The air colder.

Khushi held the book tightly.

And for the first time…

No one had a joke.

No one had a plan.

No one moved.

Riya looked at everyone.

Voice trembling.

“…what are we gonna do now?”

## ✦ Chapter 1: Trapped, Terrified… and Still Arguing

The door slammed shut with a loud *BANG* that echoed through the empty classroom.

Khushi didn’t even think—she grabbed the nearest table and dragged it across the floor with a horrible screeching sound.

“Help me!” she yelled.

Aarav rushed forward, grabbing chairs, desks, anything he could find. “Move, move, MOVE!”

Riya, meanwhile, was sitting in the corner, hugging her knees like she had already accepted her fate.

“I think… I think I’m going to faint,” she whispered dramatically.

Aarav didn’t even look at her. “You’ve been ‘about to faint’ since Chapter 1.”

“Wow,” Riya snapped, instantly not fainting anymore. “This is how you talk to your girlfriend? In front of death?”

Khushi paused mid-drag. “Wait, this is the moment you both choose to discuss your relationship?”

“Yes,” both of them said at the same time.

*THUD.*

Something hit the door from outside.

All three froze.

*THUD.*

This time harder.

The wood trembled.

Riya slowly turned toward the door, her voice shaking. “That’s… not the wind, right?”

Aarav whispered, “That’s definitely not the wind.”

Khushi slowly stepped back, clutching the Book of Death tightly.

Her hands were trembling now.

The earlier chaos… the jokes… the stupidity…

It was all catching up.

*CRACK.*

A thin line appeared on the door.

Riya whispered, “We forgot to feed them…”

Aarav closed his eyes in frustration. “Of course we did. Of course we forgot the ONE thing that keeps them from growing.”

Khushi slid down the wall, her breath uneven.

“What if we can’t fix this?” she whispered.

Meera, who had been silent all along, spoke softly, “We will.”

Her calm voice somehow made it worse.

Because it meant this was real.

*THUD.*

The crack grew bigger.

Khushi suddenly stood up. “No. We are not dying in a classroom.”

---

## ✦ Chapter 2: Window Escape = Regret Immediately

Khushi ran toward the window and pushed it open.

Cold evening air rushed in.

Freedom.

Or… something close to it.

Riya looked out and immediately stepped back. “That’s not a window. That’s a death invitation.”

Aarav joined her. “It’s two floors. We’ll survive.”

Riya: “YOU will survive. I will become a ghost.”

A loud *BANG* shook the door again.

This time, part of it broke.

A long, unnatural shadow slipped through the crack.

Khushi didn’t wait.

“I’m jumping.”

Before anyone could stop her—

She climbed out and jumped.

“KHUSHI—”

Aarav followed immediately.

Then Meera.

Riya stood there alone for one second.

“…I hate all of you.”

She jumped.

And screamed the entire way down.

They landed in the school ground in the least graceful way possible.

Khushi rolled and hit a bush.

Aarav landed and immediately lost balance.

Riya landed, sat there for a moment, and then said, “I saw my ancestors.”

Meera stood up calmly. “We should move.”

*CRASH.*

They all looked up.

The window shattered.

Two massive figures stood there.

Watching.

Even taller now.

Khushi whispered, “Run.”

And they ran.

---

## ✦ Chapter 3: Library of Panic

The library door burst open as they rushed in.

Khushi locked it instantly, her hands shaking.

The room was smaller than they remembered.

Shelves packed closely together.

Dust floating in the air.

The silence felt heavier than before.

Aarav clapped his hands. “Okay. Focus. We are looking for the Book of Life.”

Riya picked up a book randomly. “What if this is it?”

Aarav glanced. “That’s ‘Basic Chemistry.’”

Riya dropped it like it burned her. “Too complicated. Next.”

Khushi moved quickly between shelves, her heartbeat loud in her ears.

Her thoughts kept repeating—

*This is my fault.*

*I opened the book.*

*I kept carrying it.*

She shook her head. “No. Focus.”

Meera carefully checked the corners. “Look for anything unusual.”

Riya: “Everything here is unusual. It’s a library.”

Books started falling as they searched faster.

Panic rising.

Time slipping.

