SUMMARY
Charly’s wild life journey in the 90’s began on the rough streets of Tijuana, Mexico. Born into poverty with a 98% chance of staying there, as a teenager influenced by the American culture, he joined a gang, where he encountered violence, guns, drugs, and jail. Trying to change the script, he pursued the American dream, but when he couldn’t find it the honest way, the criminal life found him.
Landing in maximum-security prison for the first time, Charly learned the ropes of the criminal underworld from master criminals—he was in the big leagues now. When he got out of this “University of Crime” armed with knowledge, connections, and experience, he finally found his American dream through a life of crime.
After years of criminal activity, life had other plans for him. Charly found himself back in prison, but this time, destiny intervened, Charly learned Jiu-Jitsu in prison and started to read a little red book that changed his mind set and his life 180°. With newfound wisdom, he left his criminal past behind, becoming an entrepreneur and eventually a successful businessman. Despite the gravity of his tale, Charly’s laconic humor and the unique characters in this book cut through the darkness, offering moments of levity even in the harshest of circumstances.
This is a true story that proves that even from the most unlikely beginnings, a remarkable transformation is possible.
