Prologue

“When darkness rises, only the chosen can stand.”

I would like to tell you a tale about a group of teenagers with extraordinary gifts.

They didn’t know what destiny had in store. All they wanted was to go to college and make a difference in the world.

One by one, they were discovered and brought together, sharing a single purpose: to protect the people they loved and save the town they called home from dark forces.

Enemies would come, but their strong wills and unity promised triumph.

It was early morning.

Dawn stretched across the horizon, painting the sky in pale gold and rose, the light spilling across the still surface of the lake.

Around a flickering campfire, a small group of teens in advanced knight-like armor sat on fallen logs, watching the flames dance and listening to the comforting crackle of firewood.

Smoke curled upward, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth, mingling with the faint chill of morning air.

One knight rose and walked toward the water’s edge, the soft grass brushing against his boots, the reflection of the rising sun rippling across the lake’s surface.

A young man approached from behind, his steps quiet, careful.

“Sol?”

The knight turned. The young man stood quietly, radiating calm. Sol felt a warmth that cut through the tension clinging to his chest.

For a long moment, neither spoke. The gentle lapping of water and the occasional pop from the fire were the only sounds between them.

Sol could feel the unspoken understanding in the way the young man’s gaze met his—a silent promise that, no matter what came, they would face it together.

“You know…” Sol began softly, eyes tracing the horizon where pink and gold clouds floated above the water

“...not long ago, I was just a normal teenager, trying to figure out what I was meant to do. And now… I might be standing on the edge of my fate.”

The young man gave a faint, reassuring smile.

“And what are you feeling, right now?”

“You know what’s the worst part?” Sol whispered, voice heavy with memory.

“And what’s that?” the young man asked, leaning close, the warmth from his body cutting through the morning chill.

“That I finally have you,” Sol admitted, voice trembling with the weight of all the near-misses and lonely nights.

“And it might not be enough. That no matter how much I love you, the world… the world could take this moment away from me.”

The young man pressed his forehead to Sol’s.

“I’m here. Whatever comes, we face it together. You’re not alone in this.”

Sol exhaled slowly, letting the words sink in. The faint smell of wet grass and firewood seemed to ground him.

“Do you ever think about what we were before all of this? Ordinary teenagers… dreams so small compared to what we’re being asked to do?”

“I do,” the young man murmured.

“But even then, I always felt something bigger calling us. Something we had to be ready for. And now, standing here with you, it feels… inevitable.”

A soft breeze stirred the surface of the lake, sending tiny ripples across the reflection of the sky. The fire popped in response, and for a fleeting moment, the world seemed to hold its breath.

The previous night had been grueling. Every hour, they had defended their town from dark forces emerging from the remote island in the middle of the lake.

They had a plan—but would it succeed?

“This may be our last quiet moment,” the young man said softly.

“But I want to remember it. You and me, here. Before everything changes.”

Sol rested his head against the young man’s chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart, the warmth seeping into him.

“Promise me,” he whispered.

“that no matter what happens, we won’t forget this. That we won’t forget each other.”

“I promise,” the young man replied, voice low and certain.

“No matter the storm, I’ll be here.”

They watched the sun climb higher, its light gilding the edges of the clouds and glinting on the lake like molten gold.

Soon, the calm would end.

The young knights had come far since discovering who they were meant to be. Destiny awaited—the greatest challenge of their lives was nearly upon them.

Their path was to become the Knights of Eternal.

●○●☆●○●

What is an Eternal Knight? Where do they come from?

The answer is the multiverse.

The multiverse encompasses all possible universes, including the one humans inhabit. It is the totality of space and time, all that exists. Within it, multiple distinct universes exist, known as parallel or alternate worlds.

○●○☆○●○

Long ago, when darkness roamed the multiverse, hope was absent. Until a rip appeared between the universes—and that was when the Eternal was born.

The Eternal is a celestial entity that chooses only those with the strongest wills, a will powerful enough to light the multiverse and defeat the darkness.

From that moment, the Knights of Eternal were born. Sworn to protect the multiverse from evil, they became more than heroes—they became hope incarnate.

But this is not where the story begins.

This story begins in a dream.