Then—

“Guys,” Meera said.

A small folded letter.

Khushi grabbed it and opened it.

Her voice trembled as she read:

“Find the Book of Life. It holds the answer.”

Silence.

Riya blinked. “Great. Another clue with no instructions.”

Aarav: “Keep searching!”

---

## ✦ Chapter 4: Relationship Drama vs Survival

The search turned chaotic.

Books everywhere.

Shelves shaking.

Voices rising.

Aarav: “Riya, STOP picking random books!”

Riya: “What if it’s hidden inside one?!”

Aarav: “This is a children’s storybook!”

Riya: “Maybe the monsters like bedtime stories!”

Khushi snapped, “FOCUS!”

Riya crossed her arms. “You’re always shouting at me.”

Aarav turned to her. “Because you’re not listening!”

“You’re being rude!”

“You’re being illogical!”

“You’re being annoying!”

“You’re being loud!”

Khushi turned slowly. “I swear I will throw both of you to the monsters as a peace offering.”

Silence.

Then Riya, suddenly dramatic, stepped forward.

“Fine. I’ll distract them.”

Everyone froze.

Aarav: “No.”

Riya: “Yes. I will sacrifice myself.”

Khushi walked up to her slowly.

Raised her hand.

Almost slapped her.

“In two minutes, they will eat you. In those same two minutes, we will not find the book. This is a LOSS-LOSS situation.”

Riya blinked. “…oh.”

Meera added calmly, “Also, you’re not that distracting.”

Riya: “I feel attacked by everyone.”

---

## ✦ Chapter 5: When Fear Becomes Silence

The library door creaked open.

Slowly.

Painfully slow.

The creatures entered.

Now enormous.

Their heads nearly touching the ceiling.

Their presence filled the room.

But they didn’t attack.

They just… stared.

Unblinking.

Heavy.

Terrifying.

Khushi felt her breath stop.

This was worse than chasing.

This silence.

This waiting.

Riya whispered, “Why are they not doing anything?”

Aarav replied quietly, “Because they don’t need to rush.”

The creatures took one step forward.

The floor vibrated slightly.

Riya waved nervously. “Hi…”

The creature tilted its head.

Aarav whispered, “Stop interacting with them!”

They slowly moved backward.

Searching.

Shaking.

Praying.

---

## ✦ Chapter 6: The Book That Felt Alive

Khushi’s hand brushed against a book.

She froze.

It felt… warm.

Different.

She slowly pulled it out.

It glowed faintly.

Soft light.

Calm energy.

Her heart pounded.

“Guys…”

Everyone turned.

Aarav whispered, “That’s it.”

Khushi held it carefully.

Like it might disappear.

She opened it.

Light spread across the room.

The creatures froze again.

The pages flipped.

Words appeared—

“To undo death, return what was taken.”

“Feed not the monsters, but the book.”

Riya: “WHY ARE THESE INSTRUCTIONS SO CONFUSING?!”

Meera: “The book took them… the book must return them.”

Aarav nodded. “We combine both books.”

Khushi’s hands shook as she opened the Book of Death again.

The creatures growled.

Louder.

Closer.

The room trembled.

Aarav shouted, “NOW!”

Khushi placed the Book of Life over it.

Light exploded.

Blinding.

Everything shook violently.

Riya screamed. “I TAKE BACK EVERYTHING I SAID ABOUT BOOKS!”

---

## ✦ Chapter 7: Chaos Ends… Kind Of

Silence.

Slowly… the light faded.

Khushi opened her eyes.

Shapes formed.

Figures on the ground.

Vihaan.

Kabir.

She gasped. “They’re back!”

Everyone rushed to them.

Aarav checked quickly. “They’re breathing.”

Kabir opened one eye. “Why does it feel like I went through a washing machine?”

Vihaan groaned. “Why is everything spinning?”

Riya hugged them both at once. “YOU IDIOTS YOU LEFT US!”

Khushi laughed.

For real this time.

Relief flooding her.

The creatures—

Gone.

Completely.

Like they never existed.

Meera looked around. “It’s over.”

Riya: “We survived.”

Aarav: “Barely.”

Khushi looked at both books in her hands.

