Chapter 1 THE BUNKER
THE rain fell quietly over the streets of THUNDER
BAY officer Steve Williams sat inside his patrol car the
faint glow of streetlights reflecting on the wet road. It
was supposed to be another routine night shift.Steve
stopped his car and parked it on the side of road. Being
tired he took a few sip of coffee that he had with him
and lied on his car seat.At that time he slowly fell into
sleep.The rain poured down heavily .Now the rain has
become so intense that it was hard to see the road
even with headlights turned on .Suddenly Steve wakes
up hearing the loud ringing of his mobile resting on the
car dashboard.He quickly woke up and checked his
phone.It was his superior Kenedy Robhood. when he
picked up the call; Kenedy said,
”hey Steve you have a quick assignment to do.This time
it is not a normal patrol .I want you to head towards
the thunder bay drug research center a suicide case has
been reported there.I have already sent David and
Robert there.I want you to watch over things and
superwise them”.
At that time Steve was in half dream and he gets out
from his car washes his face in the nearby river and
prepares to go and check what’s happening there.On
the way he calls Madson his collegue and best friendand asked details about incident so he can understand
the situation Madson picks up the call within one or
two rings and said ” what happened Steve how can I
help you “
Steve replied,
“Madson I want your help with something,you see the
thing is Kenedy called me now and told me to go and
superwise a suicide case at the drug research center.So
do you have any ideas about what is going on and why
he choosed me while you are there.”Madson replays,
“yeah the thing you heard is right Steve. I take it
troubles finds you rather than you finding them.And
that Kenedy wants to put you into more trouble.You
know that David is the human form of stupidity.so if
Kenedy sent you wih him means he don’t want you to
solve it or confirm it.The trouble was chosen for me I
think.But since me and that dump is not in good terms
so,Kenedy changed his mindand chose you.Man you
don’t have to do anything more than just writing it off
as a suicidal case so good luck buddy”and Madson
smirks by saying this.At that time ; Steve said,
“yeah smirk and laugh all you want Madson,oh god
now I have to tolerate him please lend me the patience
for it”.
Madson laughs and replied,
“Don’t worry Steve everything is going to be
alright.okay”.
Steve said,
“I hope so anyway I am nearly there,I will call you
after all this mess is over” when steve reached there
David and Robert where questioning a doctor and
David quickly came when he saw Steve and paid
respect then Steve and David walks towards the
incident area.And when Steve saw the dead body and
took a close look he saw a precise cut on his neck.
Steve said ,
“hey David don’t you think something’s off.something
inside my mind says that this isn’t a normal suicide.if a
person try to commit suicide he won’t think of making
a precise cut enough to drain his blood and on
neck.Unless someone else did came here and was
waiting to kill him “.
At that time David interrupted,
”sir how you can say it for sure maybe being a doctor
he might have checked all of these”
Steve looked at David and said,
”David I know you are here to make it a suicide
somehow.But this is a murder with no evidence”.
Later Steve checks the crime file and came to know
that the person who is dead is Edward a well known
drug researcher when he went through the file he also
understood that a few hours before there was a
meeting of researchers where conducted there and
Edward was also a part in that meeting so he suddenly
said David to contact the researchers who where with
him and gather intel from them. David suddenly finds
the meeting report and calls Dr.Ron who was a senior
researcher thinking that he might know something
about the incident. soon Dr.Ron reaches there and
when David asked him about the incident he started
explaining what happened. all these events occurs in
the presence of Steve .
A few hours ago at the research facility
famous doctors from all over Canada reached there to
attend a meeting. It was not a normal meeting. It was
lead by Edward a well known drug researcher. soon the
program began in a setup where Edward stand infront
of a projector screen and others sitting in chairs facing
the screen.He was presenting his new drug invension.
Edward started his presentation,
”ladies and gentle man I am here to present and
introduce my newly invented drug which can bring a
big change in the investigation field.The name of the
drug is ‘UNDEAD’ this is a drug that can bring back a
dead person not completely but can reactivate that
person’s brain for a few days.so that the dead himself
can tell what had happened to him. so I want all of your
permission to test this drug.I spent 10 years in
reasearching this drug.so I think my hardwork won’t be
in vain”.
At that time he expected everyone to appreciate. But
the exact opposite happened.
