Chapter 1: The Alpha Breaker

The online Omega community was in an uproar. Just the night before, one of the most popular Omega's account, had just posted her acceptance into the Royal Lycan Academy.
And her hundreds of thousands of followers had shaken the ground with their excitement. So much so, that within a span of 24 hours, majority of the trending searches went something like this:
Aesera Mordryn to begin her journey in the Royal Lycan Academy. Is she contending for the post of Assistant Royal Advisor?
The Mordryn heir, considered to be one of the most influential omegas of her generation has been accepted into the Royal Lycan Academy. Is this the start of the Mordryn's Political pursuit?
Aesera Mordryn's supporters cheer as she shares her acceptance letter for the Royal Lycan Academy.
Ember Mordryn confirms Daughter's admission to The Royal Lycan Academy in new post.
The comments under each post hit a million within hours of being posted, with several subthreads and multiple smaller posts following soon after.
The news had taken the Omega community by storm. And the one being hailed as the future Royal Advisor, was currently fast asleep in her bed. Her phone on DND mode.
It was only when the butler came knocking at her door that she stirred and peeked out from under her eye mask.
"Yes?"
Her voice was groggy as she stretched and arched her back before finally sitting up.
"The Madame's calling you to the dining room."
She yawned and pulled off her eye mask.
"Okay. Be there in five."
The butler muttered his consent before walking away and she staggered her way to the washroom to freshen up.
"Sera, did you see the posts?"
Her mother practically vibrated in her seat. Her loose bun let a few strands of pitch black hair free as she stood. Her smile so blindingly beautiful that Aesera blinked and shot a confused look to her father. Only to recieve a thumbs up in return.
She frowned.
Her mother was basically her biggest supporter. And as one of the founding members of the Omega community, every single one of Aesera's achievements was shared and praised from the sky up.
"What posts?"
Her query didn't dim her mother's smile, as Ember quickly pulled out the seat beside herself and placed her phone in Aesera's hands.
Her thumb froze mid-scrolling as she read the numerous headlines mentioning her admission. Some admonishing her sudden desire to intervene in politics while others speculated which position exactly she was aiming for on the council.
One thing became clear from every title she read.
Not a single person doubted her ability to secure a spot on the council.
Which spot though? Was still unknown.
Watching her expression shift into a familiar smug smile, Kael Mordryn rolled his eyes at his daughter's expression.
"Eat your breakfast first. I'm sure the rest will be visiting us soon."
He was proven correct.
As soon after their breakfast finished, two cars, One black and the other cotton candy colored, pulled into the driveway of their mansion.
"Sera Darling, Congratulations!"
Luna Wolfram charged in first. Her arms supporting a massive custom-made gift basket. One that smelled like everything Aesera loved.
On her tail were her husband and twins. Zavier beamed at his phone as he swiped through the several hilarious thirsting comments under each post, while Nina bypassed her mother to throw her arms around Aesera's shoulders.
At 5'3, she fell a good 4 inches short of Aesera's 5'7, but the latter bent her knees to accept the hug as always. Luna was quick to get a hold of her right after Nina.
"Always believed in you kiddo."
As Luna peppered kisses on the resistant Aesera's face, Markus Wolfram patted her head, momentarily stilling it enough for Luna's lipstick to succesfully leave two massive prints on her cheek.
Hearing her groan, the couple shared a smirk before moving on to congratulate her parents.
"My baby!"
Rexi Bisborne's exclamation sounded as she stepped in, her son and husband struggling to balance the trunk-load of gifts they had brought along.
"Hey Aunty."
Finding her right cheek already marked, Rexi littered her left with three kiss marks before rushing towards her sister, Ember, and Luna.
Moving forward, Aesera and Zavier helped Ingolf Brisborne with the tens of gifts his wife had purchased. The poor man only managing to pat her head after her hands filled up.
"What's in this? An anvil?"