Now silent.

Still.

Harmless.

She exhaled slowly.

“…we are never opening random books again.”

Riya nodded seriously. “Yes. Only textbooks from now on.”

Kabir: “That’s even worse.”

Everyone laughed.

Messy.

Exhausted.

Alive.

And still…

Absolutely chaotic.

---

## ✦ Sometimes, the scariest things aren’t monsters…

They’re the decisions you make with your friends.

And somehow…

Those are also the things that save you.

## ✦ Chapter 1: Something Feels… Off

The school looked normal again.

Too normal.

The same corridors. The same walls. The same sunlight slipping through the windows like nothing had ever happened.

Khushi stood near the balcony—the same second-floor balcony where everything had started.

Her fingers tightened around the railing.

“It’s over,” Riya said, walking up beside her. “We survived. We should celebrate.”

Khushi forced a smile. “Yeah… we should.”

But something didn’t feel right.

Behind them, Aarav and Kabir were arguing over something completely stupid.

“You literally dropped the chips,” Aarav said.

Kabir rolled his eyes. “IT WAS A STRATEGIC DROP.”

Vihaan laughed. “You threw it at the wall.”

Riya whispered, “See? Everything is normal.”

Khushi nodded slowly.

Too normal.

She turned toward them. “Do you guys… remember everything?”

Kabir shrugged. “I remember getting sucked into a book. Not my best moment.”

Vihaan stretched. “Yeah, and then darkness… and then I woke up. Done.”

Khushi frowned.

“That’s it?”

Aarav looked at her. “What else should we remember?”

Khushi hesitated.

Everything felt… incomplete.

Like a story with missing pages.

That night, Khushi couldn’t sleep.

The words from the Book of Life echoed in her mind—

*“What is returned is not always whole.”*

She sat up suddenly.

Her breathing uneven.

Her eyes moved slowly across the room.

Everything was quiet.

But then—

She noticed it.

Her shadow.

It moved…

a second too late.

Khushi froze.

“…no.”

---

## ✦ Chapter 2: The Small Differences

The next day felt heavier.

Not physically.

But mentally.

Khushi couldn’t stop watching her friends.

Every move. Every expression. Every reaction.

Something was wrong.

She just didn’t know what.

It started small.

Too small.

Kabir laughed at a joke.

But stopped suddenly.

Mid-laugh.

Like someone pressed pause.

Khushi stared.

“…why did you stop?”

Kabir blinked. “Stop what?”

“You were laughing.”

“I was?”

Khushi said nothing.

Later—

Riya walked into a door.

A literal door.

Aarav sighed. “How do you not see a door?”

Riya frowned. “I thought it was open.”

“It was closed.”

“No, it wasn’t.”

“Yes, it was.”

They started arguing immediately.

Normal.

Very normal.

But then—

Riya suddenly went silent.

Her expression… blank.

For a second.

Just a second.

Then she snapped back. “Whatever, you’re annoying.”

Khushi’s stomach dropped.

Meera noticed too.

That was the scary part.

They didn’t say it out loud.

But their eyes met.

And both of them knew.

That afternoon, Khushi pulled Meera aside.

“Tell me I’m not imagining things.”

Meera hesitated.

Then said quietly—

“You’re not.”

Khushi’s breath caught.

Meera continued, “They’re… slightly off. Like something is missing. Or… something extra is there.”

Khushi whispered, “The book…”

Meera nodded.

*“The book remembers.”*

And maybe…

it didn’t give everything back.

---

## ✦ Chapter 3: The Reflection That Wasn’t Yours

Khushi stood in front of the mirror.

Her room felt colder than usual.

Her reflection stared back at her.

Normal.

Perfectly normal.

She leaned closer.

“So this is just in my head…” she whispered.

Her reflection didn’t answer.

Of course it didn’t.

She let out a small laugh. “I’m going insane.”

She turned away—

And froze.

Something felt wrong.

Slowly…

very slowly…

she turned back toward the mirror.

Her reflection…

was still facing forward.

Not turned.

Not moving.

Just… staring.

Khushi’s breath stopped.

“…no.”

Her reflection smiled.

A slow… unnatural smile.

Khushi stumbled back.

