Chapter 1

The Boy Who Lived The Boy Who Lived (500 words)

Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, who lived at number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much. They disliked anything strange or mysterious. So when unusual things began happening one Tuesday morning, they tried their best to ignore them.

Mr. Dursley noticed a cat reading a map on his way to work. Later, he saw people in colorful cloaks whispering excitedly. That night, the news reported strange events—owls flying during the day and shooting stars flashing across the sky. Mr. Dursley felt uneasy, but he said nothing to his wife, who was busy fussing over their baby son, Dudley.

What the Dursleys didn’t know was that something extraordinary had happened the night before. A powerful dark wizard named Lord Voldemort had been defeated. He had attacked a young couple, James and Lily Potter, and then tried to kill their baby son, Harry. But something went wrong. The curse rebounded, destroying Voldemort’s power and leaving Harry with only a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. From that moment, Harry became known as “The Boy Who Lived.”

Late that night, a tall, stern woman named Professor McGonagall sat in cat form outside the Dursleys’ house, watching carefully. Soon, a kind old man with twinkling eyes, Professor Dumbledore, arrived. He explained that it was safer for Harry to grow up away from the wizarding world. Though McGonagall doubted the Dursleys were suitable guardians, Dumbledore believed it was the best place to protect him.

Suddenly, a loud roar filled the air. A giant of a man named Hagrid appeared on a flying motorcycle, holding a small bundle. Inside was baby Harry, asleep despite everything he had been through. Hagrid gently handed Harry to Dumbledore, tears in his eyes. Even someone as strong as Hagrid was deeply moved.

Dumbledore placed Harry on the doorstep of number four, Privet Drive. Along with him, he left a letter explaining everything to the Dursleys. As he looked down at the sleeping child, he knew Harry’s life would be far from ordinary, even if he grew up in a normal house.

“Good luck, Harry,” Dumbledore whispered before leaving.

As the three figures disappeared into the night, baby Harry slept on, unaware of his fame or the magical world waiting for him. The only sign of his past was the small scar on his forehead—a mark that would remind everyone of the night he survived.

And so, the boy who had defeated the most feared wizard of all time began his life in the most ordinary place imaginable. Little did anyone know, this was just the beginning of an incredible journey.