Hearing Zavier- an Alpha- struggle in the back, the state of her cousin Elias, made more sense. Despite the two being Alpha's, one needed Ingolf's support to get the gift into the living room while the other sat panting by the trunk right after unloading it.
"Why'd you bring so much?"
"Why'd you demand so much?"
Elias snarked between breaths and stood up slowly.
"I didn't demand shit."
He froze and eyed the half buried face peeking out from behind the mountain of the ten smaller gifts his parents had picked.
"You don't remember your text from last night?"
"What text?"
She had been exhausted after celebrating the letter's arrival yesterday. In the short span of 15 minutes, the staff had pulled a custom three-tier cake out along with confetti canons, while the bodyguards had started the sterio system.
In short, her night had dragged into the early hours of the next day. And before sleeping she had texted the group and posted a slightly blurred picture of the acceptance letter to her Stargram account with no captions.
"We asked you what we should bring and you said everything."
Oh.
That was her typical response when asked what she wanted. But this had to be the first time her Aunt had showed up with her trunk practically spilling with gifts of all sizes.
"I sat next to a pile on the way over."
Elias could make out from her expression that she had texted half-asleep or without much care. As usual. But the repurcussions had to be borne by him and his dad.
"Don't be jealous."
She smirked and dodged the confetti canon he threw at her head and rushed inside to find the table prepared for a second celebration.
The picture was the exact same as the previous year, when her second patent had gone through and she had rightfully begun mass production of her Pheromone Inhibitor.
It took a while for things to calm down, but once they did. The serious chatter began.
"You're aiming for the Assistant Advisor's post right?"
Aesera nodded to Markus, prompting the man to pull out his phone.
"I looked into the current candidates. And these two stand out the most."
She looked at the two profiles he had forwarded her and resisted sneering at the mark on the top right of the paper. Both Alphas. Ofcourse.
"Ash Silverbane has the Professors recommendation and a good profile but majority of his work is heavily dependent on prior research. He's isn't very innovative so he's considered for the post more loosely than the first contender."
The table quietened at their discussion. Till Kael spoke up.
"I heard of a scandal relating to the Silverbane's in the past year, he hasn't been knocked off the list yet?"
Undeniably the Royal Advisors post was coveted by many, however, the only way to climb to it was by first qualifying as one of the two Assistant Royal Advisors.
And the requirements were no joke.
Ranging from a practically spotless background to an innovative streak and strong media presence all the way to the annual earnings, political stances and inter-species relations.
In order to qualify, all boxes had to be checked. And since that was practically impossible, the council usually settled for a minimum of 7 out of 10 boxes checked.
But if what her father had said was true, then Ash Silverbane fell one short of the minimum and hence would eventually be eliminated altogether.
That only left one other competitor.
"Raoul Fenrir is the main one standing in your way."
23. He had two years on her and had been in the academy longer.
As she scrolled his profile she couldn't help but agree. He checked all ten boxes.
In all honesty, she herself only checked 9. Her background wasn't entirely spotless, which was reflected in her well-known monicker.
Zavier scoffed. Drawing the attention of the entire table. His green eyes lighting up as he basked in the attention and ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair.
Everyone at the table rolled their eyes. Their four kids were definite narcissists.
But they weren't the worst of the bunch.
"She'll tackle them both just fine. Are you forgetting her nickname?"
The one given to her by the media after the first and last scandal of her life when she was 17, an entirety of four years ago. And the only thing standing in her way of ticking all ten boxes.
Elias chuckled and slapped her shoulder.
"You'll do just fine. Miss Alpha Breaker."
Hi!
This novel is set in another world hence quite a few things are going to be different. Think of us humans as extinct.
It is a technologically advanced world so Social media is ever present however the names of popular apps will be different.
For example: Stargram.
😂 you can probably guess where that's driven from.
Anyways, as you can probably tell by now, our MC is well-off and pretty capable, hence her competition has to be of the same standard right?
You won't be disappointed. 😊😉
