Prologue
Seo-yeon, at her mother’s behest, was playing quietly in her room. She was waiting for her older brother, Eun-buk, to return because she was bored. When she arrived, she glanced at the digital clock in her room. It was 11:43. Nothing interesting had happened, except that her father had returned. She had waited patiently for two hours when she heard a bang. And another. She thought a dish had broken or a pot had fallen, so she wasn’t particularly concerned. She wanted to go downstairs and help clean up, but she remembered her mother’s words: she wasn’t to leave the room until someone, Mom or Dad, came to get her. She heard the sound of a car screeching away. She climbed onto a small table by the window to see the vehicle. She only saw the black rear of a small limousine. The windows were tinted, so she couldn’t see the driver, whom she assumed was her father. She got down from the table and resumed playing.
After a few minutes, her stomach began to rumble. The girl was slowly getting hungry. “I’ll wait a little longer and then go downstairs,” she thought. I regret (as the author) that no one was there to convince her not to.
Quietly, fearing someone would overhear her, Seo-yeon descended the stairs. The hunger was becoming unbearable. She had waited an hour after hearing the bangs, and she didn’t intend to wait any longer.
The entire house was silent. You must know that, the silence in her house was extremely strange, because the little girl had become accustomed to the maids, servants, and even her and her brother babysitter bustling about everywhere.
The girl entered the kitchen and froze. Her parents lay on the floor, arms and legs spread like wings. Dark red liquid marred the white walls and marble tiles. Her mother’s hair was matted and stained with blood. A surprisingly clean kitchen knife, probably intended as a weapon, lay by her father’s right hand. There were also two shell casings. One thing was certain: Mr. and Mrs. Jung, her parents, were dead.
Hii!
I hope you like this introduction, as this is my first story, which is also a fanfiction, that I've submitted for publication. I apologize in advance for any inaccuracies or errors, because even though I'm a fan of Squid Game, I haven't watched a single minute of the episode. If there are any errors, of course, in the chapters, not the prologue, feel free to let me know.
Yours,
Skyy
PS: I'm only 1/3 of the way through the chapter for the fourth chapter, so if you'd like, I can write down first, second and third right away.
