Fractured dreams
Fractured dreams, of a world once free,
Where sunight breaks, and falls on me.
But shadows stretch, where light should land,
And slips like smoke, through trembling hands.
This world is forgotten, this world is hurt.
This world is ruined, and covered in dirt.
I walk through the remains, still nothing feels real.
No touch can comfort. No time can heal.
I think back again, to previous years,
When we weren't sad, and trapped by fears.
Where the trees grew tall, and the leaves would fall,
Where the meadows flourished and the birds would call.
Where the days were full, and the nights were free.
Where beauty shone out, for everyone to see.
I'm brought back to the present, where this isn't true.
Where streets are cracked, and the sky is no longer blue.
The buildings abandoned, and left leaning sadly
The urban wasteland, of a civilization treated badly.