The reflection leaned forward slightly—

But she hadn’t moved.

A voice.

Soft.

Whispering.

“You opened it.”

Khushi shook her head. “No—no, this isn’t real—”

“You carried it.”

Her hands trembled.

“You didn’t listen.”

The reflection’s eyes darkened.

“What is taken… leaves a mark.”

Khushi grabbed the mirror and turned it away violently.

Her heart pounded loudly in her ears.

She backed away.

Shaking.

Tears forming.

“…it’s not over.”

And deep down—

She knew.

It had never been over.

---

## ✦ Chapter 4: The Truth Inside the Book

Khushi didn’t wait.

She ran back to school.

Straight to the library.

The others followed, confused.

“Why are we here again?” Kabir asked.

“Because something is wrong!” Khushi snapped.

Aarav frowned. “You’ve been saying that all day.”

“Because it IS!”

She reached the shelf.

The same one.

Her hands moved quickly—

And there it was.

The Book of Life.

It felt different now.

Heavier.

Colder.

Riya whispered, “Are we seriously doing this again?”

Khushi ignored her.

She opened it.

The pages flipped on their own.

Faster this time.

Words appeared—

*“What is returned is not always whole.”*

*“What is sealed is not always gone.”*

*“The book remembers.”*

The room fell silent.

Aarav read slowly. “…what does that mean?”

Meera answered, “It means we didn’t fix anything.”

Riya blinked. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE DIDN’T FIX ANYTHING?!”

Kabir looked at Vihaan. “You feel normal, right?”

Vihaan nodded. “…I think so.”

Khushi looked at all of them.

Her voice barely above a whisper.

“You’re not.”

Silence.

Then—

The lights flickered.

Once.

Twice.

Then went out.

Darkness.

And in that darkness—

Something moved.

---

## ✦ Chapter 5: The Ones Who Came Back

The emergency lights flickered on.

Dim.

Red.

Unnatural.

Khushi’s eyes adjusted slowly.

Her friends stood around her.

Still.

Too still.

Riya smiled.

But her eyes—

Empty.

Aarav spoke. “Khushi… calm down.”

His voice was normal.

Too normal.

Kabir stepped forward. “You’re overthinking.”

Vihaan nodded. “Everything is fine.”

Meera grabbed Khushi’s arm tightly.

Too tightly.

“Don’t listen to them.”

Khushi’s heart pounded.

“Why?”

Meera whispered—

“Because I can hear them.”

Khushi froze. “Hear what?”

Meera’s voice trembled.

“The things inside them.”

Silence.

Then—

All of them turned.

At the same time.

Perfect synchronization.

Their smiles widened.

Slightly.

Unnaturally.

Aarav spoke again—

But his voice…

wasn’t just his.

“We came back.”

Riya tilted her head.

“We were let out.”

Kabir smiled wider.

“But we are not empty.”

Vihaan stepped closer.

“We remember.”

Khushi stepped back.

Trembling.

“…you’re not them.”

Aarav’s smile didn’t fade.

“No.”

Pause.

“We’re more.”

---

## ✦ Chapter 6: The Chaos Returns

Everything broke at once.

“RUN!” Khushi shouted.

They ran.

Again.

Just like before.

But this time—

It felt worse.

Because these weren’t just monsters.

These were their friends.

Or what looked like them.

Riya’s voice echoed behind them, distorted—

“Why are you running? We’re your friends!”

Aarav’s voice followed—

“Stop. We can fix this.”

Kabir laughed.

But it wasn’t funny.

Vihaan’s footsteps were faster.

Closer.

Too close.

Khushi grabbed Meera’s hand. “We need the Book of Death.”

Meera nodded. “It’s the only way.”

They rushed toward the principal’s office.

Again.

Full circle.

Khushi’s thoughts raced—

*This never ended.*

*We just made it worse.*

*The book remembers.*

Behind them—

Footsteps stopped.

Silence.

They turned slowly.

The corridor was empty.

Completely empty.

Riya’s voice echoed softly—

“Why are you scared of us?”

Khushi whispered, “Because you’re not you.”

The lights flickered again.

And for a second—

They saw them.

Standing right behind them.

