Summary

There was a boy who used to glow. Before the silence. Before the distance. Before the nights that stretched too long and the mornings that never felt like beginning again. To his father, he was everything. laughter in the kitchen, music through open doors, a life full of promise that felt unbreakable. But slowly, almost quietly, that light begins to fade. Not all at once. Not in a way you can stop. Just enough to notice... and then too much to ignore. Borrowed Light is a haunting story poem about love that refuses to let go, even when it doesn't know how to hold on. Told through fractured moments and aching truths, it follows a father and son caught in a cycle of hope, loss, and the desperate fight to find each other again. This is not a story about easy answers. It is a story about staying. About breaking. About loving someone through the darkest parts of who they become. And about the fragile, flickering hope that maybe. just maybe some light can still be found.

Prologue: Before the Cracks

There was a boy

before the shadows learned his name

before the mirrors lied

before mornings came with weight

He was laughter in kitchen light,

barefoot across cold floors,

a voice calling

"Dad, look at this, watch me, just watch!"

and the world watched

because he was

that kind of bright

the kind you don't think can burn out

the kind you assume

is permanent.

user-tYYAB62Jw9: I loved your/this story, thank you 😊 . Look forward to more writings. I was so invested in the kids. Curious who or which one is Annie's mate. Maybe Dylan since Collin is a werewolf. Although she'd also make a good Luna. Smiles 🙂
