CAUGHT BY THE ALPHA

Summary

I was supposed to die. Instead, I woke up in the territory of a man far more dangerous than the one who tried to break me. Kane König is cold, controlled, and utterly ruthless, an Alpha who turns enemies into weapons. And now he has decided I belong to him. He does not trust me. He does not like me. But he needs me. A killer. A survivor. A problem he cannot afford to let go. The worst part? The past I thought I had escaped is not gone. Ariel Bloodthorn is still out there. Still watching. Still waiting. And whatever twisted bond we share, it is not finished with me. Caught between the man who wants to own me and the one who refuses to let me go, I have only two choices: resist or break. Sierra is a wolf assassin. Blood runs on her hands and secrets run deeper. Trust is a luxury she cannot afford, and survival depends on staying untouchable and alone. Kane König is fire wrapped in control and danger, his gaze cutting through every lie she has ever told. Desire and death collide whenever he is near, and surrendering to him may be impossible.

Chapter 1

SIERRA

The world shattered in a concussive roar.

Not a sound, but a physical force that slammed into my chest and ripped the air from my lungs. The concrete floor bucked, throwing me from the bed. Dust and debris rained down, a gritty cascade in the sudden, ringing silence. A high-pitched whine screamed between my ears, the ghost of the blast.

Before my eyes could cut through the darkness, before my brain could even form a question, my body was already moving.

Training took over. My hand found the cold, familiar weight of the pistol on the nightstand. My bare feet found purchase on the trembling floor. I pressed my back to the nearest wall, the rough concrete a grounding anchor in the chaos.

Report. Assess. Engage.

The acrid stench of cordite and ozone burned my nostrils.

Through the haze, emergency lights flickered, casting the corridor in a strobing, hellish red. Hunched silhouettes moved through the smoke down the hall. They moved too well, too fast. The clean, efficient lines of their tactical gear and rifles were unmistakable. Not friendlies. Not civilians.

A cold certainty coiled in my gut, tight and venomous. It wasn’t paranoia. It was foresight. Every inch of this compound, every protocol, every goddamn soul inside it existed for her. An attack on us was an attack on her.

A shape solidified from the swirling smoke directly in front of me. Ethan. His face was grim, smudged with soot, the scent of the explosion clinging to his gear like a shroud. One of Pearl’s most trusted guards.

What the fuck was he doing in the residential wing?

This was supposed to be the inner sanctum, the safest part of the facility. His presence here meant the breach wasn’t at the gate but in our goddamn living room.

He didn’t speak.

He didn’t have to.

His eyes, wide and stark in the red light, said it all.

We’re fucked.

He shoved a second pistol into my free hand and then vanished back into the chaos, his form swallowed by smoke as he moved toward the fire’s source.

My own mission protocol slammed into place.

Pearl’s assets.

I broke from the wall, sprinting down the corridor, my bare feet slapping against the debris-strewn floor. Her quarters were untouched, an island of calm in the storm. The air held the faint scent of jasmine and ozone, Pearl’s scent. I shoved the laptop, encrypted phone, and hard drives into the go-bag.

Methodical. Precise. No time for hesitation. Bag over my shoulder, I raced to Room 189, the digital heart of the operation. Pearl’s orders were muscle memory: if the compound was compromised, wipe everything. Salt the earth. Leave them with ashes.

But as I stood before the terminal, my fingers hovering over the keyboard, I hesitated. Years of work. Research that could shift the balance of power, save lives.

Justice for people who had never gotten it.

I couldn’t just let it all turn to smoke.

A split-second decision. A lifetime of consequences.

My hand darted into my bag, pulling out my own encrypted drive.

My fingers flew across the keyboard, bypassing security and forcing the transfer.

The progress bar crawled.

Gunfire cracked somewhere above. The building groaned.

Too slow.

I copied only what mattered. The core files. Ariel.

The second it hit completion, I ripped the drive free and slammed the purge command.

The screen went black.

Done.

The screen flickered, lines of code scrolling into oblivion before the monitor went black.

A digital death sentence.

An unforgivable breach of protocol.

No time to second-guess.

I was already moving.

The garage was two levels down. The air was thick with the smell of gasoline and cold concrete. I slid behind the wheel of Pearl’s black Mercedes.

I plugged her phone into the console, my hands slick with sweat.

Her pre-set extraction point.

The coordinates glowed on the screen, a beacon of hope.

I threw the car into gear, tires screeching as I peeled out of the garage and into the night.

The main roads were a sea of flashing red and blue lights. Roadblocks. Checkpoints. They were locking the whole city down.

