On March 23, 2016, just before the last day of Term 2, the students of Grade 5/B at Al Mostaqbal School
One morning, Mr. Timmy was playing music for the class while the students of Grade 5/B at Al Mostaqbal School were completing unfinished work in their math books During the lesson, Abdulla started to move and dance a little while Mr. Timmy was teaching. Mr. Timmy, who was the English, math, and science teacher, noticed this and warned him, saying, “Abdulla Saeed, if you move and dance, I will send you out of the class.” Abdulla replied, “No,”
After the first break, the students returned to class for the fourth and fifth periods of the day. In Grade 5/B at Al Mostaqbal School Meanwhile, Marties, the lady guard wearing an abaya, was standing near the stairs upstairs, quietly observing the school area as she carried out her duties. It was known that she would be going to the Philippines on 24 March 2016, so this was one of her last days at the school around that time.

During the next periods, either the fifth or sixth period, some students in Grade 5/B at Al Mostaqbal School were continuing their Arabic or Islamic lessons. The classroom was calmer as students focused on reading and writing activities. Meanwhile, a lady guard called Abdulla and told him it was time for him to go home.
