Chapter 1A Stranger in the Land of Dreams
Mira sat on a cold wooden chair in a corner of the crowded Myeong-dong police station. Burning tears blurred her pale face. In a trembling voice, mixing broken Korean and English, she tried to explain to the stern officer that everything was gone... her passport, her phone, her money. Her entire life was in that cursed bag.
"Please, officer... I have nowhere to go. I’m all alone here!" she whispered, her heart breaking with a fear that gnawed at her soul.
Suddenly, a strange silence fell over the busy station. The whispers of the police stopped, and all eyes turned toward the door. Mira felt an unusual chill sweep through the room. A scent of luxury and depth—a blend of sandalwood and gunpowder—overpowered the smell of paper and stale coffee.
Mira slowly raised her head, her tear-filled eyes searching for the source of this sudden shift...
And there, in the doorway, he stood.
He was tall, with a perfectly built body that spoke of disciplined strength, wearing a tailored black suit that fit his broad shoulders perfectly. His coal-black hair was styled with precision, both modern and classic. His features were sharp and masculine: thick, straight brows that gave him an air of severity, and a long, straight nose that lent him a royal pride.
But most importantly, his eyes. Sharp as a hawk’s, deep and dark, hiding a thousand secrets. His gaze was cold as ice, yet there was a spark of sharp intelligence that made anyone who looked at him feel completely exposed. He radiated an overwhelming masculinity and unmatched elegance, as if the whole world had stopped just for him.
Mira’s gaze froze on him. She forgot her crying, her fear, and her lost bag. She saw nothing but this man, who looked as if he had just stepped off a screen from the most romantic K-drama.
He took a few steps with calculated confidence, the click of his leather shoes on the floor sounding like a clock announcing the start of a new chapter in her life. He looked at her with total coldness, but for a fraction of a second, seeing her fresh tears, his stern features seemed to soften.
He approached her in absolute silence. Then, in a deep, calm, and commanding voice, he said to the officer in Korean:
"I will take care of her."
