Chapter 1

It had been a while since Prince Aron has been on the run. In fact it was exactly the 30th day since he and his sister, Princess Ramaira had fled from Triton, their home, their Kingdom. 30 days since the mutiny 30 days of barely making it alive, 30 days watching for every step, 3o days hiding in the forest. His sister, who was sharing his fate, was sleeping in his arms, her fever hadn’t come down yet. She was in an urgent need of shelter, food and a healer. She was a strong intelligent woman, but her 19 year of royal life hadn’t prepared her for a life on run specially not in the forest. She was well versed with laws of Triton was able to argue in court, was graceful in her diplomacy and can even yield few weapons if need arrived but she was accustomed of drinking clean boiled water not directly from the stream, she hadn’t ever slept under the canopy of trees where the floor was damp and rain water dripped from branches. He could not go back they were looking for him. He was not afraid of his fate they had offered life imprisonment in exchange of surrender. Though he was pretty sure he’d one day be found dead under “mysterious” circumstances. But that day would not arrive so soon. They would not risk it. They might have rebelled after King’s death(murder as he knew it) but a 23 year young man does not drop dead of old age it would defeat their objective turn people against the new regime. People might have given up on the King and his regime but some sense of loyalty was still there towards their queen. They didn’t wanted her on the roads or her children dead. No he was scared for the fate decided for his sister. Marriage, with the 52 year old general Macatliff the head of the faction, the leader of the mutiny, the war lord, Ex Army Chief, a former friend of his father,a wife beater, a sorry excuse of Human and Now as Aron would prefer to call him an obvious back staber. He has been famous for his cruelties , his arrogance and his behaviour towards everyone including his own family. It has been rumored that his first wife died in labour birthing her third daughter the second wife died under mysterious circumstances and now his thirst for an heir had motivated him to search for a new wife. Prince Aron knew Matcliffe was a leachorous Rake but he was shocked when Matcliffe asked him to betroth his sister to him as one of the condition to allow the Ex Royal family maintain their status ( or in other words not throw them in the streets to his dogs or as one might say his “followers” who he brought from Fidail after he was removed from the army chief post and exiled). No he would rather prefer his sister to die in his arms, in the peaceful forest, safely than her to be alive married to that monster of a man. But he couldn’t jist let her die. He had to do something, but what could he do, if he leaves the forest they will be surely caught and if he didn’t he’d have to watch his sister die one breath at a time.
