Golden portal
As golden sparks faded into nothing as the portal snapped shut behind them with a sharp hiss. Silence followed.
The courtyard of Kamar-Taj stretched out before them quiet, ancient, and heavy with energy. The air felt different here… thicker, like it was watching them.
America Chavez walked slightly ahead, her hands tucked into her jacket, while Doctor Strange led the way with calm, measured steps.
Behind them, the twins followed.
No one spoke at first.
Only the soft echo of footsteps filled the space until Billy finally broke the silence.
He slowed down, his hand resting against his chin, eyes narrowed like he was trying to piece together something impossible.
“Okay… so what exactly is happening?”
Everyone stopped.
Doctor Strange turned slowly, his cloak shifting behind him as if it had a mind of its own.
“Your powers,” he said carefully, “have caused an incursion.”
Tommy frowned. “An incursion?”
Strange’s gaze sharpened.
“Two universes… colliding into each other. And if left unchecked... both will be destroyed.”
A beat of silence.
Billy’s expression hardened.
“When? And how?”
Doctor Strange didn’t answer right away.
His eyes drifted slightly, as if replaying a memory.
Then it clicked.
“That battle,” he said. “Think carefully. The one where you faced a being that resembled death itself… commanding an army.”
Tommy’s eyes widened slightly.
“And you weren’t alone,” Strange continued. “There were others with you.”
The twins looked at each other and said in unison:
“Ecliptus… and Drax.”
The memory hit them both at once.
The battlefield.
The chaos.
The overwhelming power.
Tommy ran a hand through his hair.
“Wait… yeah. When we fought Ecliptus”
Billy continued, his voice quieter now.
“I used barely half a percent of my power… just enough to end it.”
Tommy nodded, pacing slightly.
“And during Drax’s war, we combined our powers to destroy his weapon. But that doesn’t make sense how does that affect two entire universes?”
“Because,” America finally stepped in, her tone firm, “your powers aren’t meant to be combined.”
They both looked at her.
“Especially yours, Billy,” she added.
Billy tilted his head, studying her now. Really looking.
She looked about his age… maybe a little older. But there was something different something that didn’t belong.
“Who are you?” he asked. “Are you from another universe? Because if you were… I feel like I would’ve seen you before.”
America smirked slightly.
“I’m America Chavez,” she said. “And no you wouldn’t have.”
She stepped forward.
“I don’t have variants. There’s only one me. Across every universe.”
The twins exchanged a glance.
“My power,” she continued, “is traveling through the multiverse. That’s how I found you.”
Billy gave a small, impressed smile but it quickly faded as reality sank back in.
“Okay…” he said slowly. “So how do we fix this?”
Doctor Strange stepped forward again, his expression serious.
“You don’t ‘fix’ something like this,” he said. “You correct it.”
Billy’s brows furrowed.
“You’re going to use your reality-warping abilities,” Strange continued, “to realign the universes… to push them back into their proper places.”
Then Billy's eyes were shocked
"no no no I don't have reality warping thingy powers."
"guess we're going to find out
Tommy let out a breath.
“That sounds… insanely risky.”
“It is,” Strange replied.
Then he looked directly at Billy.
“But before you do anything”
His voice lowered.
“You need to learn control.”
"so what am I supposed to do here?" tommy asked.
"you will help your brother. Because he carries a deadly power through his veins and you are there to support him." doctor strange replied
"yes I don't get to do anything I just have to watch you."
The air around them seemed to hum slightly, reacting.
Billy looked down at his hands.
For a brief moment just a flicker red and blue energy sparked between his fingers.
Unstable.
Powerful.
Dangerous.
And very, very real.
