I flew outside to see what night
Was like above the sky
The stars were more and morseso bright
With no twinkle but my eyes
My home below like marble stone
Adrift a sea of sparks
Was aglow with the light that shone
On the white and swirling marks
I saw its face so marked by days
And years so long ago
And yet so young the song it sung
Of which I'm but a note
The song is brief to those beneath
And my work is nearly done
As for rest they'll see the best
The chorus is yet to come
