Chapter 1: Feeding grounds
I lick my lips, tasting the bitter sweet liquid on my lips. Reaching up, I pop one of my stained fingers into my mouth. I’m not too worried about being quick. No matter how slow I am to clean up, I’m never worried about being caught.
It’s dark out, no one is here but me. The streets are empty of all cars and people. Anyone who may be out at this time is either just like me, or already dead.
“Well look who it is.” A voice speaks out from the darkness of the alleyway I’m tucked away in. I lift my head up, my hand suspended in front of my mouth. I cock my head to the darkness, recognizing that soft and crisp voice anywhere.
“Hello Sophie.” I reply formally. My tongue darts out to lick a drop of blood that rolls down the palm of my hand.
“No need to be so formal darling, you know me.” Sophie replies with a soft, innocent smile as she emerges from the inky black darkness. I know that smile and it isn’t fooling me one bit. I know Sophie, of course, and she is far from sane. But god is she good at acting.
Her blond hair falls down around her face, resting on her shoulders, her dark eyes stare into me with an unusual sharpness.
“Feeding again?” She asks, cocking her head, a wide grin spreading across her face. I continue cleaning my hand with my tongue, ignoring her teasing question. It’s very obvious what I’m doing, she knows I always wait till the last possible second before I have to eat again.
“You know me Sophie. I don’t eat as much as you do.” I reply flatly. I’ve never been very good at talking with people, even if I’ve known them most of my life, like Sophie and I. It’s just not something that seems to come naturally to me.
“Of course, of course.” She replies, stepping closer to me, stepping over the half mangled body on the ground. “So,” she began again, “are you going to finish that?” She asks with a hint of hope in her voice.
“Go ahead.” I say with a sigh and a roll of my eyes. She grins widely, turning towards the mess of flesh on the ground. Her teeth sharpen into long points, her nails crack and extend into long claws. Her ribs push on her skin, splitting it and spilling bright red blood down her sides, soaking into her shirt. Her knees bend with her feet snapping into something similar to a wolf’s. It’s simple and small, not her full form. But it’s still enough for her to drop down and tear into the mess, lapping up the spilled blood with a long black tongue.
I finish cleaning off my hands with my own tongue, swirling it around my ring finger as I watch Sophie feed.
She has always been a messy eater. But then again she is also the one to clean up after everyone else. She’s like a raven; a vulture.
When she’s got most of it cleaned up, she straightens up, her back cracking. She morphs back into the girl with the silky smooth blond hair. The pitch darkness receding from her eyes as she turns back to me. A quick flick of her tongue around her lips and she looks like a totally normal human.
I turn my gaze away from her, back down the dark alleyway, listening for any sound of approaching beings. There’s nothing. I turn back to my girl. She steps beside me, looking up at the clear yet dark sky. No sign of any stars or the shine of the moon. Nothing. It almost brings me peace. Almost.
“Heard the news?” She asks after a beat of silence. I cock my head, unaware. She turns to me, stares for a moment before grinning. “You’ll hear about it soon.” I scowl as she turns away, heading back into the alleyway. She always does this and it pisses me off.
I watch her retreat back into the darkness, seeing her long claws extend and her dark figure dart up the side of the brick wall.
Once out of sight, only then do I turn back to the sky. I close my eyes and listen for the sounds of the small creatures around me. I hear the wind, the darkness. I hear the life and death. I taste it in my mouth, my tongue running through it, seeking the familiar taste. I feel alive. And all at the same time, intrigued, curious almost. Because tomorrow is the day I find out what Sophie has been so cryptic about the past few days.
I can’t wait.

New story!! I'm just posting the first chapter for now to see if you all like it and want me to continue it. (I probably will but I just want to see if it should be my priority since I am having some writers block.)
With that being said, this will have smut and it kind of yandere stalker vibes, (this was not intended in the original writing plan but while writing it kind of went off the rails lol!!)And of course, if you have any tips for me please, I would love to hear them!!