Smiling.

---

## ✦ Chapter 7: The Choice

Khushi held both books.

Hands shaking.

Heart racing.

Her friends—no—

*those things* stood in front of her.

Waiting.

Watching.

Aarav spoke softly—

“You can stop this.”

Riya smiled.

“Just don’t fight it.”

Kabir added—

“We’re stronger like this.”

Vihaan stepped closer.

“Join us.”

Khushi’s breath trembled.

Tears filled her eyes.

“You’re not real.”

Aarav tilted his head.

“We are what you brought back.”

Silence.

The words from the book echoed again—

*“What is sealed is not always gone.”*

Khushi looked down at the books.

Then back at them.

Then whispered—

“…then I’ll seal you again.”

The room went still.

Aarav’s smile faded slightly.

For the first time—

Fear.

Khushi raised the Book of Death.

Light began to form.

The air shifted.

Everything trembled.

Riya’s voice changed—

“No—wait—”

Too late.

Khushi stepped forward.

And this time—

She wasn’t scared.

---

## ✦Because this time…

she knew the truth—

Some stories don’t end when you close the book.

They wait.

Until you’re brave enough to finish them.

# *The Book of Death – Part 4: The Final Page*

---

## ✦ Chapter 1: Running… Again (Because Obviously)

“RUN!”

Khushi didn’t even remember saying it—but everyone ran anyway.

Again.

For the third time in their lives.

Same school.

Same corridors.

Same chaos.

Different problem.

Riya was running beside Aarav, slightly behind, dramatically out of breath. “I just want to say—this is NOT how I imagined my love story.”

Aarav, still running: “You imagined running from possessed versions of yourself?”

“I imagined food. And peace.”

“Wrong friend group.”

Behind them—

Their “friends” followed.

Same faces.

Different presence.

Kabir’s voice echoed, “Why are you running? We just want to talk!”

Riya yelled back while running, “YOU TALK LIKE A HORROR MOVIE VILLAIN!”

Vihaan suddenly appeared at the corner ahead of them.

They all screamed and turned the other way.

Khushi shouted, “WHY ARE THEY EVERYWHERE?!”

Meera replied calmly while running, “Because this is no longer about space—it’s about the book controlling perception.”

Riya: “NOT THE TIME FOR INTELLIGENCE!”

They finally reached the staircase.

Stopped.

Panting.

Khushi held both books tightly.

Her hands shaking—but her eyes determined.

“This ends today.”

Aarav looked at her. “…you sound like you have a plan.”

Khushi blinked.

“…I don’t.”

Riya: “Great. Love that.”

---

## ✦ Chapter 2: The Worst Plan Ever (But It’s All We Have)

They locked themselves in a classroom again.

Because clearly, they never learn.

Kabir’s voice echoed from outside, “You think doors work on us now?”

Riya whispered, “That sounded personal.”

Aarav paced back and forth. “Think. Think. THINK.”

Khushi looked at the books.

The Book of Death.

The Book of Life.

“Balance,” she murmured.

Meera nodded. “Everything is about balance.”

Riya raised her hand like it was a class. “Yes, ma’am, what does that mean?”

Khushi looked up. “It means… we didn’t finish the process.”

Aarav frowned. “We brought them back… but we didn’t remove what came with them.”

Riya blinked. “So basically… we brought back friends with extra unwanted features?”

“Exactly.”

Riya: “Like a bad software update.”

Khushi suddenly stood up.

“We don’t need to destroy them.”

Silence.

Aarav: “Then what?”

Khushi took a deep breath.

“We separate them.”

---

## ✦ Chapter 3: The Plan That Sounds Smart (But Isn’t)

The plan was simple.

Too simple.

Which made it dangerous.

Khushi explained, “The Book of Death pulls things in. The Book of Life restores. If we use them together… we might be able to pull out whatever doesn’t belong.”

Riya raised her hand again. “What if we accidentally pull out their brain?”

Aarav: “You don’t use yours anyway.”

“EXCUSE ME?”

Meera: “Focus.”

Khushi looked at the door. “We need to face them.”

Silence.

Then—

Riya: “I vote no.”

Aarav: “Denied.”

Khushi opened the door.

