Study 1

I am a sinner, Lord. But I came here in desperation. May Your Spirit guide me. Help me find the greatest love for my darkest parts.

- Yssa (April 7 2026)

At that point some of the people of Jerusalem began to ask, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill? 26 Here he is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying a word to him. Have the authorities really concluded that he is the Messiah? 27 But we know where this man is from; when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.”

John 7:25-27

While Jesus was teaching, some of the people questioned his identity. They were confused of why he was still not being arrested given the fact that the authorities were trying to kill him. They also claimed that if this was the Messiah, then why did they know where He came from? They hold onto their belief that the Messiah will come suddenly.

Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, “Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me.”

John 7:28-29

However, He answered them with the identity He knew. He answered by stating the One who sent Him because that determines who He is. These people are confused because they do not know who sent Him. But Jesus knew---because He has a relationship with the Father.

Reflection:

There are people that will be confused of our identity and calling. They will doubt what we can do and who we are. But just because we do not match someone’s expectations or beliefs we cannot hang onto what they said.

What they see was just Jesus teaching the people, but what Jesus saw was His calling and He who sent Him.

You don’t have to be confused of who you are, regardless of the people’s doubts and beliefs of you.

Look at the One who sent you.

Hold onto your relationship with the Father.

Pursue your calling.

Because like Jesus said “He who sent me is true.”

Remember whom you serve to remember who you are.
