PRESENT NIGHT
9: 59 PM
MIAMI
Jake stands in a cold dark cell. Confused how he got there, but he knows how hegot there. He went to far and tried to kill his own father. A father who he loved very much, a father who he cared for even though it seemed his dad hated him at times. A father who he tried so had to impress but felt as if he would never.
What made him go that far? He asks himself as he remembers a few hours ago as hepointing a gun to his father’s face In one of his ware houses.
FLASH BACK
8:30 PM
“You’re the reason mom died, you’re the reason I have become what I amtoday!″ Jake yells.“Well, I don’t remember telling you to kill those men, I never told you to try andkill the mother of the woman you say you love. You have gone crazy son and youknow it.” Says Davon (Jake’s father) with a blank face. Jake rubs his face with his left hand while pointing his gun with his other hand. The anger is clearly showingon his face
“Oh really? You forced yourself on what is mine. No one touchers what belongs to me dad, not even you. You went too far! but now that does not matter because you are going to pay for evening think of my...″ Jake was interrupted before he couldfinish.
“You think that’s what happened, that I forced your girlfriend to be with me?″Daven laughers out loud. “Then she lied to you. That’s not what happened.″ Jake stares right in his father eyes
Daven’s a thirty-eight-year-old, light brown, muscular man. He looks younger than his age but he acts his age. His ability to remain calm in the worst times has always surprised people. It surprised his deceased wife June.Both Daven and Junewere sixteen when they had Jake. June was out of her mind worrying on how her family would react to the news while Daven stayed calm the whole time. He found a way to tell his mom that she was going to be a grandmother and that he wasdropping out of school to do business. She was furious yet Daven stayed calm anddid as he said he would.
He married June the same year and she gave birth to Jake.After two years of leaving together and running an advertising agency, Daven found out that Jake had an attachment issue. He would throw terrible tantrums when both his parents left for work. He word hit his head against the wall and passout. He would wake up just crying without stopping. June had to give up work just to be with him yet even while all that was happening Daven was very calm. At timehe would lose his cool, but it quickly came back.
That calmness was the something still driving Jake crazy right now as he moved a little closer to Daven still pointing a gun to his face
“What do you mean she lied? She would never lie!” Jake growls
“You’re really into her, aren’t you? She has never loved you the way you want herto and she never will.” Daven boldly says.
“Shut up, just shut up Dad. You never loved mom, you don’t love me and you willnever have what or who belongs to me.”
“I don’t need what belongs to you because I have more. I gave you your position inthe company, I gave you everything. And about who belongs to you, well, son youcan’t decide that. Only she can.” He says as he steps closer to Jake
“Let me take you back to when this all began and we will see who is telling the truth, hah son.”