His senior Dr. Ron suddenly stood up from his chair and
said,
”what the hell are you talking about!!!...have you gone
mad.First thing it is not possible to bring dead back to
life.The second thing is to investigate these cases there
are already people who have qualification. Are
planning to make them worthless. And what if this
doesn’t work on every cases… then what are you going
to do..Anyway, I am outa here”.
Dr. Ron came out from the meeting room and left there
in anger .so others started getting out by scolding and
bad wording him.
”after that I don’t know what happened”. said
Dr. Ron with a long sigh.and he added,
“ I don’t think Edward would do such thing .soon after
it he called me and informed that he destroyed the
files and samples of the drug “.
But I felt his sound strange. and suddenly hung
up the call.“that’s all I know “.Dr.Ron said. At
that time David after hearing said,
“yeah people would change Dr, may be he might have
thought that there is no need for him to live anymore,
so he ended his life”.
”David that’s enough I know that you are well talented
in making things up that’s why you still don’t get
promotion. So Dr you said that Edward won’t do such a
thing how are you this much confident about him?”,
asked Steve. Then Ron said,
”he have sufered a lot of faliures in research and spent
more years on other research. if he had such thought
he might have ended his life long before”.
then Steve said,
“oh then that explains that his death isn’t
suicide.thank you Dr for your cooperation.Now you can go back to Calgary have a safe journey doc”. Dr
thanked Steve and left .
Steve and other two left the place when the
procedures where finished in the end with no evidece
they were forced to write it as a suicide.on the way
back they were traveling together.
David asked,
“But….sir why did you agreed to call it a suicide when
you where sure that it was a murder instead?”. Steve
turned his eyes from the window and said,
”look David I know it is murder but we can’t prove it
by blaberring stupid made up stories .we need the
damn evidence”. David replied,
”oh that’s why you chose to call it a suicide right “.
Steve said,
”yes now focus on the road and drive”.
Soon after they left five people emerged from the
backyard of that center and their leader a 6 feet tall
man showed them signal to move. all of them were
wearing black rain coat which is soaked in blood.As rain
fell down the blood slowly rinsed off from there coats.
There on the hands of there leader we can see a project file which is the same project undead along
with a sample of it. they ran off into the deep forest
and reached a creepy old bunker. there they hands
over the file and one of them said,
”boss here is the file and drug sample you asked for”.
that person takes that file in hand.In that low light his
face became visible. He started to laugh loudly like a
dream of his came to life.
Two months have passed now days in Steve’s life
went well. but not soon before various missing cases
started to get reported. and the people who went
missing there corpses now started to show up various
places in Canada.And the thing is all of the bodies
where half decayed even though they went missing just
the day before.just as usual Steve reaches to his office
on time and the news in the tv which is in his office was
conveying more and more misteries related to it .
“now dead bodies started popping up in various places
in canada what might be the reason behind it .Is it any
hint towards something big …..”. Steve told David
sarcastically,
”David I think you got a good competitor in news no
even more blabering than you are .i don’t know why
wierdos like you pop up you know it is really a pain”.
David replied,
”hmm. !!defeat me huh, sir still I am standing here and
can make scary conclusion more than that guy do you
want to hear it sir..?”.
Steve said ,
“one is enough you know people are loosing there
damn life there. so atleast this time be truthful to
yourself ”. David said”sorry sir my bad I will try my
best “. at that time Robert rushes in Steve’s office,
”sir..!!sir!!!“.
he was gasping longly like something bad happened he
said,
”sir it’s Madson he went missing now. I warned him
not to jump into that bunker case but he did.now he
is not responding to our calls and all connection to
him has been lost hours ago.” Steve stood up from his
chair astonished and said,
”what the hell are you talking about Robert!!..why
didn’t you informed me when you lost contact huh!!...”.
Robert repllied,
”sorry sir it was my fault plus our superior sir Kenedy
told me not to tell you this now”. Steve noded and
continued,
”do you know the exact location Robert and explain me
what happened when I was away..”.
Robert tries to recall what happened and started
saying,
”sir it was about 7.00pm Madson just arrived, late as
usual and was blabering about the movie he saw
yesterday….”.
the scene suddeny changes to the same station 4 hours
before .Madson enters the station with a smirk on his
face.Making an expression that he is going to achieve
something today by arriving late and lazy as usual .He
walks towards Robert’s table.
“hey..man how’s it going. you have to hear this you
know what ?.yesterday I watched a horror movie. I
really liked It. The level of fear they put into it was
enough to make it feel like we are in the movie .each
scary moment was perfect like I haven’t seen such a
movie in life..”
