Chapter 1
It is a cold night on the 14th February of 2025,Friday. Under the streetlight a young handsome man and beautiful woman standing facing each other. It is around 11:30 so everyone's already asleep.
The young man smiles sweetly facing the lady before him facing him.Then,he puts his hand inside the coat's pocketand smiles at her sweetly. And when he's about to say out loud what he had been planning to say the lady speaks out before him and ask "why are you asking me out?" He smiles again and trying to take out his hands from his pocket and says "Nem,i....." But before he even finish what he wants to say she again speak out before him.
"Be quick I'm in a hurry" without looking at him. James shook his head and says "you know i love you and I've been planning to..." But she says "you love me? James don't say that you love me,what you do hurt me the most" without looking at him with tears in her eyes and shaking voice.
James a little shock as it's not like how he had hope. Then he asked "what do you mean?i..i.." then Nenem looks at him and says "what you'd done hurts me,why are you always doing things the way you like,am I really your girlfriend,why are you always doing things the way you like,if I'm important to you,you should asked me my opinion. I am not your toy" trying to contain herself as much as possible.
"What do you mean,you know i truly love you" look confused at the same time trying to work out what's going on. Nenem now look at him and says "you've been hiding things from me,I'm sorry James,we are not for each other,let's breakup" with teary eyes but confidently.
James shocked,"please tell me,i can fix it" but Nenem looks at him and says "James.....im sorry" With tears in his eyes and shaking voice he asked "what makes you so angry,please tell me,i don't want to breakup with you" he begged. Nenem with a little harsh tone "am I the only lady who you can live,there are so many ladies that fit your standard,you're too good for me" and tries to leave.
James quickly react "Nem,please" begs her again.
When he acts like this it is hard for Nenem too to forced this breakup but she have to do it so she shakes off his hand from her hand and says "we're over,please you can go back to your home" and leaves him.
He runs and catch up to her and says "i know you love me too,what makes you said that,you know that I'm going to propose to you right,you're not ready yet so you act like this right,i can wait Nem" looking at her eyes directly. Nenem is guilty too to forced this but she already made up her mind.
"You wished to be with me right, i wish to be with you too,I can wait,Nem,please let's not breakup" he continues. She says "yeah I wished to be with you,but that's already in the past,now i wish for another one" she says. "You wait years fir your wish to fulfill when it's coming to you,you shake it off" he asked.
"No,James that's where you're wrong,wish were just a wish,some are lucky and their wish are fulfilled but there are some unlucky people,wish doesn't fly to us James,wish don't have a wings. If wish have a wings I will not in this state anymore,let's not bother each other. I wish you happiness" and plans to walks home. "Why are you doing this to me,tell me your reason?" He asked. "You want to know so much,okay I'll tell you,yeah I know you're going to propose to me so I act like this,i don't love you James,I'm just playing with you,i love my own cultured man,I'm just playing with you,i want to how much can I fool a foreign man,i don't want to be family with a foreigner" she says out loud and clear. James laughs at her and says "you're lying" and asked her for a reason.
"That's my true reason" she says but James doesn't buy it.
Though he doesn't buy it she didn't plan to tell him. As she plans to go he kneels down and begs her,she says "don't you have any dignity left,don't be like this,as she goes without looking back.
He's on his knees begging her as she leaves but she doesn't turn back,with tears in his eyes overflows. Hello says in his mind "does dignity matter when I'm about to lose the most important person in my life,not to mention dignity I'm willing to do anything to turn back things but you won't let me."
His happiest night to be becomes the saddest night. His hopeful smiles turns into a sorrowful tears where no hope left.
After staying like that for quite a long time he went back to the guesthouse. He can't sleep looking out of the window. He takes out the ring from his pocket and puts near the window,staring at the ring where his happiness lies within before he meet her. It seems like it's comforting him under the light it's glowing beautifully.
Night passed and day breaks,he didn't have the energy to do anything. He just lie down just keep thinking about their beautiful past.
Nenem too,not in the mood and energy to go to school,so she lies down on her bed and take out the old letters. She even look at the ring he gave to her as a kind of engagement ring. Just all these are enough to make her into tears. She shuts herself in her room and didn't even answer or open when her families tries to look out for her.
Days passed like this,James too thinks that time will heal but as time goes by the harder it gets,even a single day without her is a torture. Before with her around him it feels like time goes by so fast but without her even a single day is like a month.
He still stays hoping they could reconcile but even after a whole month they can't seem to reconcile so he plan to go back to the states.
With his friend Joshua(Mawite's eldest son),he goes to the town to schedule to go back to their states.
Nenem can't seem to recover either,she still shut herself but she goes out for breakfast and dinner. Even her parents were worried about her. They think they've gone to far but she's an adult they believe she can handle it. Rosy come by to their house during the day. She went there to comfort her bestfriend. She's now pregnant for her first child. Nenem tries to look freshen up as much as possible. They talked for a very longtime "(paite)kha bangzah hita e(how many months is it now)" Nenem asked "(paite)kha 5 khong ka hi pan,a puak baih deuhte ka hidi(it's only 5 five month,maybe it's visible early for mine)" Rosy answered.
"(Paite) Bang na chi a na hoih deuhta hia leh(how about you,you're okay now?)" she asked. Nenem answers with a force smile "(paite)hmmm,hoih lua bangmah a hihlouh pi(yes I'm fine,this is nothing)" but Rosy notice her fake forced smile. "Nang khen a hih chia thuak lah lua a om di hilou,thuak lah di chi a khentu a le pang sese louh di,hun hong kivei leh awl a hong dik di aka hia,hilele hiai dan a na omleh le a thuak lah lua a kilat di hilou(it's you who breakup with him so don't act like that,if you're gonna be like that don't breakup with him,time will comes and goes and it will be alright but if you already did this don't act like you are having a mental breakdown)" .
Nenem tries to change the topic and asked "nou la bang na chizel uh,nang le haksa lou hia(how about you guys,especially you)" though Rosy know that she tries to change the topic she answer her honestly that they were fine and she's been great too.
At 3:30 pm Rosy went back home,Nenem too seem a little bit fresher than before after she talked with her friend.
Days passed and the day James to leave this village and went back to his states arrives. He had already been there for more than a year so he makes some friends and his friends comes to bid him farewell,he expect someone else but she didn't come. Even her brother comes,he was his first friend here in this village.
They may brokeup but it's between them,they are not enemies so it's not a bother to her families if they bid him farewell.
He went in and drives off from that small village. From the far away distance Nenem bid him goodbye.
When Siamlian(Nenem's brother) comes back home he tell everyone in his family especially his sister and asked her why she didn't come to bid him farewell. To him,even if they breakup do they have to be enemies,though he understand the hardness of breakup he still suggest she should come but it already passed by can't be recalled.
The next day James already in the cabin/seat in airplane. He listens to music closed his eyes and Nenem to inside the office(staffs office in school).
With tears overflows from his eyes,flows down on his cheeks he says in his mind for the last time "goodbye,my love,the most important person in my life" and the plane took off. Nenem too,thinking that he's probably take off now and bid her last goodbyes "goodbye,my love" both thinking that though they both continues living each of their life they might not meet again in their lifetime so it's their last goodbyes.
Now,they've broken up and he doesn't have a reason to go there anymore and for her there's not a reason to go there,separated by big boundaries they bid their last goodbyes with tears probably for the last time.
