Parkland City

It was a cool, October night. It was raining. A yellow beam pointed at a cloud from a hotel room. Then, 4 lightning bolts, one blue, one red, one purple, and one white, shot from the cloud. The blue one struck through an apartment window, the red one struck a teen on a rooftop, the white one struck a storage unit, and the purple one struck a warehouse.

But above the cloud, a yellow wave spursed, and spread, quickly. It launched a man into a light inside a hospital, and it also spread to other cities. It took a day to spread out to…

Coastal City

Daimon is in his lab testing a serum that was from a crime scene earlier today. It’s night, and then a yellow lightning bolt strikes through his window. He gets blasted to the back of the room. The serum he was testing splashes all over him, and he gets knocked out. Outside, the yellow wave continues to spread.

An hour later, he wakes up in the back of an ambulance.

“Where am I?” He asks the doctor.

“Hello I am Dr. Rodriguez, and you were struck by lightning,” the doctor says.

"Lighting?"

“You weren’t supposed to wake up until tomorrow.” “It’s only been an hour since you were struck. We are almost to the hospital.”

“Can I go home now?”

“Let me run a few tests, then you can go.” Dr. Rodriguez runs a few tests, and sees that Daimon’s cells are accelerated. “You can go now Mr. Kelley”

“Thank you, Dr. Rodriguez.”

Daimon gets up and steps off the ambulance. He starts walking toward his lab at CCPD, but then suddenly everything around him starts to slow down. The bird’s chirps become slow, distorted. Their wings flapping so slow they sound like ringing gunshots echoing in Daimon’s ears.

He covers his ears with pain, and falls against the building next to him. Then, everything goes back to normal. He stands up, panting.

“What the hell just happened?” Daimon mutters under his breath.

He starts walking to CCPD again, staring at his hands the entire time. When he arrives, he runs into his boss, Chief Rick Cardo.

“You alright, kid?” Chief Cardo asks.

“No-” Daimon hesitates. “Never better.”

“Alright.” A hint of skepticism in his voice, but he doesn’t pry. “You should take a week off, after getting hit by that lightning. How are you awake, anyway? It’s been what, an hour?”

“Yeah.” He chuckles nervously, almost awkwardly. “I feel fine, though. Like I just woke up from a… Power nap, or something.”

“Okay,” he chuckles. “Well, you’re at least taking today off. Your lab’s a mess. Go home, kid. We’ll clean it up for ya.”

“Thank you, Chief.”

“No need.”

Daimon leaves, and walks to his apartment. When he arrives, and closes the door, he notices something. Nothing about placement. Everything is exactly as he left it. He just gets an… Eerie feeling. Suddenly, the lights turn off. No… They don’t turn off. They shattered. Short circuit. And then Daimon gets a feeling… A feeling of… Power.

His body starts to faintly glow a nice, yellow gold. He takes a step forward, and then suddenly he’s all the way on the other side of the apartment, and crashes into the wall.

“Agh, shit,” Daimon says, groaning as he pushes himself off the wall. “What the hell is happening to me?” He carefully and slowly steps over to his window, and looks out at the skyline of Coastal City. “And why is it happening… To me?”

As he looks out the window, he notices a blur of green whooshing off in the distance, in the street. The street lights crackle off as it whooshes past.

“What the hell is that?” Daimon mutters under his breath.

Daimon closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, and then opens them again. He looks at his hand. It crackles with yellow lightning. And so do his eyes. He speeds away, going roughly 538 MPH (865.827 KPH).

He whooshes past buildings, a trail of yellow lightning generating from his body. He almost catches up to the green lightning. Almost. He leaps forward, but the green runner weaves, and Daimon crashes into the road.

He slides along the road, the asphalt beneath him breaking in his wake. He then finally smashes onto the wall of a building. A man with green lightning crackling on his body slowly steps closer to Daimon, his face covered by his lightning.

“Wh-Who…” Daimon barely says. “What are you?” The man stops dead in his tracks, and looks down at Daimon.

“If you wanna find that out,” the man says, his voice vibrating. “You’re gonna have to catch me first.” He speeds away. Before Daimon can even process what just happened, the man is already too far gone.

Daimon looks at his scraped arm. But then, yellow lightning generates on the scrape. It’s healing. He stands up, and looks off in the distance.

“What the hell just happened?” Daimon asks himself.

Abandoned Subway

The man speeds in, his lightning no longer activated. But his face cannot be seen under the darkness of the subway. On his wall, there’s pictures. Of the yellow wave of energy.

“What are you?” The man mutters under his breath, his voice still vibrating. “And what are you doing to these cities?”
