"I have not as yet, read the prequels to this story but once started, one must finish the tale. An ancient predator, having led lives of questionable existence, finally comes to a fateful meeting not only with his own kind but his own conscience and morals. Having met an enigmatic female, lovely, fragile and serene... Maxx DeSilva suddenly begins to examine his soul. A woman who asks nothing and gives everything is simply not the norm in Maxx's world of kill or be killed, take the power and never give an inch mentality that has taken him to the brink of desolation. He has lost everything. the woman he loved, his family has turned against him, he is feared and hunted by vampires and werewolves alike to the last refuge afforded him. He learns, eventually that all he has believed is a lie. Or at the very least, a way he no longer wishes to live. And then, the inevitable happens. Those that hunt him catch up. Maxx is faced with a decision. the writer takes the reader on a wondrous journey into the dark edges of Maxx's sanity only to bring us into a promising light. One I personally hope, Maxx can figure a way to stay and prosper. Lovely prose from a very, very talented writer. Each paragraph sets a mood. Each description pulls one into the depths of the story. I highly recommend this book. A love story of old with modern connotations. Told by someone who knows what he's doing. A beautiful cadence of a life lived down through the ages....read it. You won't be sorry."
