Summary

The Thief stole the heart of a god. Now she’s shackled to the soul of a monster. Lira is the best thief in Veyrith, but her latest heist went sideways in the worst way possible. The Kaelithar—a sentient, warring crystal—has fused to her skin, and it has a very specific demand: she must stay within ten paces of the exiled Prince Vael, or they both die. Vael is cold, lethal, and represents everything Lira hates. But through a soul-bond that bleeds their thoughts and desires into one another, hate is becoming dangerously hard to maintain. As they flee through the Umbrath—a realm of inverted gravity and living nightmares—they must decide what’s worse: the enemies hunting them, or the fact that they’re starting to enjoy the chains that bind them. Perfect for any reader who believes the "Enemies to Lovers" trope should involve at least one attempted assassination.

Prologue

Long ago, when the twin moons of Krynneth still danced apart, the silver moon Lyrith and the obsidian moon Vaelor fell into forbidden love. Lyrith, wild and sarcastic goddess of thieves, stole Vaelor’s sacred heart-crystal to prove no bond could ever hold her. Enraged, Vaelor hunted her across the endless sky for centuries. Their last embrace shattered the Veil between light and shadow. In that moment of fury and desire, their essences fused into a single screaming crystal, the Kaelithar.

The shard fell to Krynneth, carrying both gods’ warring natures: Lyrith’s chaotic wit and Vaelor’s cold pride.

It became the living scar of their broken love. Forever seeking two resonant souls to finish what the moon gods could not.

To force them together.

To make them burn.

To see if love or hate would win.

And so the first soul-bond was born… waiting for the next thief foolish enough to steal it.

Hester: Very good, was short too the point , not lingering on the abuse, pity you didn’t let him step in earlier knowing the abuse was happening, but this is almost real for some women who have gone through it, just wish they could all have a princess at te end of thete tunnel

Ashley: I enjoyed the story. It was a short one so the fast pace fit. I think something should be put in to show a time jump between paragraphs like a "****" just to make it easier to follow when we skip to the next day week or month. Over all a good read.
