"I loved almost every part of this book. Almost because 1, I didn't get to physically fight some of the characters. I also don't like that the author wrote put in so much (necessary) effort into the (inevitable) development of a specific hated character because the realistic growth made it hard for me to hold onto the very strong feelings I had from Book 1. That aside, I'm glad this book ended the way it did, and I'm raising several glasses to the author. Truly phenomenal work! 💐💐💐"
A Full-course Meal!
"First of all, I am deeply unwell about this story coming to an end. Emotionally speaking, I am standing in the rain outside the house begging for Book 3😭 Here are my two cents. This story gives you everything. Realism, politics, sports romance, film, law, social structures, love, hatred, forgiveness, trauma, childhood wounds, healing, scandal, family, ambition, and consequences. The world is built with such care that you can feel the rules holding it together. The politics are tight. The relationships are layered. The emotional arcs actually earn their weight. I will say this over and over again: this book is a full-course meal. It does not feel like a story that was thrown together around romance alone. There is thought in every layer, from the metaphors and motifs to the parallels, the callbacks, the hints, the continuity, and the slow evolution of the characters. Every major character feels considered. Every change feels earned. Even the characters who remain stagnant feel intentionally written that way, because some people in life remain exactly as ineffective, cruel, or trapped as they began. That also feels honest. I have grown so attached to these characters. From Book 1 to Book 2, it has truly felt like a journey. I waited for the chapters every day. I cared about where they were going, what they would survive, what they would ruin, what they would learn, and who they would become. Watching them evolve has been one of the most satisfying parts of the story. This book is rich, emotional, frustrating in the best wayyyyy, intelligent, romantic, painful, and beautifully constructed. A full-course meal, truly. Thank you to the author for creating a world that felt alive enough to miss before it was even over. I sincerely hope we get Book 3, because I am absolutely not ready to let this universe go😭😭"
