An Apology and a Glowing Review

"I first need to apologize to this author--I thought I had reviewed this! I sincerely apologize for this oversight! Now, on to the good stuff--like this book!!! I really am a sucker for fantasy. The book starts off with amazing imagery and a mystery that is so tantalizing and so refreshing, and an honest to goodness quest! And for him to wake up in a home that is but he can't remember it... wow, that really just tugs at my heartstrings but also makes me want to dive in and read more because I had to know what happened next! There's also so many genres that come into play, and it was neat to see a kind of crossover between them. I love a book that isn't afraid to leave expectations in the dust and take me on a fascinating adventure that leaves me on the edge of my seat. Then there's parts that are nostalgic and give you a false sense of security before yanking you somewhere else and being just a masterpiece of creepiness! During the journey there's such amazing parts along the way, with really well-written, intricate, and complicated characters that leave you guessing and leave your heart pounding, and just make you want more! There are just the right amount of rests for the characters, and then the scenes suddenly explode into excitement and it's such a roller coaster to experience! I highly recommend this book--it's a fascinating and dynamic read, especially if you love fantasy quests! (Which I do!) #ICBC #IC10"

The Mystery Runs Deep

"Distortia is one of those stories that takes you on a rollercoaster ride with no rails. It's dark, gritty, and absolutely impossible to guess where the story and its characters will take you next. Opening into a world of intrigue, you're introduced to the protagonist—the boy, whose name, even this far into what I've read, remains unknown (which I have a feeling I know what it is) 👀 However, just like the rest of the story, many of my theories have yet to unravel quite as I expected. The world itself is irresistibly dark and filled with all kinds of lore, with the story seemingly taking you deeper and deeper into it with every chapter. There's always another layer to uncover, another mystery to question, and another theory that may or may not turn out to be completely wrong. If you're a fan of mysterious, character-driven, heavy-lore stories with more layers to peel back than an onion, then Distortia will keep you engaged and captivated throughout its course."

A mystery that intensifies with each chapter.

"It is evident that the author has crafted a complex world and enjoys doling out information little by little. What begins as a typical journey to uncover the protagonist's lost memories evolves into a complex mystery involving the world itself and the root of the conflict. Each small answer leaves you with more questions, compelling you to pay close attention to hidden details. To some extent, it reminds me of the fragmented storytelling found in Hidetaka Miyazaki’s games. With a silent protagonist, the book relies on its cast of supporting characters. Each one is interesting and a mystery waiting to be unraveled. The author has a knack for shifting our perception of these characters from one chapter to the next, making us empathize with figures who initially gave off bad vibes. If you enjoy dark fantasy, mysteries that persist throughout the story, and forming theories as you read, then this book is for you."
