Chapter 1
It was morning… but for Areeba, it still felt like night. Her alarm had rung five times already, and each time she turned it off and went back to sleep.
“Areeeeba! Wake up! Aren’t you going to the office?” her mom’s voice finally forced her out of bed.
“Just 5 more minutes…” Areeba said, half-opening her eyes—but even she knew that was a lie.
10 minutes later…
“Astaghfirullah! I’m late!”
Areeba literally jumped out of bed. She got ready in a rush, didn’t even fix her hair properly, grabbed her bag, and ran out of the house.
Running on the road, she was a complete mess to look at. Phone in one hand, bag in the other… and only one fear in her eyes:
“What if my boss fires me today…”
As she tried to cross the road—
THUD!
She crashed into someone so hard that her phone fell straight to the ground.
“Can’t you see where you’re going?” a cold but slightly annoyed voice said.
Areeba looked up… and froze for a second.
In front of her stood a tall, smart-looking guy. White shirt, black coat… perfectly styled. But there was a hint of irritation on his face.
“I… uh… sorry! I was in a hurry,” Areeba said quickly while picking up her phone.
“Clearly,” he replied sarcastically.
Areeba rolled her eyes.
“Excuse me? It could be your fault too!”
“Really? I was walking straight—you’re the one running a race,” he said with a slight smirk.
Areeba got a little annoyed.
“Listen, mister… I’m getting late. You can give your lecture later!”
Without saying anything else, she ran off.
But as she left… she turned back for a second.
He was still watching her.
“Strange…” Areeba muttered and hurried off.
As soon as she reached the office, she took a deep breath.
“Finally…”
“Finally?” a voice came from behind her.
Areeba turned around… and her heart literally skipped a beat.
The same guy.
Same white shirt. Same attitude.
And now… he was standing outside her boss’s cabin.
“You?” they both said at the same time.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Areeba crossed her arms.
“I work here. You?”
A slight smile appeared on his lips.
“Interesting.”
Then he opened the door and walked inside.
Areeba’s brain was still trying to process everything.
“Oh God… don’t tell me he’s the new boss…”
She slowly peeked through the glass…
And what she saw confirmed her fear.
He was sitting in the boss’s chair. 😳
“Great… this is exactly what my life was missing,” she said, holding her head.
And inside…
That guy (who was now officially her boss) was looking through files with a slight smile.
“Miss Late Comer…” he murmured softly,
“Let’s see… how interesting you really are.”
To be continued… 💫