Robert looked at Madson with a pissed off expression
and said,
”hey Madson are you always like this.Stop your buildup
man ,you tells about every movie you watch in this
way. look you are already late and now you are bugging
my head instead of working. Go and do what you have
to first ,then blaber all you want okay”.
Madson becomes angry,
”why …you…son of a…..”
Before Madson could finish.suddenly the phone in
the station rang.It pierced the silent atmosphere of
the second floor of that station.
Madson suddenly after hearing the ring,
”who in the hell that might be ,I think you have got a
saviour Robert ,but don’t think that you can get away
that easily. first let me check who is that .then I am
gonna punch you In the face you show off.” Madson
gets out from Robert’s office and heads towards the
lift . Presses on floor 2. When the lift reached second
floor he walked towards where the phone was placed.
since there was not much people like in daytime the
station was awfully quiet he suddenly picked up the call.On the other side of that call an unkown person
started to speak,
“Is it thunder bay station?, I am calling from thunder
bay reserve forest .” Madson paused for a second and
blasted with anger and said,
”what in the world are you doing in forest don’t you
know that this time bears usually hunts for pray
huh!.do you want us to tail you and investigate your
death while pains are adding up on our back
huh!.people like you who doesn’t obey rules usually
piles up when tragedies occur and becomes a pain you
know that “.
That person interruped,
”sir…please listen to me I am not intending to cause
you any trouble I saw an incident and it might help on
your further procedures on this missing cases”. Madson
calmed his voice and said,
”alright then tell me what do you want to share but
keep in mind if it is a fake info then you have to pay for
it I will put you in jail and pull your soul from that body
of yours”.
stranger paused and said,
”sir i know the consequences and this info is true not
some fake now just a moment before I saw 3 people
wearing black hoodie with wiered mask on face came
on a van here and threw someone’s body to the lake
and their van headed towards the deep forest when I
trailed them they headed towards that old bunker in
the middle of that forest I think that must be their
hideout “.
Madson after hearing this info quickly took his car key
and started his car.The car’s engine growled in that
silent foggy street and Madson headed towards the
bunker.Steve after knowing that his friend has been
trapped on a dangerous place he becomes eager to
follow Madson’s traces and get him out from that
place.just when Steve was going to head towards the
exit his superior Kenedy Robhood stopped him,
”and where are you heading now Steve ?.right now we
don’t know what condition Madson is in don’t be a
fool okay.” Steve raised his voice and said,
“what do you want me to just sit here and let my
friend get killed out there by some wild animal”.
Kenedy was sure that Steve won’t jump into things
without any plans in mind.He gave an expression that he got convinced and headed towards his office and
brought two guns and a few bullets with him.And said ,
“Take these with you. if anything bad happens feel free
to fire a few shots, okay Steve.I am certain that you got
a plan in mind.but in case you need help or
reinforcemen ask without hesitation we cannot risk any
of our men not at in a situation like this so I assume
that you heard me not in the wrong way.” Steve with a
kind expression thanked him and started his journey
towards that bunker hidden in the wilderness of
thunderbay.As his car pierced though the dark and
foggy road the tension increases bad thoughts infects
Steve’s head.All of them was showing Madson’s
death.As he reached at the small muddy road leading
towards that bunker .He stopped his car and decided to
go their on foot since the road was filled with tree
trunks and thick fog. Steve heads towards the bunker
and the road became narrow as it reached towards the
bunker. Steve gazed through the thick fog and saw the
entrance of that bunker. covered by vines and roots of
trees, just looking at it gave him the creeps. He slowly
headed towards the bunker and saw Madson’s car and
the bunker door was half opened. The roots and vines
had cuts on them showing somebody went inside of the bunker already. Steve slowly opned the bunker
door.It opened with a loud creak . And Steve went
inside.He slowly pointed his flashlight towards the
deapth of the bunker.The beam of light cut through the
darkness…but it didn’t reach the end.Suddenly
something inside moved Steve pointed his flashlight in
that direction but nothing was there.Steve froze for a
while .
This wasn’t the end of a case
It was just the beginning of a nightmare that will hunt
Steve making that night an unforgettable night in his
life………he took his gun and prepared to shoot.Beneath
his foot in the deapths of that bunker something evil
was waiting impatiently.who knows what it might
be……