My pulse hammered against my ribs. I was forced onto the back roads, a longer route that wound through the industrial district.

Every surveillance camera felt like a physical touch, a cold eye tracking my every move.

My hands trembled, my knuckles white on the steering wheel as I searched for an exit, any exit, that wasn’t crawling with cops.

By the time I reached the international airport, the rally point, the trap was already set. They weren’t cops.

Council. Men and women in tailored suits, stationed at every entrance, scanning the crowds with predator’s precision. Their quiet efficiency was more terrifying than any army.

My only hope was Pearl. As a high-ranking Alpha, untouchable. She could get me through this. I scanned the bustling terminal, heart hammering. I just had to find her.

Then I saw her. Near the first-class lounge, calm, composed, negotiating with three suited figures. Not looking for me. Not looking for any of us. My stomach dropped. The private, encrypted channel was silent. Dead.

No check-ins. No updates. Just … nothing.

I was the only one who made it out.

Pearl wasn’t coming. She was cutting her losses.

Sacrificing everyone, me included, to maintain her position and spin her story to the Council.

My throat was constricted. Every exit seemed to melt away. The faces in the crowd blurred, the suited figures multiplying, their eyes everywhere. I could feel them on me, a weight on my skin. I was a loose end.

A hand clamped down on my arm, the grip like iron. Before I could react, a universe of white-hot pain exploded at the base of my skull. The airport terminal tilted, colors smearing into a black vortex.

A hand clamped down on my arm. White-hot pain exploded at the base of my skull. Colors smeared into black.

Ethan in the wrong wing. Perfect timing. Council waiting. Pearl’s impossible calm.

She wasn’t a victim. She was the architect.

Shit.

Hours later, I woke to the sterile beep of a monitor. The weight of my eyelids dragged me back to the world. Grogginess clung to my thoughts, heavy and slow, but clarity was forcing its way through.

Escape shouldn’t be too difficult.

The room was a sterile white box, medical equipment glinting. IV line in my arm. To my right, a young blond doctor fidgeted. Non-threat.

And then there was him.

He stood in the corner, already watching me.

Still. Silent. Controlled.

My pulse spiked. I crushed it instantly.

He pushed off the wall and moved closer, each step deliberate.

Dangerous.

He tilted his head, a slow, deliberate movement. My heart hammered against my ribs, a frantic bird trapped in a cage. Every part of me screamed to move, to find a weapon, a scalpel, the IV pole, anything.

My training had prepared me for wolves like him, the persistent, military-trained bastards who saw everything as a challenge to be conquered. His posture didn’t just suggest it.

It broadcasted his ruthlessness to the entire fucking world.

“I’m Alpha Kane,” he said, stopping just feet from the bed. His voice was a low rumble, vibrating through me. “Three days ago, my patrol found you on my territory. You trespassed on a very private section. Now, state your name, your position, and your pack.”

Not a request. An order carved from steel.

I dropped my gaze to his mouth, then back up. Focus. He was a threat.

His black hair was short on the sides, slightly longer on top. Pale silver-gray eyes, nearly white.

Up close, a jagged scar carved through his brow and down his cheek. Violent, deliberate, like something that tried to break him and failed.

Two possibilities came to mind. One, he knew exactly who I was, knew about the flash drive, and this was a test.

Two, he knew nothing and just wanted me off his land.

His jaw tightened. Silence stretched into a physical weight in the room. What could I even say?

“Name. Position. Pack,” he repeated, voice dropping lower, impatience coiling around violence. “Speak. Now.”

I had to buy time, just enough to escape. Rip out the IV, grab something for the pain, steal a car, survive.

“Sierra Stone,” I rasped. “Citizen. Solaris Pack.”

He went utterly still. The air crackled between us, heavy, electric. His eyes dissected me, picking apart my lie with precision. Solaris Pack. A long shot, but I needed him to bite.

“Solaris Pack?” His voice was velvet dragged across bare skin. “As in, Alpha Pearl’s pack?”

The scent of him hit me then, violence and sex, gunpowder and aged bourbon, sweat and something else my wolf recognized instinctively. I fought to steady my breathing.

My vision sharpened on the geometry of him. Jaw cut hard, eyes black as gunmetal, ink crawling up forearms.

Predator eyes that stripped away every lie I had ever told. Heat spiked sharp and unwelcome.

I shut it down on instinct. My mind, trained to analyze, plan, survive, was useless against this force.

My body reacted first.

The doctor moved, injecting something cold into my IV.

Relief surged, but panic followed immediately as sedation clawed through me. The Alpha’s silhouette blurred. My vision dissolved with him.

One thought burned through the haze. He knew.