Slowly.

The corridor was empty.

Too empty.

Then—

All four of them appeared.

Standing.

Smiling.

Waiting.

Aarav whispered, “This is a terrible idea.”

Khushi nodded. “I know.”

## ✦ Chapter 4: Facing Them

They stood face to face.

Originals vs… something else.

Riya looked at her version. “…why does she look more confident than me?”

Her double tilted its head. “Because I don’t hesitate.”

Aarav’s double spoke, “You all made this worse.”

Kabir’s double laughed. “But also more interesting.”

Vihaan’s double stepped forward. “You don’t need to fight.”

Khushi raised the Book of Death.

“Stay back.”

Her voice was shaking—but strong.

“You don’t belong here.”

Aarav’s double smiled slightly. “We belong more than you think.”

Khushi’s heart pounded.

Memories flashed.

The moment she picked the book.

The moment everything started.

“This is my fault,” she whispered.

Meera stepped beside her. “Then fix it.”

---

## ✦ Chapter 5: The Separation

Khushi opened both books.

At the same time.

Light.

Darkness.

Both spreading.

The air felt heavy.

Like reality itself was being pulled apart.

The doubles reacted immediately.

Their expressions changed.

For the first time—

Fear.

Riya shouted, “WHAT DO I DO?!”

Khushi yelled, “Stand still!”

Riya: “I CAN’T EVEN DO THAT NORMALLY!”

Aarav grabbed her arm. “Just don’t move!”

The light intensified.

The shadows around their friends began to separate.

Slowly.

Painfully.

Like something was being pulled out of them.

Kabir screamed.

Vihaan fell to his knees.

Riya’s eyes filled with tears. “Is this hurting them?!”

Meera said firmly, “It’s removing what doesn’t belong.”

Khushi’s hands trembled.

“This has to work…”

---

## ✦ Chapter 6: The Cost

The separation was working.

But something was wrong.

The books were reacting violently.

Khushi felt it.

A pull.

Strong.

Unstoppable.

The Book of Death wasn’t just pulling the shadows.

It was pulling her.

Aarav noticed. “Khushi—”

She shook her head. “Don’t stop me.”

Riya panicked. “STOP WHAT? YOU’RE BEING SUCKED IN!”

Khushi smiled slightly.

Tired.

Emotional.

“This started with me.”

Meera’s voice softened. “It doesn’t have to end with you.”

Khushi looked at her friends.

All of them.

Scared.

Messy.

Loud.

Annoying.

Perfect.

“It kind of does.”

Tears rolled down Riya’s face. “No. No, you’re not doing this. I didn’t survive all this just to lose you.”

Aarav stepped forward. “We’ll find another way.”

Khushi shook her head.

“There isn’t one.”

The light grew stronger.

The shadows were almost gone.

Everything was almost fixed.

She whispered—

“Take care of each other.”

---

## ✦ Chapter 7: The Final Page

Light exploded.

Then—

Silence.

When it faded—

Everything was still.

The corridor looked normal.

The books—

Gone.

Khushi—

Gone.

Riya stood frozen.

“…no.”

Aarav clenched his fists.

Meera closed her eyes.

Kabir and Vihaan stood quietly.

For once—

No jokes.

Days passed.

The school returned to normal.

Completely normal.

But the balcony…

felt different.

Riya stood there one evening.

Same breeze.

Same sky.

Tears in her eyes.

“She would’ve said something dramatic right now,” Kabir said softly.

Vihaan nodded. “And something stupid.”

Aarav looked at the sky. “…and somehow still make sense.”

Meera whispered, “She finished the story.”

Riya smiled through tears.

“…yeah.”

A soft breeze passed.

And for a moment—

It felt like someone was there.

Watching.

Not scary.

Not dark.

Just… present.

Riya looked down.

On the railing—

A faint mark.

A small symbol.

A diamond shape.

She smiled.

“…you’re still here, aren’t you?”

The wind blew gently.

And somewhere—

far beyond pages and stories—

something closed.

## ✦ Final Line

Some stories don’t end with fear…

They end with love, sacrifice, and the quiet courage to let go.

And some people—

never really leave.

They just become part of the story forever.
